I've been trying to find resources to learn Swiss German more intuitively, and this book is exactly what I've been hoping for! Each chapter is a manageable length and includes an audio file so you can easily follow along and get used to the sounds of the language. The grammar and vocabulary explanations after each chapter are clear and relevant, but not overwhelming. It's just the right amount of support. The story itself is engaging, so learning feels fun! With so few resources available for learning Swiss German, this book is a true gem, and I'm really looking forward to more books like this in the future.

Great Story and an amazing tool to learn the Swiss Dialect!
This is a book that goes very well with the "Swiss German Unlocked" by Andrea. We see in this book how the grammar rules and the vocabulary is used in daily situations. The book contains all the chapters in three languages (English, German, and Swiss dialect) which makes very easy to understand not only the words but the whole meaning and intention of each phrase. It caught my attention that the story is written in a very good literary level. Meaning that you dont find basic and boring sentences, but instead you are delighted with a narrative full of emotion and creativity, a story that is told using a rainbow of the language to describe in full the places, the characters, their emotions and more. In each chapter we see how the autor makes emphasis using bold letters on the words that are genuinily Swiss, helping the reader to understand what are those everyday words that we should have in our vocabulary. In addtion, each chapter also contains an "important grammar" section in English, where we can learn the meaning and use of very important Swiss constructions, pronuncitation tips and grammar rules in general. I recommend it to everyone who wants to learns or improve their Swiss language skills, begginner or advance. More than one book!
As a native English speaker learning both German and Swiss German, this book is perfect for me. You get the Swiss German story, plus a German and English translation. If you're going to live and work in Switzerland, then you need to master regular German (Hochdeutsch). If you want to socialise (in the German part) then you need to understand Swiss German.SimonMore than one book!

I find that with German I can read new words and easily work out how to pronounce them. But that's not the case with Swiss German, partly because there's no formal written version. That's why the inclusion of audio files, where Andrea reads each chapter are invaluable.
On top of that, I love the Thomas character Andrea created for TikTok and Instagram. He's so funny! And so I bought this book partly so I could spend more time with Thomas. Andrea has not only translated the book into 2 languages, but she's also translated that same brilliant humour into text form. As well, the stories take you on a trip around Switzerland. So it's a Swiss travel book as well!
