Review: This was my first book by Samantha, and it definitely won't be my last. This is book 5 in The Highland's series, but it was my first, so they can definitely be read out of order. Callie has just returned home to Ardnoch after spending time at a pastry school in France. Lewis has been gone in London for years and knows he needs to go back home. Callie & Lewis were childhood sweethearts who haven't seen each other in 7 years. I melted at their reunion. I absolutely loved the flashbacks to their teenage love story that brought us full circle. These two are the definition of soul mates! They were just meant to be and there was no denying it! The chemistry and banter between them, the emotion they pulled out of me...they kept me on the edge of my seat, needing to know what happened next! I just found out that we first meet Callie & Lewis in book 1, Beyond the Thistles, as kids! So I DEFINITELY need to read that one soon! I absolutely LOVED the side characters as well. Eilidh & Fyfe captured my attention and wouldn't let go! I NEED their story! I was so relieved when I found out they would be next in Forever the Highlands!!! Brother's Best Friend is MY FAVORITE!🤭 I got to listen to the audiobook by @shane & @zara and they did such a PHENOMENAL job bringing these two to life with all of the different accents. I freaking loved it and felt like I was literally in the Highlands! It made me so happy! Now I need to go to see if the Adairs will adopt me!😁

    I am also still stuck in the Highlands, I sort of have a book hangover, where I got an HEA, but I didn't want the story to end, and now I cannot wait for the next book in the series because I can't wait to go back!

    Callie and Lewis. Best friends since they were kids, turned childhood sweethearts. Miscommunication, hurt feelings, and a lack of maturity that comes with being only 17/18 at the time leads these two soulmates to turn from lovers to enemies in the blink of an eye.

    Fast forwards 7 years, and Callie and Lewis are living their new lives. Lewis lives in London as an architect, while Callie is returning home to Ardnoch after graduating school in Paris to become a pastry chef and learn more to take home to her mom's bakery. When fates align, Callie and Lewis cross paths, and are brought together again for one whiskey fueled night, where some hurts are brought to the service but they both realize that everything that was once there is still there and the love they have hasn't gone away.

    Callie, after dealing with a lifetime of hurt and trauma from her past, runs away back to what she thinks is the safety of Ardnoch.
    Lewis, knowing that he can't live without her and the regret he feels from not trying harder, runs back to her and the place he left behind.

    Now both back at Ardnoch, Callie and Lewis have to learn how to both live in this tiny village again, dealing with the gossip and their pasts, especially when they discover that their night together in London is not going away anytime soon.

    Callie is so incredibly strong. I love her strength, how she persevered after what happens with her birth father, how she goes after what she wants, but she is so stubborn! Callie and her mom's relationship is the cutest thing I have ever seen, and I want more.
    Lewis. Gah, I wanted to cuff him upside the head. But, I also understand what he was saying. He was a kid, he made a mistake. Callie took it out on him, even though he should have also understood where she was coming from. They should have talked about their plans for college before he discussed it with his friend.

    Callie and Lewis had a lot of maturing to do. I wish it didn't cost them so much time, but maybe they needed it. They needed to grow and mature a little. I think Lewis especially needed to get away from Ardnoch, to live and see somewhere else, to appreciate what he had.

    I love this story. I love Callie and Lewis. Loved the element of suspense, and the added "omg what is happening right now". Adds a bit of excitement!

    Cannot wait for Forever the Highlands. I think I'm going to cry, because its the final book. I love this series.

    This was one of those books where I really liked the second half of the book but could have done without the first half. I was really looking forward to this book because I knew it was Callie and Lewis and having watched them grow up throughout two series, I was expecting a lot out of them.

    In the first half I found myself skimming through the flashbacks to Callie and Lewis’ teen years. I found they weren’t really essential to the current plot and just wanted to get to their current situation. Lewis was really the star of this book. He was so devoted to Callie and it took some time for me to really start to relate to Callie.

    Callie and Lewis were always meant to be and the second half of the book really dove into that. They had some tough talks and really worked to get their relationship on stable ground. I liked that they didn’t try to just jump back into their relationship, it had been seven years and they were both teens when they broke up. They had to find their way as adults.

    Even though I wasn’t a huge fan of the first half of this book, I ended up really liking it. I liked the little glimpses of the second generation of Adairs. I liked the rekindled romance. I even liked the small suspense plot. I’m both excited for the next book and sad that it’s the last in this series. I’m not ready to leave the Highlands behind!

    Ah, young love... More often than not, your first love turns out to be your first heartbreak, and in the case of Callie Ironside and Lewis Adair, that's exactly what happened. There love story plays out in Northern Twilight, the fifth novel in Samantha Young's The Highlands series set in, you guessed it, the Scottish Highlands. If you're a longtime reader of Young's, you'll recall that Callie and Lewis are the next generation in The Adair Family and The Highlands series, the former being the spin-off of the latter. Lewis is the son of Regan Penhaligon and Thane Adair (There with You, The Adair Family #2); Callie is the daughter of Sloane Harrow and step-daughter of Walker Ironside (Beyond the Thistles, The Highlands #1).

