"All-consuming, deep, seductive, so damn emotional—this book is everything I expect from Jewel E. Ann. ~ Pam Godwin, New York Times bestselling author

Flint Hopkins finds the perfect tenant to rent the space above his Minneapolis-based law office.

All the t’s are crossed and i’s dotted on Ellen’s application. Her references are good. And she’s easy on the eyes.

Until …

Flint discovers Ellen Rodgers, Board-Certified Music Therapist, plays music. Bongos, guitars, singing—not Beethoven administered through noise-cancelling headphones.

The cut-throat attorney serves up an eviction notice to the bubbly, constantly-humming redhead who's too sexy for her own good. But luck is on Ellen’s side when Flint’s autistic son, Harrison, takes an instant liking to her. A single dad can’t compete with guitars—and rats. Yes, she has pet rats.

This woman …

She’s annoyingly happy with a constant need to touch him—adjust his tie, button his shirt, invade his space, and mess with his mind.

Still …

She must go.

Their lust-hate relationship escalates into something beautiful and tragic. This sexy, romantic-comedy explores the things we want, the things we need, and the impossible decisions parents and children make to survive.

You never know what you’re gonna get with a JEA book. I really hesitated spending the money on this because I actually DNF’d it when it on KU years ago. But I’ve recently rediscovered JEA, and although some of her books are not for me, (and some are my absolute favorites), this one was worth every cent.

At first, I kind of felt like Elle was almost too quirky (especially with her rats and all) , but boy did I grow to love her. And Flint—well I pretty much couldn’t stand him at first—actually I thought he didn’t deserve Elle until about 70ish % in and then boy did he come through.

The tension and chemistry between them was so good. The push and pull of their relationship kept me glued to this book. I also utterly adored Elle’s relationship with Flint’s son Harrison.

There were so many ups and downs in this. I laughed, I cried. It had the perfect ending. I just loved it so much and I’m so happy I spent the money on it.

I think I'm officially team #jeweleann. I don't know why I hadn't read her books until this year, but I'm on board and it seems I just may read anything she writes.

Look the Part is a standalone romance (that is a very slight spin off from previous books) featuring 2 characters that couldn't be more different. Hello opposites attract with some Grump and Sunshine!
Jewel E Ann comes out, heart blazing with a prologue that was heartbreaking. I thought I was going to get a rip my heart out emotional book, but I got something a bit different. And it was perfect. From beginning to end, the characters and all their nuances pulled me in and didn't let go.

Flint is a single dad to Harrison who is on the spectrum. He lives, or rather barely lives his life day to day strictly to survive and to give Harrison the best life he can. He lives life very heavily and pretty much by the book. After the prologue, I understood why, but it was no way for someone to live. I liked his relationship he had with his assistant Amanda. He may have fired her each day, but she knew the deal. He couldn't live without her and her sassy, sarcastic self (I wouldn't be mad to get her story at some point).

Enter Ellen. The newest tenant in his work building. Before the ink dries on her lease, he wants her gone. She's a music therapist and her all around noise and goodness basically interrupts Flint's life like no one else has before. Needless to say, Ellen doesn't give up and she keeps on being herself. After all, you only get this one life to live and she "wants this life". Her relationship with Harrison is what stole the show though. They have a connection that defies anything that Flint has seen before. He allows her to call him Harry and they connect over music and rats. Yes, rats. These three main characters gave me laughs, baggage and flaws. All true to JEA fashion.

This book just had it all. From the emotional start to the continuous laughs throughout, to watching the characters unload their messy pasts, you are fully gripped to the characters and their journey to find happiness. There were a couple side characters that had minor parts and their interactions with the main characters kind of bugged me, but overall this book was the perfect balance of humor and LIFE. Well written, good pacing with wonderful characters that made the story that much more special and unique. Opposites do indeed attract and balance each other out making for a great romance book that I totally recommend.

    6 AMAZING STARS!
Look the Part starts off with a huge bang, in the form of a heartbreaking tragedy that sets the tone of the story, in this emotional read. It’s going on my Top Read list and I’m almost one-hundred percent certain it will be my #1 book of the year. Those of you who are movie buffs might recognize the quote from Steel Magnolias “Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion” and it describes this amazing story ‘to a T’.

Fair warning: you’ll need a box of tissues handy while reading this angsty, beautiful story. It’s filled with laugh out really loud moments, so beware! The levity, thankfully, lightened the story a little so as not drown us in unbearable sorrow. I loved this story and I wish I could convince each and every one of you to take a risk, with your tender hearts, and read it. The most honest praise I can give this story is that I felt an emotional connection with the main characters; they had such incredible fortitude and they left me awestruck. The secondary characters were just as important and added so much to the story; I loved each and every one of them. I felt as if in mourning at the end of it, and despite the incredible epilogue, I was truly sorry to say goodbye to everyone.

