4.6 out of 5 stars 17 ratings

Showbusiness can be murder …

All Eve Holdsworth wants is quality time with her dad, his wife,

and their cat, and to enjoy an old-fashioned Halloween in the quaint small town of Hemlock Grove in the Pacific Northwest. After years of estrangement and a heart attack on her dad’s side they have a lot of catching up to do.

But when the community radio host flings public insults at town luminaries and Bill Holdsworth stumbles upon a dead body, Eve’s dad becomes the main suspect.

To her it’s clear that behind the facade of golf, goodwill, crafts, and neighborliness lurks something sinister.

With her dad’s fate at stake, Eve decides to put on her own show. But can she catch the killer before he drops the mic on her forever?

Murder on the Airwaves is another fun-filled adventure in the cozy Eve Holdsworth mystery series.

Carmen has spent most of her life with ink on her fingers and a dangerously high pile of books and newspapers by her side.

She has worked as a newspaper reporter on two continents and always dreamt of becoming a novelist and screenwriter.

When she found herself crouched under her dining table, typing away on a novel between two earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand, she realised she was hooked for life.

The shaken but stirring novel made it to the longlist of the Mslexia competition, and her next book and first mystery, The Case Of The Missing Bride, was a finalist in the Malice Domestic competition in a year without a winner. Since then she has penned several more cozy mysteries, including the Jack and Frances series set in the 1930s.

Carmen now lives in Italy with her human and her four-legged family.

Absolutely fabulous! Did not figure the who dun it out! On a personal note, I've never had a song dedicated to me, so imagine my surprise to see one immortalized in print! This book brought home the love of family, friends and community. The characters truly came alive. The world building, especially of the retirement home and the importance shown to the elders, was over the moon. I can whole heartedly recommend this wonderful story .

Wonderful mystery with Eve visiting her dad and stepmother in the US around Halloween. The small community has a rare murder and Eve gets involved to help clear her dad's name. Wonderful to watch the developing relationship with Eve and her stepmother and she reconnects with old friends. A really enjoyable fun story that works as a stand alone if you haven't read any of the other Eve stories.

This is the first book I’ve read in this series although there are several other books. I really loved the characters especially Eve Holdsworth, her dad, and his third wife. The majority of the characters were older which I appreciated.

The murder mystery was well developed, involving the murder of the announcer for the local radio station. Eve’s dad is a suspect and it’s up to Eve with help from her dad’s wife, and several of Eve’s former school friends, one works on the police force, to solve the murder. It definitely kept me guessing until the end. Although I was surprised when the killer was revealed, it made sense.

I now want to read the earlier books in this series.

I was fortunate to receive an Advanced Copy.

This is the first book that I have read by this author, but definitely not my last! A radio host that has been generous and kind to his friends and community starts making vague and insulting remarks about them over the airwaves. When he has gone a step too far he is found dead in his studio! Everyone seems to have a motive, but who did it? A cast of quirky and fun characters, and I didn't stop reading until I got to the end. Can't wait to read more by Carmen Radtke!

Eve is visiting her Father who had a heart attack and his wife in the small town of Hemlock Grove. She has not been close with her Father so wants to make up with him and his wife. While there her Father is accused of Murder because he finds the body of Frank the man who operates the town's Radio Station. The town is full of suspects as Frank has been broadcasting a lot more than news and has been spreading secrets of the town in little quirky messages that only a few would understand. This was a fun book and I cannot wait to see what Carmen Radtke comes up with next. I recommend this book and look forward to reading the next.

Very enjoyable book! I was initially interested in this book due to a family member working for a radio station years ago. The story quickly became engrossing and I read it in one sitting. The characters were interesting and were quite likable. I really like Ms. Radtke's writing style. The story line was entertaining and held my interest. I will definitely be reading more books in this series as I really like Eve, she is a compassionate, intelligent and interesting character. I received this book as an ARC but this review is entirely my own opinion. Read it, you will not be disappointed.

I received this book as an Arc from the author and I’m writing a review because I want to. I loved this story! It’s clever and about a re-union with a daughter and her dad! There are insults at the dignitaries at an event. Later the emcee is found dead. Her dad becomes the first suspect. The game is on! Highly recommended!
