Nameless Darkness (The Raven Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 112 ratings

Legends become myths told around campfires, as storytellers weave tales of heroes and villains, kings and queens, and the ancient beasts they slay. However, many forget that a small kernel of truth slumbers in those fairy tales.

Truths have a way of being revealed and remembered. The nightmares that haunt us are real. The dark holds more than just shadows. And beside us, immortals walk this world because theirs is dying. And it’s their own damn fault. Nightmares walk the streets, ride the bus, and sit beside you at the bar. They flirt, they dance, and they tease with a sensual predatory instinct. He finds me alone in that alley. A chance meeting with a handsome stranger that lasts no more than a mere moment. If only I knew that was the beginning of the end. If only I knew that was how he’d lure me, Bette Morgan, to my death.

Nameless Darkness is Book 1 of 3 in The Raven series, a slow burn paranormal reverse harem love story. MM MF

At first I didn't think I was going to like it. Didn't like the beginning and thought Bette was going to be a MC I hated. I found it hard to follow at first as well wasn't sure what was going on. It started getting much better once balor stepped into the picture. She became more likable after the scene at the mall and with her feelings about the men. By the end I was liking Bette the guys and the relationship development. I'm looking forward to next one. The moral of the story is hang in there until the end and I think it's worth it. Don't take to long to release the next one please

I wanted to give this book a higher rating since it really was an interesting read, but unfortunately there was a couple of things that held me back. One of those was the first of the book and the immediate dislike of the h and her behaviour and outlook, add in the slow start and confusion I about gave up a few times.

Luckily several reviewers warned to stick through the first part, and they were right it got a lot better. At first it was a slow and not liking the h didn't help but starting in chapter 5 and around 20% things start to slowly get better and I decided to see where this new development was going and then before I knew it I was sucked in.

One of the things I loved was how she wanted to get to know the guys and not just jump them like she would have done before she was changed. I'm okay with Insta lust but I'm not okay with all the Insta love going around where they just met and 24 hours later they've already slept together and in love and talking forever. Kudos author for giving us time to get to know the guys and see them start to fall for each other as it is always the best part.I

As horrible as the h starts off being there is growth and desire to change and I'm sure the next book will expound on that. Action and mystery and a new take on old myths and overall a satisfying read. Besides the start that could use some work my only other issue was that at around 96% there was some foreshadowing for m/m in the harem. I wish authors would leave warning after the blurb if the series will have m/m for those who like it to be all about the girl. I do appreciate the foreshadowing though as it always makes me upset when it happens 2-3 or more books into the series without warning. Now if I choose to continue the series or not I'm not sure but if I do at least out will be with full knowledge of what to expect.

This series and author have so much potential! I urge you to give it a read and stick through those first few chapters because if you do you'll find it was worth it.

Absolutely love this series, absolutely love this author. Anything this author writes is worth the price and I'm beyond angry that Amazon pulled this series. Went back for a reread in KU and it's unavailable- not to read, not to buy.

Kind of interesting when you add a raven, a leprachan, a tyrant king , a king of the sea and a witch together and then take a human girl with no morals and put them all together. I'll have to wait until the next book comes out to be sure.

This was a great story! It was so descriptive. It pulled me right in. The storyline was amazing! I loved the worldbuilding, and adventure in the book. It was full of twists, and kept me on my toes. The characters are wonderful and unique. I loved them. The dialogue has been great between the characters, and helps paint the picture. I can't wait for the next book.

So the first 60-65% of the book is slow, dreadfully slow, but the last 40% of the book flies by. I feel like we barely scratched the surface of this world and spent a lot of time on world building. Hopefully the next book picks up ths pace.
