The Lucky Beggar Trilogy Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 168 ratings

How would you behave if karma was instant?

Luke is not a nice person. Living on the streets of London has forced him to beg, borrow and steal to survive. In the hunt for a big payday he stumbles across a scientist willing to pay for test subjects that don't ask any questions. It was supposed to be easy money, a quick jab for a stack of cash. Unfortunately fate had other ideas. Now Luke is infected with a concentrated form of karma that judges his every decision, rewarding good and punishing bad.

He'll need all the help he can get if he's going to survive murderous mimes, homeless gangs, angry bullies and hired mercenaries. His only friend is an otterhound called Lucky, a matted ball of fur and enthusiasm. Together they must find the cure before karma gets them both killed.

This hilarious romp around England contains all three novellas in the Lucky Beggar Trilogy (Getting Lucky, Lucky Shot and Lucky Break) in one handy dandy package.

If you're a fan of Terry Pratchett or Red Dwarf you'll love the sarcastic banter and ridiculous shenanigans of the Lucky Beggar trilogy. Grab your copy today!

Craig Anderson can't stand writing about himself in the third person. I’ve been calling myself a writer for years, but most of my time spent writing is on a really long novel that no-one except me has read. I’m still not happy with it, and wonder if I ever will be.

I primarily write novellas because my house is too chaotic to get enough time to write 70k words! I love the shorter form books and the ability to capture a persons imagination and tell an interesting story that can be read in an afternoon.

I’m a Brit that lives in Canada, and I moved here via Australia, so no matter where I go people hear my bizarre accent and ask me where I am from. I have a beautiful wife, two kids under 3, two cats called Sydney & Mel, and a Brittany Spaniel called Jasper. Our house constantly looks like a tornado just passed through!

I stumbled upon this gem and was instantly drawn to it. I am a huge believer in karma and luck as almost religious figures and I believe that karma is a physical force that blesses us and holds us accountable when we screw up until we do enough good deeds to outweigh the bad. This book gave me the feels. One of the most interesting takes on the genre that I’ve read before. If you like funny books that also spotlight a ever-growing issue in this country, this would be the one for you. It’s a book that makes you think after you’ve finished read it. For me, any book that can make me do that is a winner.

This is a good read -- a lot of fun and hard to put down. I so wanted it all to be true! The reason it got 4 stars from me instead of 5 was that the proofreading was not good in the last two books. The difference between "its" and "it's" is basic, and there were quite a few other errors. I hope this will be corrected in future editions so I can give it the 5 stars it deserves.

This was the first book that I've read by this author, and I think that I'd read more of his work. This was very different from what I normally read but I liked it.

Because no matter what it lets you know. No matter what you do karma has why of paying you back for good or bad. This story can actually teach you something if you truly read it. But like I said before. It does have humor and violent. It makes a great read and makes you do some thinking.

A clever tale with an interesting premise, this book takes the idea of karma and turns it into a living organism that feeds on peoples good or bad intentions. When homeless man Luke takes the chance to earn some cash by acting as a human guinea pig, he soon finds out that the consequences will be larger than he could ever have imagined. Acting as a host to the karma organisms he quickly learns that his every action will bring reward or punishment, not just to himself but to those around him, and when this comes to the attention of some very unscrupulous people, he soon finds himself on the run. Can running towards his past instead of away from it save him, and his faithful canine companion?
Originally written as a series of three novellas, each feels complete and they unite together to create an original and well told story. Luke may not always be the most likeable of protagonists, but he is absolutely believeable, and as a reader I found myself completely on his side.

I never gave this book a second thought. I read the authors book Level Up and saw is other works and thought nah. I made the readers biggest sin and judged it by the cover. I just read grow up and read the small blurb about this book. I picked it up and didn’t put it down until now. Wish I read it sooner

An interesting idea, that karma is an organism and how it would effect the lives of those under its influence.
Mr Anderson has a knack for writing interesting & enjoyable characters. There are a few twists & turns in the story which kept me entertained. This trilogy was a pleasant read and well worth your consideration.
