We've gotten to know Archer and Viv a bit while they've circled around in the back of the other books in this series. Now it's their time to shine.

Not only is this starting off as a fake relationship, Archer is also best friend's with Viv's brother. So we have that dynamic at play also. Add in the fact that these two have been gone for each other for many years, it just adds to that tension. So dang good.

The beginning of the book had me feeling for Archer. You could tell he was struggling. The fake relationship came at the perfect time as it gave him something positive to focus on. For Viv having to start over wasn't ideal, but this new opportunity seemed right up her alley. Even if it did require her to find a fake fiancee.

Everything that happened in Making the Cut goes to show how important communication is. Not to mention finding those moments where you can squeeze in time for your partner when life is extremely busy. Had that line of communication been a constant for Viv and Archer, I feel like they wouldn't have had as many issues as they did. But that's just my take.

I loved how supportive Archer was when it came to Viv. Well even to his friends in general. He is the perfect cheerleader for he holds dear.

I feel like this book is quite possibly my favorite of the series thus far. Now that could change, but it might not. I was just drawn to this couple, and the fact that their story features one of my favorite tropes helps a lot.

Bring on the next in the series!

This series has quickly become one of my favorites from this author! The heroines are so relatable and the heroes are swoon worthy!! I can't wait for more!!

Viv and Archer have had a thing for one another for years, but kept silent about it seeing as she is his best friends little sister! But when the moment arises that Viv needs a fake fiance, Archer is the first to offer his services ... In anyway she needs.

This book was amazing and such a feel good read!! 10 out of 10, Would recommend!!

This lis book #3 in the Average Gents series, but this is he first book I’ve read in the series. It can easily be read as a standalone. It’s also dual point of view with short chapters, which I adore in romance novels.
Making the Cut is a fantastic friends to love, fake dating with her brother’s best friend romance novel. This was an extremely enjoyable, easy to get lost in love story that I read in a day! This book has a wonderful big group of friends of lovely people & it made me want to read the rest of the series & hear their stories. There was even a fun nod to the movie Pretty Woman, which won me over right away.
The main character, Vivian, is up for a big job that prioritizes family values & decides to partake in a fake fiancé situation to aid her in getting the job she’s more than qualified for. Who steps up to the plate to be her fake fiancé?! None other than her brother’s best friend, Archer, who grew up with their family & used to be close friends with Vivian as well.
I really enjoyed this book for the fact even though it had an outrageous fake dating aspect, it felt extremely realistic. It showcased the struggles of trying to balance a burgeoning relationship with time-consuming new jobs & careers. They were such an endearing pair that felt like friends I knew in real life. The couple was very supportive of each other & the entire friend group in general were the type of people that constantly rooted for & helped each other out. It was such a charming group of people that are simultaneously kind, entertaining & fun.
If anyone is looking for a new adorable romance, I would check out Making the Cut & the entire Average Gents series by J. S. Wood!

Massive thanks goes to Wildfire Marketing for the arc, which I voluntarily read & reviewed. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
