Dr Wint feels that being a grandmother and getting involved in preschool activities has taught her a great deal and makes it easier to relate to the problems parents presently experience. For her, writing for parents and caregivers fills a space as children are faced with so many new challenges on a daily basis.

Nevertheless there are many parents out there who just need guidance and reassurance and that is something Dr Wint is able to do admirably. Her books are written to reach all parents and caregivers from all walks of life and cultures. She has been using the book with new parents and is intent on teaching how children can build their love of self and respect for Christian ways while parents and early childhood educators learn the keys to building children's self confidence, self-esteem and respect for their cultural heritage.

Tweet Tweet & Friends is a series co-authored with her granddaughter, Lois. It is a joyful little book with 3 in the series, a prequel and two other books. All together these tell us about friendship in so many different ways. These awesome little penguins all live with their famlilies and now in the final book, hilariously experience whether the egg they are guarding will be a girl or a boy.

Teaching about parenting, "I Like Me" is her first book teaching the SHINE technique. Her book "Marcus Teaches Us" is unique in that it is the first book published for children on the teachings of the great philosopher Marcus Garvey. The book on "Bob Marley" is an historic compilation of speakers at the first Symposium held from the historic Bob Marley Museum at the University of the West Indies. Her books have her contact details.

This book is part of a series of illustrated, beginning chapter books featuring Tweet Tweet and her penguin friends.

In this adventure, the Aurora Borealis is beginning to appear in the skies. Tweet Tweet, siblings, and friends understand this means it is almost time for the Christmas festival on Christmas Eve. They wait for their teacher to assign each a special role to prepare. They work together to prepare food, gather stones to decorate the tree, dance, and prepare for the parade. This book teaches children the lessons of the need to prepare, work as a team, share tasks, and show empathy for each other.

The illustrations are in full-color that provide extra encouragement for beginning or reluctant readers. I recommend this series for readers in the six to nine year old age group.

West Indies born Canadian author Dr Eleanor Wint is a former Head of the Social Work School at the University of West Indies and Coordinator of the Community Development Programme at University of Kwa Zulu Natal. She has lived and worked in Jamaica, Africa, the Caribbean and the USA. She now lives in Canada and has worked as Coordinator of the MSW Programme at UNBC and at Dalhousie University. She has published a number of texts in academia. She teaches how to build the self-confidence of the child starting with the child of 3 1/2 years of age right through to the teens of today. Dr. Wint feels that writing for parents and caregivers fills a space as children are faced with so many new challenges on a daily basis. Parents and caregivers at the same time have to develop routines that in some cases seem just plain impossible. Her books are written to reach all parents and caregivers from all walks of life and cultures. In this new book she is joined by her 9year old granddaughter Lois Wint-Rose. The illustrations are the art of Yuliia. A MAGICAL CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL is the third volume in the TWEET TWEET AND FRIENDS series.
In Canada, the penguin friends – Tweet Tweet, Violet, Blaze and Page – are walking and notice the ‘faint green glow, shimmering light just above the snow. The Aurora was here,’ – a phenomenon that ‘appeared just before the magic stars that could only be seen on Christmas Eve.’ And so begins preparation for the festival: the friends are all assigned to teams – dance, decorating, food preparation, and as the festival draws near they gather sparkling stones to decorate the ice tree, learn new dance steps, find foods, and finally on Christmas Eve the festival takes place – with all the penguins happy with their result at making the festival an enriching success!

Once again Dr. Wint and Lois Wint-Rose bring an engaging story that celebrates nature, friendship, collaboration, and Christmas. This is a perfect gift for youngsters to imagine Christmas in a new, more universal way. Recommended. Grady Harp, December 21