    Callie has loved Lewis for years, and the same can be said for Lewis, but he also dreams of a life beyond Ardnoch. When doubt overrides love, the unthinkable happens--Callie and Lewis break up. He goes off to London for university at 18 with hopes to follow his father's footsteps as an architect. On the other hand, Callie remains in Ardnoch, choosing to go to Paris at 22 to pursue training to become a pastry chef. She has relationships start and end, but upon learning her latest romance has concluded, Lewis decides to take his father up on his offer to work with him just as Callie returns home to work with her mother at the bakery they own. They were each other's first love, but could they be their last--and forever--one, too?

    l loved seeing Callie and Lewis grow and mature in this novel. There was no doubt that they loved each other immensely, but when you're young, you may have other dreams that go beyond a fairy tale-styled happily-ever-after that's solely focused on romance. I think going through that break-up allowed these two to have experiences that they may not have been able to actually have had they stayed together. I also appreciated the fact that their respective parents and families allowed Callie and Lewis to make their mistakes. After all, they learned important life lessons because of those stumbles. Like the books before it, Northern Twilight matched the romance with suspense impeccably well, and it easily snags five stars.

    'Northern Twilight' tells Callie and Lewis story; childhood sweethearts that breakup just as both are on the cusp of adulthood. Oh God did I feel this one down to my bones. It's that all consuming love where the person is everything to you and you can't imagine a future that doesn't feature them as your anchor to the world. And then that person is gone...And what's left is shadows and dull feelings and an untethered restlessness that time doesn't even heal. I mourned their teenage loss like it was my own.

    Reading their story, seeing them come back to one another was special and cathartic and had me turning page after page without stopping!

    Young has created an amazing world in Ardnoch. All the stories in the series are fantastically written, engaging and always leave you wanting the next story straight away. They offer so much; romance, spice, suspense...What more could you want?😊

This is Lewis and Callie’s story, who have been best friends since they were little and then first loves. It’s been seven years since they had a horrible break up, he being in London and trying to figure out how it all went wrong, and she has been trying to move on. An unexpected reunion in London leads to passion and a one night stand. Now Lewis moves back to their hometown and is determined to win back the love of his life.
    This book is magnificent and it’s obvious that Callie and Lewis are destined for each other! Not only is this a beautiful second chance romance, there also is a surprise pregnancy and some suspense. I love these two and how they work to overcome the mistakes they both made in the past.
    I really enjoyed the chapters that are in the past because it really shows how deep the love and relationship is between Lewis and Callie. They might have grown up but they still understand each other and despite their previous heartbreak, they are each other’s safe space. Plus their chemistry is so incredible and leads to some hot moments!
    Callie is still fierce, independent, stubborn, and kind. Lewis is still mature, super protective, and such a sweetheart. Now he’s big like his uncles, has longer hair, and is tattooed, so you know, the perfect MMC. I loved seeing these two as adults, as well as seeing all the other characters. Especially Walker as Callie’s protective dad.
    I have to quickly mention the suspense element because it had me suspicious of a lot of people. However my first, and craziest, theory was correct!
    This is my new favourite of the series and I can’t believe there’s only one book left!

    This one of my most anticipated reads and it most definitely lived up to my expectations!

    I honestly wasn’t sure if we were going to get a Callie and Lewis book but I’m so glad we did!

    Callie and Lewis were high school sweethearts but something happened before they graduated that caused them to split.

    We dive into the book 7 years later, Lewis is in London finishing his university degree and Callie is in Paris going to culinary school. We have no clue what happened to them and why they split up.. yet. They end up bumping into each other at party. They decide to talk, one thing leads to another and they have a one night stand.

    After their night together, Lewis is even more determined to win Callie back. Callie isn’t sure if she wants that. There’s still a lot of hurt between about the break up but they do know they still love each other. Fate ends up interfering, when Callie finds out she’s pregnant.

    God I loved this book so much! I loved that we got flashbacks of them together in high school and what eventually split them apart.

    While it was sad to see them apart, I definitely felt that it was needed. Both of them had been through traumatic experiences that still plague them. And while you can see they are perfect for each other, they were still young and hadn’t experienced life without their support systems. They still had so much growing up to do.

    I loved how determined Lewis was to win Callie back. I mean he saved their old messages and remembered the dates she wanted to go on and made them possible. And got a tattoo of her on himself

    I loved Callie! And that she was able to see that she played a bigger role in their break up and that she could admit she was partly at fault, but again they were young and inexperienced.

    Watching Callie and Lewis come back to each other was beautiful. I honestly teared up a few times. I’m so happy they reconnected because they are soulmates!

    I loved that we got to see the whole family’s, especially my favourite couple Thane and Regan! I have so much love for this family and hope we get a next generation!

    And it wouldn’t a Highlands book without some suspense! Love the way Samantha weaves it throughout the her books!

    I literally read this book in one day! I honestly could not put it down! And I seriously can’t wait for the next one! I hope it’s about who I think it is!👀
