Desperate In Delaware Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 86 ratings

I will wait no longer! Since my parents’ death I’ve been living with my sister’s family. I help care for her home and her adorable children. But, when will I have my own husband and children? There is not even one eligible man near my age in our small town. I hear the snickers and hurtful remarks—old maid, spinster, on the shelf. My cousin sent me a newspaper clipping from a Yours Truly: The Lovelorn’s column. Imagine my surprise when the letter to the columnist read as if I had written it. I’ll do it—I’ll follow the Lovelorn’s advice. I refuse to watch my life disappear until I’m left with only regrets!

Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To make up for this tragic error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains from a small office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued cats and dogs. The books she creates there have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards.

I love this sweet story! The characters and plots are great and I couldn't put the book down! Great job Caroline Clemmons! Mine was tried of taking care of her sister's children and wanted a family of her own... When her cousin sent her the clippings of The Lovelorn from the paper she took the advice and moved to her cousin's and found her husband. Austin decided it was time he got him a wife and when his best friend told him his wife's cousin was moving to town and he better get there before someone else got her first well... I recommend reading this book to learn what all happens. It has romance, danger and some mischief all rolled up in love.

Mins found her Mr. Wright! By following directions from a love lorn column went to visit her cousin in Texas. Within days she had met Austin and married him. If course it wasn't smooth sailing but it wouldn't be a good read if it was! Really I would love to hear more about the people in Palo Pinto !

I completely get being tongue tied, so I get Austin. I truly felt for him.

Although I figured out the secret that took Mina to Texas, I really liked the book.

Caroline Clemmons is one of my favorite authors and she has another hit with this “Yours Truly: Lovelorn” Book. “Desperate in Delaware” is a sweet Historical romance, not a cliffhanger and has action as well as a happily ever after. Great read!

Mina Stapleton was living with her sister after their parents died. She helped taking care of the children. Lilly felt Mina should find love for herself. Receiving a letter from her cousin Cindy ,she found a newspaper clipping from lovelorn. It described her situation to a T. The answer told her to find a new place to stay or live. She wrote to her cousin Cindy to see if she could stay for awhile. What does Mina discover? Would she find love? What would her life be like? Read this wonderful story that is similar to Dear Abby. I truly enjoyed it. I received this book as a gift and all words are strictly my own.

First off, this book was once part of the "Yours Truly: The Lovelorn" series. When that series was discontinued, this book was changed to a standalone book, and is no longer part of a series.

This was an OK mail-order bride romance, with mostly likable characters, but it was just too short to have enough character development. I needed more backstory on both Mina and Austin. It gets 3 stars from me.

I got a little frustrated with Austin at times, because he seemed to get angry a lot. I get that he was worried about the the danger to his ranch and animals from the mining -- but that was no reason to snap at Mina when she wanted to protect him.

I liked Mina, but thought she adapted a little too easily to life on an isolated ranch. After all, she was used to living in town.

I did think the problem with the miners was resolved a little too easily. Their demise was just a little too convenient.

This is a clean romance, with nothing but kisses. Sex within marriage is mentioned, but it is not described. If you only want to read romances that do not include sex scenes, this one might work for you.

    My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Good clean romance where with a little help from the Lovelorn article, Mina takes the plunge and moves from acting as a nanny to her sister's kids with no options of marriage, to her cousin's town where there are plenty of options. After a long train ride and a grueling stagecoach ride, will Mina find her husband?
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it
