Daisy is on a mission to find her one true love. Because it certainly won't be with her best friend's grumpy, off-limits older brother, Luke Brooks. When a tiny mishap with a dating app lands Daisy a job planning singles' events for the whole town, she never expected Luke, of all people, to help her out. As Daisy begins to uncover Luke's soft side, getting over her crush seems less likely. Especially when it starts to look like her feelings might not be so unrequited, after all…
Book 3: The Real Fake Fiancé
A Best Friends to Lovers, Fake Engagement Romcom
Dee is captain of the friend zone and she likes it that way. She loves being "one of the guys" on her volleyball team, writing code for a dating app, and spending time with her pet cat and her friends. Until her scary new boss informs her that her job is in jeopardy. So, she lies and says that her dating app works because she's engaged to a man she met on it. And who does she name as her fake fiancé? Her best friend, Noah Jackson.
These four sweet love stories feature all the swoony kisses and chemistry, but no explicit content.

0.5: The Last Chance Road Trip
Reader’s Notes:
– this is told from Val & Ethan’s points of view (past & present)
Review:
I liked not really knowing what it was that made Val & Ethan separate straight away. It was nice to get a few steps of the past in between what was happening in the current story. I loved that Val enjoyed brownies (almost any kind, I wish I could stomach as many as she ate within the story!) and that Ethan remembered this in his plan to apologize and try for a second chance. I also liked reading scenes with Ethan’s granddad in it, he was funny and liked to poke fun at the couple. It was clear that both Val & Ethan loved him and would do pretty much anything he’d ask. Some of my favorite scenes in this story included: paint balling, the water park, the lake, the flashback scenes, and Val’s many mishaps 😂.
Summary:
Val thought she had something lasting with Ethan back in high school, but that went down the drain when he broke up with her and moved out of town. She should have known he’d be back with his grandparents staying behind, but never thought about it. So when he shows up, it’s unexpected. Especially when he asks her to join him on one last road trip treasure hunt that his granddad set up for them in his will. Val would do anything for his late granddad, even spend time with the guy who broke her heart.
Ethan regrets what he did to Val all those years ago. If he could go back in time, he would change what he did so they never grew apart. But maybe his granddad’s request can give him the chance to fix everything. And show Val just how much she still means to him…
1. The Next Worst Thing
Reader’s Notes:
– this is told from Ivy and James’ points of view
Review:
By the time I got 20% through I knew that this would be a favorite of mine. Ivy and James were hilarious with their bickering and teasing. And it was funny to hear that just about everyone thought the two of them would get together even back when they were in high school and neither of them really knew about that until they were starting to realize that they just might be falling for each other. I loved how Ivy and James were together (both as enemies and then together as a couple). I think one of my favorite scenes was the photo shoot and how the two of them were the ‘couple’ for the test photos 😂.
Summary:
Ivy’s brother is getting married and Ivy is there for the happy couple by helping plan their wedding. Though juggling the many tasks that entails can be tough, Ivy does not like the idea of her brother’s best friend (and her enemy) having to help out. But that’s not up to her, so Ivy just needs to push through and be civil with James to get this wedding perfectly up and running.
James likes to tease Ivy, especially since she is quite predictable in her clumsy escapades. But he isn’t really a fan of being considered Ivy’s enemy. James wishes that he could tell her what really was going through his head back when their feud started, but he doesn’t think that she’d believe him if he tried. So he’ll just need to do his best to help Ivy set up her brother’s wedding. And try not to glare at the guy Ivy fancies…
Will Ivy and James realize there was more to their feud than they originally thought…or will they not be able to get past their hurts to mend it?
2. The Right Wrong Thing
Reader’s Notes:
– this is told from Daisy & Luke’s points of view
Review:
Oh my goodness! I just read straight through this last night and it was so good! I loved seeing Daisy and Luke get together after it was hinted at in the first book (and I am so excited for who’s story is supposed to come next!). I loved that their relationship started on a dating app and that Luke was the first to figure it out. It was entertaining to see Daisy’s sister and Noah meddling with Luke and Daisy and their feelings for each other. Noah was great at causing trouble and pushing Luke’s buttons. I loved how Daisy and Luke end up working together on some accidental projects together and it caused them to have to interact more than they would have if Daisy got her way of avoiding Luke and her dormant feelings for him. Some of my favorite scenes/moments included: the opening chapters’ events, their dates, the matchmaking events, Luke after Daisy finds out that they’ve been talking to each other through the app all this time, the friend’s/family’s reactions to them getting together, Daisy’s original plan for dating before really considering the app’s prospects, and when a surprise returnee to town finds out they are together.
