4.4 out of 5 stars 110 ratings

Lucy James celebrates the end of her final exams at university. The next day she regrets those celebrations, as she has to attend an important interview, but she can’t remember why. Is it a meeting a prospective employer, or is it yet another member of the top recruitment agency she signed up with? Deciding to wing it, Lucy turns up and meets Gloria.

Gloria naturally expects Lucy to know why she is there, and almost immediately gives Lucy her first client. Lucy is horrified, but concerned she might blow her chance if she confesses her lack of knowledge, she sets off on her first assignment. Within days Lucy finds herself involved with blackmail, missing persons, and a possible murder.

Convinced she is working for a covert government agency, Lucy ploughs on with the job. Until the day comes when she is forced to make a decision that will affect everything she has ever known. And having made her choice, she is devastated when it is denied.

Nothing can ever be the same again.

Who is Lucy working for? Why is she denied the one thing she requests? Get your copy of this thought provoking mystery, with a sensational twist, today and find out.

About the Author

Having worked in the property industry for most of her adult life, latterly at a senior level for a corporate agency, Marcia finally escaped in 2010. Whilst she still works as a consultant for several independent agencies, she can now dedicate the bulk of her time to writing and of course reading. Marcia has enjoyed writing for many years but only for pleasure and friends or family. Her first novel Murderous Mishaps is a farcical whodunit set in her favourite hotel in Cornwall, although she did of course change the name so as not to tarnish their reputation. Marcia wrote Murderous Mishaps for a friend, who after regaling her with all the latest gossip said 'they wouldn't believe you if you wrote it down.' So she did. All based on true stories but totally exaggerated of course. Murderous Mishaps is available on Amazon. Misplaced Loyalty was her debut novel in published format, and introduced the popular DCI John Meredith and Patsy Hodge, in the Meredith & Hodge crime series. Also available in the Meredith & Hodge Series are: Ill Conceived, & The Wrong Shoes. Marcia has recently published Tin Soldiers, the 4th in the series. Marcia is married, has two children, two German Shepherds and a Bichon Frise. They live in Bristol UK. Marcia has enjoyed writing for many years, but originally only for pleasure and friends or family. Marcia wrote Murderous Mishaps for a friend, who after regaling her with all the latest gossip said 'they wouldn't believe you if you wrote it down.' So she did. All based on true stories, but totally exaggerated, of course.

Since then, Marcia has written the ongoing Meredith & Hodge crime series. The Bearing Witness series, which has a touch of the paranormal & a cozy mystery series, The Little Compton Mysteries, and has recently released a new series, introducing JJ Jenson. There have also been a few standalone novels, but yes, they are all murder/mysteries. So far. . .

Marcia is married, with two children, two grandchildren and a German Shepherd - Ted. They live in Bristol, UK.

What a delightful story. Not what I expected but the 5 rating is because of the immense enjoyment it brought this reader.

I've never read anything quite like it. Not quite fantasy, not really a mystery, no romance (at least not for the protagonist). Very good.

I knew it!!!! What an amazing story & what an ending!!! You have to read this book. It maybe a bit confusing at first but you'll get there has the story progresses. It's incredible how 1 person can change the lives of others with one good deed. I have read every book this author has written & look forward to the next adventure she will take me on. Thanks Marcia

Another excellent read - well done Mrs T!

I had no real idea what to expect from Mrs Turner this time. Having thoroughly enjoyed her previous works, I had no hesitation in reaching for this book. With expectations high I settled down one evening with the intent of reading a few pages before going to bed. Fortunately it was a Friday evening, as I was still wide awake and reading avidly at 4.00am!

The characters develop quickly, which is one reason why the book is immediately engaging, but they still keep little secrets which we discover along the way. I must have had made 5 or 6 attempts as guessing the ending, none of which was near the mark. Having finished the book, I was able to recall all the clues which would have lead me to the correct answer, but the plot was so well crafted that I didn't link them together.

An excellent and thought provoking book, which I was unable to put down, a perfect holiday or rainy weekend read!

As Lucy starts her first job after university she is thrown in the deep end with lots of new clients and it doesn't help that she cannot remember what the job is! As her life gets more tangled with her clients there are plenty of mysteries and drama to keep you hooked!

I couldn't put The Recruitment of Lucy James down, I had to know what was going to happen with her clients and what the mystery job was! Loved the characters (as always with Marcia's books!) you feel part of their 'family'! I wont spoil the ending for anyone other than to say the reveal was a surprise for me and was one of those books that keeps you thinking about what you would have decided long after you have finished reading the book.

    Highly recommended!
