Marry Your Billionaire: An Enemies to Lovers RomCom (The Reluctant Bride Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 643 ratings

A CEO billionaire needs a wife to save his image. A desperate college student needs her trust fund to get her degree.

A reality TV romance could solve all their problems.

Six years ago, Madelyn Knightly walked away from her trust fund, her Hollywood producer father, and the expectation that she would join the family business. Avoiding handsome playboys with hidden agendas was just an added bonus. Now one semester shy of graduation, she is shocked to discover her scholarship has lost its funding.

Her estranged father is having problems of his own. A contestant on his latest reality TV series has canceled a week before shooting.

His solution?

Madelyn gets her trust fund back if she stands in as a potential marriage candidate for the dating series Marry Your Billionaire. Twenty women competing for one arrogant guy. Not Madelyn's cup of tea. Agreeing to this proposition sucks her back into the world she happily broke ties from.

But no trust fund equals no college degree.

Brody Prescott, CEO and owner of an online dating company, has recently been pegged a heartless playboy by a disgruntled female after a disappointing date. To save his company and his reputation as an honest businessman, the billionaire must prove to everyone he isn't the naughty bad boy they believe him to be. His solution? Become the first bachelor on Marry Your Billionaire and land himself a wife. Unfortunately, the woman who intrigues him the most wants to be eliminated. His careful planning did
not include wooing a reluctant bride.

If Brody can't convince Madelyn he's interested in happily ever after, he risks losing his reputation and the only woman he has ever loved.

Marry Your Billionaire is Book 1 in The Reluctant Bride Series by Swoony Award-winning author Jennifer Griffith and USA Today bestselling author Cynthia Savage. All the books in the series are standalone romantic comedies with hunky heroes, hilarious twists, and clean-but-undeniable chemistry.

"A contemporary romantic comedy with plenty of real emotion on a TV set, Marry Your Billionaire puts a new spin on the reality TV romance dating shows by having both a bachelor and bachelorette who don’t want to be there. Full of drama, steam, and a bit of danger as one contestant plots her way to the top, this story has plenty to offer for any bachelor romance fan." -Sarah E. Bradley, InD'Tale Magazine

Review

"While the hilarious premise behind Marry Your Billionaire is enough to make it worthy of a read, it's the characters of Midge and Brody and how they play off each other that keep readers hooked. Their mutual attraction and constant sparring keep Marry Your Billionaire full-out engaging from first page until last." -Reader's Favorite______"Marry Your Billionaire boasts a wonderful cast of well developed and relatable characters while creatively navigating the dilemma of finding "the one" on a reality T.V. dating show. The story unfolds as the fiery and stubbornly independent Midge and the confidently handsome and tenacious Brody, work to overcome dangerous sabotage, a deviously played out vendetta and the ever lingering question of motives in this wholesome, uplifting and incredibly sweet-against-the-odds romance that will have you swooning until the very end." -Naomi Mautz : Chief Editor for Skin Deep Exposures Magazine______ "The book takes off like a shot and doesn't slow down until the end. Marry Your Billionaire is a cute, funny, and at times poignant cross between Cinderella and the Bachelor. It reminded me of one of those Hallmark Rom-Coms, and I could sit and watch those all day long!" -Amazon Customer _______"...there was no way I could give it a rating lower than 5. This book was just lovely. It was romantic, funny and had suspense thrown into the mix. This entire book was a joy to read. What I also loved was there was no predictable sex scene that we see so often, it was purely about falling in love..." -Badass Bloggettes_______"This was a surprisingly deep and fun romance. The premise had led me to think of it as lighthearted, and while it is an entertaining story you'd expect from a Bachelor-esque style plot, there is some serious action in it." - Clean Romance Reviews_______"I was just in the mood for a light, clean book with depth and a bit of a mystery included. I am so happy I took a chance on reading this book. It was delightful--absolutely delightful!! The best I can describe it is a modern day fairy tale based around Reality TV..." -Amazon Customer______"This was such a fun romance between a (non-playboy) billionaire and a smart (not clichéd) trust fund baby! A Cinderella fairy tale retelling with a smart heroine." -Romantic Cynic Blog: 5 Stars______"C.J. Anaya's winning character combination for a good read pairs sexy, sensitive Brody Prescott with strong, willful Madelyn Knightly in the glitz and glam setting of staged reality show drama."-Teresa LaBella, author of contemporary romance______"Based on the fast pace, fairy elements, and unique point of view plot-wise, I would give Marry Your Billionaire by CJ Anaya a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I found the plot to be entertaining and at a few moments unexpected. It was overall, a good book that I would recommend to anyone who likes fairy tale retellings, watching reality dating shows, or just likes a good contemporary romance." -OnlineBookClub.org______"There are so many things I loved about it from the eye catching front cover to the content. It was like 'The Bachelor' meets 'Miss Congeniality' without the pagent!" -Mrs. Tosh, Goodreads Reviewer______"Marry Your Billionaire is full of twists, threats, murder attempts, even pranks, not to mention kisses good enough to ignite any flame." -Hines and Bigham's Literary Tryst______"C. J. Anaya crafted characters that were outrageous, but wonderfully so; they are captivating and, for the most part, likeable. There is also a ton of fantastic humor, with enough creativity and wit to often warrant out-loud chuckles. As far as romance novels go, Marry Your Billionaire is quite unique; it is funny, interesting, and gripping from the first chapter on- and manages to do all of this without a single sexually explicit scene. Marry Your Billionaire is a truly engaging novel that most readers would be guaranteed to enjoy." -Originally critiqued by a member of the Authors Talk About Itteam.

