Mantis: A Novel Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 15 ratings

Chain-smoking bisexual, Mantis, finds herself amid a demon-littered apocalypse. With the book of Revelations unfurling before her very eyes, she recruits a reformed prostitute, a bubbly stripper, and a hopelessly smitten DJ to try to stop the biblical event in its tracks. Can the crew of misfit degenerates save the world before it's destroyed?

Locked and loaded with sinister creatures, violent villains, and a horny heroine with the charm of a rabid wolverine,
Mantis will take you on a blood-soaked road trip through the bowels of America's deep south and drop you on the doorstep of the Devil.

From the demented, award-winning author of Vanity Kills & Bad God's Tower comes a profane, blood-soaked novel full of guts, gore, and good times. A unique blend of Dogma and From Dusk Til Dawn, recommended for fans of Chuck Wendig's Blackbird and Christopher Moore's Lamb.

This book is all about the characters. You'd go with them anywhere because you love them. It's funny. It's fun. It's gory. It's action-packed. It's a B movie on paper and I'm here for it. I absolutely loved it. It's also refreshing to read a religious horror where you can tell the author is actually knowledgeable in their theology. There was only one minor detail in that department that irked me but it was not enough to detract from the excellence of the book.

This is such a fun and wild book! It’s got humor, horror, demons & sex! It’s a very enjoyable read and a really fast paced book.
(“The corset made from human skin” was one of my favorite lines!)
There are lots of powerful female characters, which is always awesome to see! The main Character Mantis, is definitely an exciting and wild person! The goal of the story is to find Betty’s son and deal with all of the craziness that leads up to that and afterwards as well. The ending was my favorite part of the story! So much going on that I wasn’t able to stop listening!

I feel like this is a great summer read! This author is definitely one to follow!

The narrator did a great job with the audio book!

Erica Summer did a fantastic job. From character to story development - she is one of few authors I’ve read start to finish without putting it down.

This was a fun read! I definitely enjoyed the characters and the storyline itself was interesting. It didn’t scare me, but it easily made me laugh on several occasions. Would recommend to anyone looking for a light-hearted semi-spooky story, with a few laughs. 🖤

This was really friggin good. I was blow away. I love me some Mantis. And Dylan definitely grows on you. I hope to see more of Mantis in the future. Even Betty brings her own brand of badness to the table. I thoroughly enjoyed the heck out of this book.

This was really well done, it had that horror element that I've been looking for from Erica Summers. I was hooked from the first page and thought the road trip element worked overall.

This was a fun book! Such a crazy and wild ride with of the most badass characters. Great female leads and What a fun book! It's such a crazy and wild ride with some of the most insane and badass characters. Once again, we get some very strong female leads and queer representation.

For me it was a bit hard to get into the book due to the sex scene right up front but the more I listened to it, I was able to get into it a bit more. A great blend of Genres and I love that in a book. It makes them interesting! The Horror and the Humor was great. The audiobook narration was one of the best I have heard in a while for this type book!