Flint Hopkins is a successful attorney raising his son, Harrison, after losing his wife. He’s been consumed by terrible guilt for the last ten years and doesn’t have a life outside of taking care of his son. Harrison has Asperger’s Syndrome and Flint’s a hands on parent. He changed Harrison’s diet and tested him for allergens, all things Flint swears has helped him be a well-adjusted, fairly “normal” twelve-year-old.

Flint owns the building his office is located in and when he has a vacancy above his office he rents it to Ellen “Elle” Rodgers, a music therapist. Flint thought the attractive redhead was a little strange, she kept humming when discussing the terms of the rental, but her references checked out. As soon as she moves in he realizes the loud sounds he finds disturbing are coming from her office and decides this is not going to work for him. When he tells her he’s evicting her, giving her two-weeks notice to move out, Elle is not pleased at all. His secretary, Amanda, is also surprised at his reaction.

“She's a music therapist, Flint. Please tell me you assumed music would be involved? Otherwise, I'm embarrassed for you.”
    Bang...Bang...Bang...Bang...Bang...Bang
    “This isn't going to work.”
“But seriously...you have to tell me what you thought a music therapist does.”
“Comfy sofas and relaxing music played through noise-cancelling headphones.”
She smirks “You should have done an internet search. Lots of videos showing exactly what happens at a music therapist's office. I'm a little surprised this one slid by you.”

Elle is upset the stern looking Flint is evicting her, and decides she should fight the eviction, or just ignore it. He can’t be serious, can he? After meeting Harrison, this unlikely pair forms a bond over music, something Flint can’t ignore. Although he’s serious about her moving out he begins to spend more time with Elle, and they grow closer and closer together, until they can’t deny the attraction.

"And you're the first breath of oxygen that's touched my lungs in ten years," he whispers in my ear.

This story! I just finished it and I’m going to reread it, just to savor the words, again. There’s a HUGE surprise in the story and I hope no one spills the beans so you can enjoy it as much as I did! Every single character in this book is amazing **sigh**

I started with Look the Part because I have heard nothing but good things, and she definitely did not disappoint! I absolutely ADORED this novel. If you love the single parent, lust-hate and beautiful connection relationship then this one is for you!
    .
This story is about two individuals who have both been through so much and with love, compassion, sacrifice, and acceptance they learn to move on. When our heroine Ellen has an interview to move into the office space above Flints office she immediately is taken aback with how attracted she is to him.. Flint agrees to move Ellen into his complex not knowing that she was a music therapist.. and therefore creating immense amount of noise all day. Flint has had enough and is going to evict her until he realizes just how much his son has taken a liking to Ellen, and whenever Ellen is around Flint she makes him feel things he never thought he’d feel again.

Flint is such a beautiful complex man, on one hand he can’t stand how Ellen makes him feel, but he finds himself craving all the little things she does, like fixing his tie and suit for him like she can’t control her hands when she’s around him, or being there for his son when he’s not. Flint hates himself and what he did to his family he knows he deserves to be alone for the rest of life, only Ellen is so much stronger then he and she won’t let him get away that easy.

Loved this gem of a story. So glad we got more of Flint from Cage’s story. Jewel rocks at writing flawed characters.
Flint has lived for 10 years trapped in guilt over his dead wife.
Enter Ellen who keeps rats as teaches music therapy to children with difficulties. Flint hates the noise they make in the office above his so he tries to evict her.
Trouble is his son loves making music with her.

I love Flint Hopkins that's all there is to say. I loved him when I met him in another of Jewels books - One ( which was fab )
I didn't know then that he had his own story until the end of that book. I was actually going to beg this Author to give us Flints book that's how much I loved him. I wanted to know his secrets, now that I do he's stolen even more of my heart.

Flint Hopkins isn't perfect he's flawed and very closed off. Yes he's made mistakes he lives with the tragedy everyday. That tragic night cost him dearly and almost destroyed him. The only thing keeping him going is the love for his son Harrison.

Flint isn't looking for love he doesn't think he deserves it.
Looking after his son has been his only priority for such a long time.
That is until a beautiful redhead rents a property from him and she gets under his skin like no other woman has for the past 10 years.

Ellen Rodgers I have huge love for this woman she's a music lover with a penchant for pet rats. I liked her quirkiness straight away.
She's a breath of fresh air for Flint. She challenges him and makes him wish for things he never thought he'd want again.
There's also the bond she has with Harrison that Flint can't ignore, his son doesn't form emotional attachments easily but it seems he has to this Music Therapy teacher.

I loved everything about this story it's a very captivating emotional journey. Once I started I couldn't put this book down. Such a compelling read that put a huge smile on my face. I adored Harrison this little guy says exactly what he thinks but he made me laugh so much. I'd love to see some kind of spin off story with him in the future.

Another massive hit from Jewel E Ann. This Author has fast become one of my favourites.