From the Author

The idea for this book can be blamed on our foreign exchange student from Switzerland, Alyssia Keller, who came to live with us during the school year of 2014-2015. She'd been a fan of The Bachelor for quite some time, while I had done an admirable job of avoiding that show like I would a sugar-free diet. I couldn't think of anything more ridiculous than watching desperate women fighting over a knuckle head who probably joined the show just so he could get laid. What were these women thinking? Why in the world put yourself through all of that drama? No guy could be worth such heartache.Right?I knew you'd understand. These were all of the arguments--valid arguments--I posed to Alyssia when she insisted I sit down and start the new season of The Bachelor with her. The bachelor in question? Chris Soules.Because I'm a good sport...and also because she promised me an endless supply of Swiss chocolate, I agreed and sat down to watch the show.Holy crap! I was hooked within the first ten minutes.Dang it.It was like watching a train wreck and waiting for the inevitable carnage to follow. You know you should probably shield your eyes, but you simply can't tear yourself away.So entertaining. As I watched Chris begin his first round of make-out sessions, I thought about how no one in the world could have paid me nearly enough money to put myself in that situation. Then I wondered what might happen if someone didn't want to be on the show, but was forced into it. What would motivate a woman to agree to something like that? What if the bachelor in question decided she was the one for him and refused to let her leave? How delicious! So I got to work on it right away. Of course, I had to continue watching the show. Purely for the sake of research, mind you, lest you think I couldn't pull myself away from the TV to go make dinner...or do laundry...or wash the dishes. And then it was absolutely imperative that I continue my research by watching The Bachelorette.Right?I knew you'd understand. For the record, I still think the idea of a dating reality TV series is ridonculous, but that's what makes it so entertaining. Plus, I got super attached to all of the contestants and their various relationships with the bachelor in question...which is exactly what those devious TV producers want you to do.Stinkers.Needless to say, my foreign exchange student and I spent many evenings planted in front of the TV, devouring an unhealthy amount of popcorn and Swiss chocolate, arguing the finer points of life married to Whitney versus life married to Becca or even Kaitlyn. And who can dispute Kaitlyn's extreme likability? And how awesome was it to witness every single emotional melt down, including the fake panic attack from Kelsey and her tactless claim that the death of her husband was the best backstory on the entire show?Classic!I do so love research.

I loved this story about fate. I also hated it because of the many insecurities of the characters especially in our leading lady and gentleman. I guess the author captured human nature too well that I almost had a coronary towards the end. I have always hated the concept that people feel entitled to people when we were all created with free will. For greed and lust too many people are too narcissistic, and feel that they are entitled to manipulate an individual, an individuals feelings and orchestrate what they wish too happen especially when their motives are less than stella. You would think the same way they wish to chose to be with that individual, the said individual is entitled to do their own choosing too. If what you wish is reciprocated then that is awesome but I have learnt in abiding by a person's decision you may have to face heartache but at least your conscience is clear, and you are empowered when the individual choses you each and every time of their own free will. I love Midge as a character and I understand how her insecurities developed and she had every right to be cautious. Brody on the other hand is almost perfect except for the way that a man who had so much going on for him, he seemed a bit weak in letting others practically run his love life for him especially when he has a certain mode of conduct and morals. The most heart wrentching moment is where he hurts Midge, had me bawling and reliving my most profound heartbreaks. I know Midge eventually got her happy ending but I am more convinced now I will never have a happy ending and will continue to live vicariously through good reads such as this one.

If you are a fan of the Bachelor saga, then this book is for you. Even if you aren't a fan of the may or may not be fake antics, you'd probably still like this book.

Madelyn Knightly is the daughter of a rich and well known TV producer. She worked along side her father for many years, until their falling out. Since then, she has entered college, has a job and lives with a roommate. No longer living the lavish lifestyle.
By chance, she eaves drops on a conversation with the famous billionaire, Brody Prescott. He
is smitten...deep smit or some say instalove. Her...not so much. Madelyn, or Midge, wasn't impressed with Brody and not too shy about her feelings.
Sadly, Midge's scholarship has dried up and she strikes a deal with her father to star on his latest show "Marry Your Billionaire" for one night and be eliminated. in exchange, she gets her trust fund and will be able to graduate and become a writer, like she has planned.
Brody finds out about this arrangement and decides to throw Madelyn and her father, Corbin, a curve ball.

