Summer Island: The perfect summer read for right now –it will make you laugh and smile! (A Very Hygge Holiday, Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 430 ratings

He never meant to stay.
He certainly never meant to fall in love…

Summer Island off the coast of Norway was the place London chef Jack Greene should have been from. He’s an outsider in the community that should have been his family, and now he’s setting foot on the strange land he has inherited for the first time.

Ninni Toft, his nearest neighbour, has come to the island to mend her broken heart. With her wild spirit and irrepressible enthusiasm, she shows city-boy Jack the simple pleasures of island life – and what it means to belong. To a place. To a people. To one person in particular…

Home is where the heart is, but is Jack’s heart with the career he left behind in London, or on the wind-swept shores of Summer Island, with Ninni?

Summer Island is just what you need right now! Don’t believe us? Look at what our readers think:

*Update* Christmas Island has now been proof-read and a new version has been uploaded and approved.

Natalie Normann writes cosy, contemporary romance novels set on a lovely, although windy, island on the West Coast of Norway. The island itself is fictional, and inspired by her own upbringing and culture, that sometimes seems to consist mostly of bad weather and delicious baked goods. (On the island the weather is always lovely. Mostly). She has written historical romance series, thrillers, children's books in Norwegian. Summer Island and Christmas Island are her first books in English. At the moment she's working on a new, exciting project and can't wait to share it with everyone.

A wonderful story full of memorable characters and references to food and activities and scenery of a Norwegian Island. I so enjoyed going there in my mind as I read the book. When you can't book the trip, a book to read is the next best thing.

A romance set in Norway...look no further!

A delightful narrative set against a beautiful island backdrop off the west coast of Norway. Laugh out loud as Jack becomes acquainted with Island life and more importantly with Ninni.

Overall, a quick holiday read with a happy ending.

Thank you NetGalley and One More Chapter for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Norway was not a country I knew a lot about prior to reading this book and I really enjoyed the change in scenery. I would recommend if you're interested in:

    -Frenemies to lovers
    -Travel romance
    -close proximity
    -Sheep that look like goats
-A small island and close community
    -Sheep that look like goats

This was a light and fun summer read. I truly enjoyed Ninni and Jack as separate characters but their romance didn't connect for me. I still have no idea why they were interested in each other other than attraction. I enjoyed reading about the small island community, Jack learning more about his family and his adventures on the island. This is a closed door romance. I do wish there was more to the romance but overall a fun read.

I absolutely loved this book by Natalie Normann. Her two characters of Jack and Ninni were complex, beautifully written and their arcs are adeptly drawn. There is a beautiful tone and cadence to this writing - seemingly succinct on the surface but with great depth, each word obviously chosen with care to reveal the heart and soul of these characters' lives.

Highly recommended and can't wait for Christmas Island.

I don't normally read romances at all, but this came up when I was really bored with my current reading material, so I thought, "why not". It's a lovely tale of unexpected love, and was nicely written. No smouldering dark looks, no chiselled torsos, it was refreshing! Mostly set on a Norwegian island, this makes for a lovely light and wholly enjoyable read.

A very sweet story with some lovely imagery. I want to visit this island! The ending was a little abrupt, but still an easy read overall.
