From the Back Cover
Complacent, we turned inward.
We had given up on our quest to learn our place in the universe.
Then our hand was forced by fate.
A calamity unforeseen.
In the struggle to survive, would we lose ourselves in myth and ignorance, or seek the answer to the greatest question: Are we alone?
A collection of science fiction stories from new and established authors, brought together through the Twitch streaming platform.

About the authors
John Hoggard has been writing for as long as he can remember, his first publishing successes coming in the Hartlepool Mail "Chipper Club" aged 6. Since then he's continued to write mainly in the Science-Fiction and Fantasy genres, winning prizes for his "fan-fic" of the Star Trek franchise in his twenties at the various Conventions he attended.
In June 2012 John won the Biting Duck Press "Science in Fiction" Short Story Competition. (It helps that John has degrees in Physics and Computer Science)
In November 2012, John's SF short story Baby Babble was included in the Anthology Fusion by Fantastic Books Publishing.
In October 2014 John contributed two pieces of flash fiction to a charity horror anthology, Ten Deadly Tales.
In May 2016, John's had two SF short stories All in the Mind and The House was included in the Anthology Synthesis also by Fantastic Books Publishing.
John was most recently published in the horror anthology '666', where his 666-word story 'Headhunted' was highly commended by the editors of the anthology.
He's a regular contributor to the Paragraph Planet website, having over 50 stories published there and although he loves the short story format he's also working on a novel.

Glenn Frank life-long fan of science fiction who lives in southern California with his wife, daughter and son. Glenn has always worked in creative fields such as photography, graphic design, and web development. A collaborative anthology project started by author and friend, Drew Wagar, inspired him to reclaim his childhood enjoyment of writing and storytelling.
Glenn does not work for NASA, but he likes to think he does.
Drew Wagar is a science fiction and fantasy author, living in the UK. He is the author of the Hegira Saga, the Shadeward Saga, The Midnight Chronicles, the Elect Saga and the official Elite Dangerous novelisations.

Alan's latest work is the science fiction novel 'A Suggestion in Space' published by Fantastic Books Publishing. It's an interstellar adventure with love, coming of age, secrets and surprises, tragedy and joy.
In 2017 Alan won the Julia Bradbury prize for capturing the spirit of the Wolds with his short story ‘Trains of Thought’ which was also published by Fantastic Books Publishing in the collection ‘Dreaming of Steam.’ Since then they have published four further stories of his in their anthologies.
Working as a chemical engineer and taking a keen interest in science and astronomy has helped him to put his science fiction in realistic settings with believable technology even if it hasn’t been invented yet and he always enjoys including the human side of any story as well.
Retiring in 2020 from an industrial career has given him more time to pursue his writing.
He lives in England with his wife Jane. They have three children and three grandchildren.
I am a first-time author currently of science fiction and will continue to write trying other genres as I go along.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThe story line was very well developed and the stories themselves are riveting! If you're looking for a different style of writing with a great plot and solid execution, this book is it. A lot of unexpected turns, details, and each author had a slightly different writing style which adds to the experience. Glossary and maps are included to help understand the world and timeline.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseOrdered this book just because I know one of the authors, but found it to be a great read! Interesting concept, like a series of short stories following a common thread. Though it’s sci-fi in content, the characters and relationships make it appealing to a more general audience.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI've always been a reader but have never ventured into the science fiction genre. This was a good introduction for me. The stories were engaging, and I enjoyed them very much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read. For anyone who likes a sci-fi come possible sci-fact, give it a go.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI read a book at the weekend. We were away for a couple of days and I ordered "Nine Streams of Consciousness"
Dislikes: It only lasted two days.
Likes: The way the book was produced from nine different aspects
The way the book was written by nine different authors.
The way humanity progressed, regressed, then progressed again in the timeline.
The typical human shoot first attitude to other species.
The wonder left hanging about Barnards Star.
It was a great read, and the way most of the stories ended with a critical person in that part of the story, was a wrench each time.

4.0 out of 5 stars New beginnings in every sense.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is an intriguing and ambitious project whereby 9 authors ranging from highly experienced through to fledgling artists have collaborated to create this series of tales from different points of view along a chronological path from Humanity's discovery that life on Earth was effectively doomed, right through to making a go of it in a strange, enigmatic and surprising new star system. The book has many gems in it. Avenues of exploration along that timeline have been opened. Some were subsequently closed, but several scenarios are set fair for further adventures to come and I hope to see that come to fruition.
We could be seeing the birth of some future fully fledged novelist in this project.

5.0 out of 5 stars A vast universe in your hands
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI love the chronological approach to writing a book that takes please over millennia. Most of these authors have never written anything before and I'm really impressed with what they have accomplished.
If you love sci-fi and concepts of the future of mankind, this book is for you. I can't wait for the next instalment. My only question is, how many "daylongs" will it take. 😂

3.0 out of 5 stars A Second Chance
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is a pleasing collection of short stories from some new, and some not so new, authors looking at a single strand of humanity's future in interstellar space.
Together the writers have created a world of wonder and danger that follows a possible future for the descendants of a doomed Earth.
An entertaining premise that leads to...No spoilers here!
Read and enjoy.
I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars The story flows!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhat would happen if the Earth was going to be destroyed in a few short years? How would humanity react when it realised?
Here is the answer - or at least, one possible answer. Grown from the musings of a group of people and written as a series of short stories by individual authors, Nine Streams of Consciousness flows easily from tale to tale.
