Susan was a certified fitness trainer and instructor for more than 30 years at a spa and an active adult community in northwest Tucson. She is currently an Ashtanga 200-RYT-certified instructor and the author of Swimming with Dolphins, Fitter Than Ever at 40 and Beyond, Fitter Than Ever at 50 and Beyond, and Slim for Life Secrets. In 2017, Susan and her husband began living part of the year in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico. Susan writes, teaches yoga, volunteers with a marine wildlife rescue group, and swims in the Sea of Cortez—often with a friendly pod of bottlenose dolphins. You can take her yoga classes 24/7 on Zoom, YouTube, or Insight Timer.

    This book is just what I needed. I'm 63 now and realize there's still hope. This book goes into lifestyle changes which, believe it or not, are still possible after 60. I've been an avid gym-rat most of my life so I can confirm that what the author is saying is spot on. But I let myself slip and now feel empowered to get by fat carcass into the gym, read the labels on foods, and change my overall mindset. This is definitely worth the read if you're serious about living longer and changing you behaviors about dieting and working out.

    I know what I should be doing to stay fit. But like most people, I slip off the wagon and it is so hard to get back on track. This is a comprehensive integrated treatment that includes goal setting, details on the ins and outs of aerobic exercise, strength training- and essentials of quality nutrition principles. Well written excellent book.

    I like how this book is about lifestyle changes to support you at 60 and beyond. It addresses seven components of the author's Fitter than Ever program in addition to the effects of retirement, menopause, diet and nutrition, the best kinds of exercises to do, the importance of balance, returning to exercises after illness or surgery, meditation, medication, and much more. I found the insights the author provides in these areas helpful.

    I like how the author shares her personal story and health regimen at the beginning of the book. I also liked Susan's 31 Slim for Life Secrets. The informative and educational information in this book has raised a new awareness and motivated me to make some additional lifestyle changes so I can live healthier, be more active and continue to be my best self and live my best life at 60+.

    This a very comprehensive book that covers all areas of health. It is very straightforward. It tells you how it is. I liked the extra information on menopause and medications. I know now what I need to do to get the healthy life I want.

    This book is an inspiring and empowering guide to staying healthy and fit and living your best healthy life at 60. I think it is best to start before 60 though. This is an excellent book with real life stories from Susan Dawson-cook, her writing style is no nonsense but yet encouraging, factual and yet filled with all the right information needed.
    There is so much good guidance and stories and tips in this book, it is going to be a resource that stays next to my bed and keeps me on track. I’m inspired to get really strong and fit and follow her exercise plan and eating non inflammatory foods.
    I highly recommend this book to all 55 & older people.

    A no-nonsense approach to getting fit and healthy, which gives you a clear framework to adhere to in order to make lifelong changes to ensure health and wellbeing. It is well-written and gives you just enough facts and information, coupled with the author’s own personal journey, to make it an empowering and inspiring read. Being of an age close to retirement, I found it a very useful self-check of my own lifestyle and it has helped me enormously to make adjustments to improve my fitness, diet and habits as I get nearer to ditching the day job. I found it quite exciting and it has made me look forward more to retirement than I had thought I would. Recommended for anyone upward of age 55, looking for inspiration for their next step and to enhance the life and wellbeing of anyone already in retirement and looking for motivation.