Summary:
Daisy fell in love with her best friend’s brother back when they were in high school but couldn’t even think about dating him between him being her best friend’s brother and the fact that he was seriously dating someone else. Now Luke’s dealing with the nosey townspeople trying to set him up with someone new after his failed wedding when he clearly doesn’t want to be. Daisy knows that with his troubles, she shouldn’t be adding her feelings into the mix, especially since he isn’t thinking about dating at all. So she’ll just have to try dating someone else. What she didn’t expect was to accidentally manage to invite 20 men that matched with her on a dating app on a date…at the same time and place as the others…when she had meant to send it to the one person that interested her on the app. Now Daisy is pretending it was a planned singles fundraiser for the failing community center. And the council has decided that Luke will help Daisy plan more of these events since the ‘dry run’ did so well. Just great, now what’s Daisy to do?
Luke does not like being talked to about his runaway bride by anyone and everyone in town. Daisy is one of the few people that gives him a reprieve from the topic and Luke appreciates that. So when he discovers that he’s been talking to Daisy on a dating app for awhile, Luke has to decide if he’s truly ready to date after all this time before he can decide if he want’s to tell Daisy or not about his discovery. He doesn’t want to jump into anything that might break his little sister’s best friend’s heart without knowing where he stands beforehand. Daisy doesn’t deserve that after how kind she’s been and how much time she dedicates to helping out around town. Could Luke be ready to love someone once more?
3. The Real Fake Fiance
Reader’s Notes:
– this is told from Dee & Noah’s points of view
– Dee’s parents had divorced when she and her sister were young due to an affair
Review:
I’ve been waiting for Dee and Noah since the beginning and I am so happy with how their story turned out! I loved their typical friendship mannerisms and that they constantly teased each other and could tell what the other person might say or do based on the look on their face or the situation right beforehand. I also loved that the whole town was willing to pretend that they were am engaged couple despite knowing otherwise. It made it a little extra fun for the other townspeople to push and prod them into being a bit more coupley whenever Dee’s boss was around. I also loved that Dee’s boss ended up a little bit annoyed with their relationship as it began changing to be real and he had to witness their PDA once again. Some of my other favorite scenes/moments in this book included: a body pillow, a volleyball game on a baseball field, the guys from their volleyball team trying to help, the opening chapter(s), their first real date, the first time Noah & Dee’s boss meet, Dee visiting Noah at work, and Noah’s thoughtful gift.
Summary:
Dee hasn’t dated much despite being one of the developers of RightMatch, a dating app. But when her new boss comes into town looking for proof that RightMatch works for people in terms of long lasting relationships, Dee claims her sister’s love story as her own in order to hopefully keep her job. And when her fiancé is mentioned, her best friend Noah’s name is the one Dee latches onto. Everyone in town knows that she’s fibbing, but carries on as if it were true and spreads the word. Surprisingly, Noah even agrees to helping her out as a fake fiancé. And he plays the part phenomenally. So much so that even Dee is believing his performance and begins falling for him in a way she never thought she would. But if he doesn’t feel the same way, it could ruin their friendship. Dee would never jeopardize that.
Noah has been in love with his best friend since they were fourteen, but she’d never been interested in dating anyone. But now she’s looking for someone, and Noah wants to make sure he could be a candidate. He’ll show Dee that he can be more than just a friend in his actions before using his words. When Noah discovers that Dee made him her fiancé in her story to her boss, he is shocked. But the more he thinks about it, the more agreeing to helping her out sounds like an even better step in his plan to woo her and show her how he feels. Though when their fake relationship lines begin blurring, Noah isn’t quite satisfied just showing Dee how much she means to him. He’ll need to tell her how he feels and hope that she’s ready to hear what he has to say…
