Claimed by the Mountain Man: An MM Small Town Romance Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 42 ratings

Two broken men. One chance at love. A connection neither can deny. And a claiming they both need.

Cooper Jackson served his country honorably; he came home damaged but determined. In the blink of an eye, he went from soldier to bartender, back home slinging drinks at his family’s bar. He expects quiet, solitude, the same bar regulars he’s known since childhood, and for his grandfather to be all up in his business. What he doesn’t expect is to be dumbstruck when the mountain-man version of Adonis, aka Gage Holloway, walks into his bar. And he certainly doesn’t expect their obvious instant connection. But when Gage denies that connection and all but ignores him, Cooper makes it his mission to tame this surly mountain man. And as a former Army Ranger, Cooper is no stranger to difficult missions… or difficult men.

Gage Holloway moved to Fire Mountain to escape his past—the job he never wanted, the family that never understood him, and the crushing guilt and grief of his former life. He ruins everything (and everyone) he touches, so now he just wants to be left alone where he can’t hurt anyone else. He nurses a drink at the local bar most nights sat alone in a secluded booth, so he can feel like he’s still part of the world without actually engaging it. He was fine on his own until a blond-haired, brown-eyed temptation in the form of the most beautiful man he’s ever seen upends his carefully-crafted, solitary existence. But there’s a reason Gage avoids human connection, and he’s not about to let Cooper Jackson make him forget… even if that’s the one thing his heart most wants.

Claimed by the Mountain Man is a grumpy/sunshine, small-town romance between an obstinate and reclusive mountain-of-a-man and an optimistic soldier-turned-bartender determined to drag his mountain man back into the world… and into his bed. There’s plenty of sexy swagger, flirty winks, protective behavior, thin mints obsession, sassy grandfathers, glamping romance, and a satisfying HEA!

First of all, Cooper is an absolute delight. He's not perfect and has his own issues to deal with, but he's a joy. Gage is a broken hunk of a mountain man, and I just want to hug him so hard.

This is a beautiful love story that will make you laugh and cry. The characters are realistic and the world building is wonderful.

Gage has always lived his life for everyone except himself. He no longer believes he deserves to be loved.

Cooper is a lil ray of sunshine, but that sunshine hides what's inside. He has set his eyes on Gage and is in it for the long haul.

There are trigger warnings for this book, please make sure to read them before beginning.

This heartfelt and sweet small-town love story truly tugs at the emotions. From the beginning, Gage and Coby have a strong connection—an undeniable attraction that’s impossible to ignore. But this story shines because it dives so deeply into their emotional pasts.

Gage and Coby carry heavy burdens from earlier in life—wounds that make it difficult for them to move forward. As their stories unfold, I could feel the weight of their guilt, despair, and anguish. What struck me most was how those feelings weren’t born of their own mistakes but of circumstances beyond their control.

The pacing of their relationship was perfect. I appreciated how they took things slow, allowing trust to grow between them. It made their bond feel genuine and earned. Just when you think they might crumble under the weight of their pasts, life throws them both a curveball. But instead of falling apart, they stand together—stronger as a team. That moment, when both of their pasts come knocking, is absolutely heart-stopping and powerful.

This is a story about healing, connection, and love that doesn’t rush but builds something solid and lasting. With a satisfying happily-ever-after, Claimed by the Mountain Man is a beautiful, emotional romance that stays with you long after the last page.

Life has a way of pushing us to where we need to be.

This book is sad but is so real. Tears flowed many times as I read.

The old statement is true, time has a way of healing deep wounds.

This book is a quick read, grumpy/sunshine, and hurt/comfort ish story. It wasn’t very long, so it isn’t drawn out unnecessarily. There’s a grumpy sunshine dynamic, with Gage being the grump. Although he’s not really, just hurting. And the hurt comfort bit is on both the main character ends. They both have some stuff they struggle with, and are able to open up with the other. There was a bit of inconsistency with Cooper’s name at the end, but I’m not sure if that was just the copy I received, as I was lucky to get an arc. This book isn’t super spice heavy throughout. The action happens at the end, so to speak lol. There was a lot of fun banter and sass and some heavy stuff mentioned, like death, military experiences and homophobia. It isn’t a heavy book though, there’s a lot of lightness to it. Overall a good story to read in between longer books, or if you don’t want to commit to a long story!

If you're looking for a cozy, heartwarming romance with just a little spice, Claimed by the Mountain Man is your perfect read! Denver Shaw does an amazing job with the characters, making them both lovable and relatable. The pacing was spot on and each chapter flowed really well, keeping me interested and ready for more.

What I particularly loved was how the spicy moments came at the end, keeping the story grounded in that sweet, slow-burn romance that had me rooting for these two from start to finish.

And then there’s the dinosaur bed. Honestly, that scene might just be the highlight of the book! It was so unexpectedly adorable and quirky that I couldn’t stop smiling. I do wish we'd gotten a little more closure on the whole dinosaur bed.

I believe this is my first MM Mountain Man book, I didn’t realize what the genre and tropes were until a was a few pages in. By that time I was captivated and couldn’t put it down.
Gabe held so much pain inside. Jacob had his own problems. Together, through tenderness, trust, and love, Gabe, and Jacob healed.
I felt the characters were incredible, and the storyline was written so well.

Claimed by the Mountain Man is part of the Men of Fire Mountain Series. This is a small town, love at first sight, M/M romance.
Cooper is back in Fire Mountain after being injured in the military. Gage is in Fire Mountain after a tragedy took his family. Can two broken soles find love and happiness in the mountain?
The story was well written and the Characters were well developed. It was a very fast read and I would have loved to see how their relationship developed over the three months from the last chapter to the epilogue. Also, did the little boy like his dragon bed?

I love Mountain Man stories! I'll buy the story that even just hints to it, this one was a perfect one for me, the mountain man claimed by an ex-army cocky young man who also suffers from PTSD. It's a slow start at first as cooper tries hard to draw Gage (mountain man) out of his silent self, a roaring thunder storm helps that. But Gage himself has his demons that haunt him. A sometimes sad tale as these two men struggle at times with life.

This story is a book with two characters, who are both heavily burdened from their past.

The attraction and connection are instant, but both are hesitant to act on it.

This book is an emotional and heartfelt story full of trauma, healing, guilt, connection, trust and love.

It is perfectly paced, slower, but that is what this story needed. They needed time to build trust and bond deeply.

    It’s sweet, emotional and beautiful.
