Not That Kind of Demon (Assassin's Alley Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 521 ratings

Hybrid shifter Cyrus was really happy in his life. He'd seen the dark side of life, and was content to fix cars and small motors in his rural workshop. His animal sides had plenty of space to run around during his down time, and there was a bakery next door to the workshop. A man didn't need much else in life. Until a car stopped in for a quick fix, and Cyrus caught the scent of something he never dreamed he'd find... his fated mate. Shame it wasn't the driver of the car, but then when was life ever easy?

Assassin demon Python was seriously thinking about going back to the Underworld. His job was a good one, and he had clearance for it from the Underworld Office, but even Lord Hades had no idea how much Python missed being with his friends and family. Still, a job was a job, and he had made friends with his fellow assassins quickly enough. But while checking his car, after his PA was late picking him up, Python caught a sniff of the impossible on his leather seats. Maybe the Underworld could wait for a while.

Cyrus and Python were both happy with Fates' choice for them, but other people weren't so pleased. Lord Hades can't work out why Python isn't doing his job, and there's another man who'd do anything to see Cyrus out of Python's life completely. Will they find peace in Assassin's Alley, or does the Fates have a different future in mind for these two?

Not That Kind of Demon is the first book in a new series, although it can be read as a standalone as each new book in the series will focus on a different couple. This story was written with mature readers in mind. Please store your ebooks responsibly.

Hi

My name is Lisa Oliver and welcome to my Amazon Author page. I recently celebrated my tenth year anniversary of the release of my first MM paranormal book, The Reluctant Wolf, and absolutely love my characters and the wonderful readers who support me. Now with more than one hundred books under my belt, I have no plans to stop spreading the love my wonderful characters deserve.

My current series include:

The Cloverleah Pack (Now finished with thirteen full novels and two short story books)

Stockton Wolves (Now finished with five books)

Bound and Bonded (now finished with six books)

Alpha and Omega

The Gods Made Me Do It (a Cloverleah pack spin off series)

Balance

City Dragons

Arrowtown

The Necromancer's Smile trilogy

Northern States Pack

Quirk of Fates

The Arranged Marriage Series

Assassin's Alley

The Hellhound Collar Series

As you can guess I love men who love men, vampires, shifters, Fae and the true mate trope. In every book I ensure there is no cheating, and there is an HEA and many of my books can be read as a standalone. In my head two (or three) men may be mates, but it takes a special kind of journey to find love, and that is the ambition I have for every single one of my MCs.

I love to hear from my readers so feel free to get in touch via my blog, email, Facebook or twitter profile.

This is the first story of a new series set in the The Gods Made Me Do It world (a Cloverleah spin off series). If you've read those series you'll see some familiar characters, but this series can be read stand alone as well. You'll miss a bit of the background, but not overly much. It is a bit shorter a more of a fun light read compared to the other two series, but it's not rushed and I had a great time reading it.
As usual, the world and character building is amazing. Despite the title, this is not a dark romance. The story is a very low angst demon-shifter romance, with a small series cliffhanger, action (assassination style, but not overly graphic and has a HEA. Somehow the story gives me the impression the author really enjoyed herself writing it. I can't wait for the next one. Highly recommended.

Wonderful set up for a new series. This is a light story intruding everyone. Not a sexy story. I would call it a cuddly warm embrace with giggles and smiles. These characters tantalize me.

This is a great start to a new series. The main characters were lovable and fun to read about. There could have been a deeper plot and handling of Ethan. That part felt rushed. I will definitely read the next book in the series.

I enjoyed this story a lot. When I think of demons I automatically think evil. In this book the evil is a human and the shifters and other paranormal beings are trying to kill the worst of the worst so the world is a safer place to live.

    A really good read.

I think this has the best “first meeting “ between mates that I’ve ever read. And I read a lot. It’s got great characters. Great storyline leading up to a new series. Just the right amount of humor and intimate moments. It was enjoyable all around and I can’t wait to read the 2nd book.

What a great start to another series. It's nice to see this author on her own again. I haven't really liked the collaborations with JP Sayle. Not to say Sayle is not a good author on her own, I just don't think they compliment each other very well. Anyway, this was such a cute story and I loved Cyrus. I thought the story moved well and there was plenty of tension and a good bad guy. It was also nice to see Hades in this story but you know we all wanted to see Ali, who is one of the author's best and cutest of the "Gods Made Me Do It" mates. Loved the fact that this book wasn't all about the sex and angst. There's too much angst in the real world right now, I don't need it in my reading. Love this author for allowing me to escape into another world for a time. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

The way she linked the series to the past books is awesome. It was done in line with the previously written books. Many authors stray from previous stories or mixup things but lisa never does. I always feel like she writes with talent but also with enough care to her previous books that don't override what was written previously. Enough info dripped to make you curious about her past books but also feel caught up on if just starting.

Very well done and the care she puts forth into her work is something to respect.

I hope this helps anyone and I hope you smile as I did when reading as well.

A demon and a hybrid shifter finding true love. This is a good book. But then, most of the books that I have read by this author are good. I am goi g to read this series.

I loved this book. Yes,I do say that about most of the books I read. That doesn’t make it any less true, however ever. I’m good at picking interesting books and excellent authors. That said this book was an utter joy to read. It had delightfully entertaining characters and a great storyline, lots of heat and a good dash of humour. The Lexus almost caused a love triangle, mind. I completely understand Python wanting to sell it. Highly recommend the book. Enjoy!

I really liked the interactions between characters. Exactly the type of writing I enjoy the most. I laughed when they were describing bulls in a china shop as I remember watching Mythbusters testing that saying out by setting up a pretend store with china on shelves. Turns out the bulls did well. Lol.
