Marcia has enjoyed writing for many years, but originally only for pleasure and friends or family. Marcia wrote Murderous Mishaps for a friend, who after regaling her with all the latest gossip said 'they wouldn't believe you if you wrote it down.' So she did. All based on true stories, but totally exaggerated, of course.

Since then, Marcia has written the ongoing Meredith & Hodge crime series. The Bearing Witness series, which has a touch of the paranormal & a cozy mystery series, The Little Compton Mysteries, and has recently released a new series, introducing JJ Jenson. There have also been a few standalone novels, but yes, they are all murder/mysteries. So far. . .

Marcia is married, with two children, two grandchildren and a German Shepherd - Ted. They live in Bristol, UK.

I love how the past intertwined with the present in another well crafted M&H read. The relationships between the main characters flows easily as they work together to solve another grisly crime. These books are so well written and thought out making them difficult to put down! Just started the next in the series, can’t wait!

It was nice to have new books in the Meredith and Hodge series as I had grown quite fond of them. Meredith actually has become more likable.

He had harsh words with his group of friends just before he drove off. Now those same friends are dying, one of them in a very brutal and ugly way. Well it has been 30 years so maybe the other deaths are natural or the accidents they appear to be. Meredith and Hodge are each looking at the deaths. Meredith into the obvious murder of one of the former friends. Hodge into the deaths of the rest of them. Just have to say that I hate when an author kills off a supporting character who has been a special part of the cast in all the prior novels.

“My Dearest Henry, if you are reading this, then I am dead.” Speaking from beyond the grave, Amy Cleaver has left the letter, and a cassette tape for her unwilling executor, Henry Duggan, Esq., because she feared something from her past would shuffle her off this mortal coil sooner than she wanted, and she was right. At first it looked like a simple accident – a hit-and-run during a rainstorm – but then others connected to Amy from her college years start dropping like flies. Meredith and Hodge get involved when Duggan, a friend of Meredith’s as well as his solicitor, goes to him for help.

I have been a huge fan of the Meredith and Hodge books since the first one. Okay, there was that Christmas themed story that sort of wandered off the rails, but by and large, the books are tightly written, gritty British police procedurals with fully-developed characters, intriguing, topical plots, and well-described settings. This book 11 did not disappoint.

I enjoy watching Meredith work with his team. He’s firm but fair, and he values their input in the case. I also appreciate that he treats Patsy as an equal – he did that even when she was on his team as well, before they got married. Their dialogue is always snappy, in a good way. There were a couple of wrinkles I didn’t expect in this story, and the ending was a surprise.

You could read these out of order, as the author provides just enough backstory to let you keep up with the new story. I always advocate for reading in order however; lots has happened to Meredith and Hodge and the rest of the team over the course of the books, and for me, knowing all the details makes each current book that much better. It’s like getting to visit with old friends who lead much more exciting lives than I do.

I have read all of Marcia’s books, usually online, this time I ordered a copy in print. I loved reading an actual book again.
Now for the story line !!! Wow wow wow , from start to finish, there are twists and turns ! I did not work out the culprit, kept me guessing ! What an ending - tissues were definitely needed. Loving this softer side of Meredith too.
Well done Marcia and can’t wait for the next one x

Yet again I find the typo errors irritating, poor editing by Amazon.
Regardless this was a story full of intrigue and suspense. Didn't take long to work out about the pregnancy or one of the killers. Despite that I was hooked and read the book in about 10 hours, allowing for comfort and sustenance breaks!
Looking forward to the next book and that conversation Meredith needs to have.

I will be quick with the review, only because I want to get to the next book.
I finished the ninth book earlier on today, then found book ten. I was so chuffed, and sat down and started reading, and now have finished, and I'm sorry to keep this short but I want to get to the next book.
And yes I can read at speed, but only when something is that good, and as much as I want to read I dread finishing unless I've got the next book lined up. And I have, so sod the housework, I'm going to start the next one now.?
All I can say is Please please please read this series it's worth its weight in gold. 😍😘