Madelyn is a caring person who thinks of others before herself. Midge meets with Brody's mother by accident at a local restaurant. There, she gets to know Blanche a bit and they hit it off. A bit later in the book, Midge talks about her feelings towards Brody's mother.
"Thoughts of Blanche and how she would react to the bad press her son might receive brought her up short. She stood on the threshold of the mansion, wondering what she could possibly do to protect Brody from whatever her father had in store for him."

I like how the author tells the reader, and ultimately shows the reader, how Midge is beyond the need to hurt others for her own gain.

I liked the flaws that the author included for Midge. They seem far too real to some women and not seen too often in characters these days.

"I'm allowing this to continue because of what I see in her eyes when she looks at you, Knightly said. midge does not trust easily. Most of her friends, boyfriends, and colleagues were interested in her because of her connection to me. your feelings for her may be genuine, but she's been a means to an end far too many times, and this little feud we've had over the years hasn't helped wither."

I liked how the author took her time in setting up the romance between the two characters. often times they are thrown together too fast but this book takes it's time in setting up the story, creating character development and then delving into the romantic feelings.

I didn't love how Midge was so wishy washy. She is the definition of indecisive. The mystery to the book isn't very deep but i didn't need it to be. I actually wanted to know more about some characters and their motives but after the big reveal the character wasn't mentioned anymore. Which at this point, they didn't matter, but I wanted to see more...perhaps even their downfall.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and I enjoyed their antics on the show and in their reality. Be prepared for many pages of enjoyment. I took my time in reading this book and it took me four weeks to finish it. I didn't find that I laughed out loud while reading the book, like some did, but, at times, things were humorous. I enjoyed the flaws of the characters in this book. They felt very real and are relateable. I would recommend this book to those who love witty and fun romance books. The romance isn't cheesy and it isn't instant. This was a nice change. It gave me an opportunity to take my time and enjoy the story.

I was given a copy of “Marry Your Billionaire” by C.J Anaya in exchange for an honest review.
Midge Knightly is the daughter of a Hollywood producer of reality TV. She walked away from his family business because of what she found to be unreasonable expectations. That included her trust fund. Now she has lost her scholarship.
Her father is starting a new reality TV show and wants her as a contestant on Marry Your Billionaire. If she does that, she will be able to finish college because she will get her trust fund back. She agrees with the condition that she gets eliminated the first night.
Midge and her father forgot to take into consideration what their billionaire would want. Brody Prescott, the billionaire, has had one chance encounter with Midge and hasn’t been able to forget her. So when he has the chance to eliminate her, he chooses to keep her. The chaos that follows is something that would only be seen on reality TV. Will Midge and Brody find true love or will he choose another woman for his wife?
A wonderful, drama filled romance novel with many twists and turns. A good read for any lovers of romance novels.

This was a great book. Long enough to get your teeth into, certainly not a novella, for which I was very thankful, as I am not so keen on novellas. Very well written book, it contained everything - romance, angst, jealousy and bitterness on practically everyone's behalf and a real mystery that I didn't figure out until three quarters of the way through (as to who was the nasty girl's assistant). It also included murder and fear, there isn't much left out of this book except for paranormal stuff! A very good book that I highly recommend. This book, along with the author's Healer series, is now in my To Be Read Again Kindle alongside Diana Gabaldon, JD Robb and Nora Roberts.

I really enjoyed this book. I've read others with very similar story lines so it's not an original idea but it was very well written. It's much longer than the typical romance books I read (over 12 hours on the Kindle app) so it gives the reader plenty of time to get to know all of the characters, who are very well developed. It flows very well too. No need to skip long, descriptive passages. There is a great balance between description, narration, and dialogue. Very romantic and clean (no sex). I would definitely recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A clean witty romantic comedy.

I enjoyed this quite a lot as I kept in mind it's fiction for entertainment and didn't pull apart the characters behaviors. Otherwise Brody's behavior was a bit full on at times if it was real life.
I love a clean read that's also passionate. I also liked that Midge DID give reasons for her stance on sex and alcohol. I remember my teens and those ideas weren't shared much. Some people may feel encouraged to know that they have options and not go with the flow. I'm a little over people drinking till they like it because it's expected.
Not that this is the main push in the story - it's not at all. It's just something I appreciated.
I'd also like to know what started the phobia! I really enjoyed Cambria's personality.
    Thanks for an entertaining read.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good cheesy romance.
Reviewed in Australia on August 29, 2016
When I say cheesy I mean in a positive sense. You know the boy is going to get the girl in the end, and what you are interested in a novel like this is the details of how. This is where the story is good. I would have liked more conflict between the two on a personal level, understandably the attraction was high but in my opinion I would have though more opposition to being manhandled in certain situations where she said "no" quite frequently would have made me respect the main female lead a bit more, and also would have spiced things up with the male lead being frustrated and then behaving more appropriately instead of being a bit of a bully with his attraction which in some cases was on par with her blind date earlier in the story and these situations were only "forgiven" because she was attracted to the male lead. All in all a good cheesy romance with some intrigue to spice it up.
