Never Fall for Your Fake Fiancé (especially not on Valentine's Day): A Sweet Fake Relationship Romcom (It's Complicated Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,576 ratings

Valentine’s lesson: fake fiancés aren’t supposed to steal your heart.

Here’s the deal. I'm pretending to be engaged to James Brody, the sizzling hot London deputy mayor, to help him dodge playboy rumors. In return, I get to evade my mum's relentless matchmaking. Really, it’s the perfect cover, because while I’m wearing this fake engagement ring, I'm sneaking moments with my dream guy, Matt, who’s finally begun to notice me.

I should be thrilled. But the more I fake it with James, the more I love our phony dates and red carpet outings—and the less I like what I see in Matt.

And then there was that Valentine's kiss—fireworks, orchestra, the whole swoon-worthy deal.

I know it's just an act, and my head should be in charge. But what do I do when the fake starts feeling real, telling me my heart belongs to James?

Never Fall for Your Fake Fiancé is a laugh-out-loud, swoon-worthy rom com with a fake relationship, a totally swoony guy, and romance. As with all the books in the It’s Complicated series, this is a closed-door romance with some incredible kissing and all the feels. It is a full-length novel and can be read as a standalone story.

I must admit, had a hard time liking Lottie with her stupid, obviously stupid crush on Matt. Choosing to turn herself inside out for a guy who barely paid any attention to her was just sad. Then we got to know James, and finally, Lottie realized what a dope Matt is, and the HEA was sweet.

This book is one of those books you cant put down. It has tons of swoony, hilarious, entertaining, adorable moments and banters. The Pinkerton House is quite an intriguing place. It's full of fascinating artifacts that I never thought would be part of a romcom storyline but they made the story more fun and intriguing to read.

Lottie's and James "fake" love story is one fun sweet and swoony story. James is such a dreamy, sweet and caring guy. Lottie is a quirky, sweet, and a bit gullible girl. They are two opposite strangers that created an amazing love story by just being themselves while faking it. Sometimes starting a relationship without all the pressure will help develop real feelings for the other person because you are more yourself.

Their mothers were such clever and quirky characters that made this story so much more fun.  The ending is so heart melting and so swoony. I enjoyed this read from beginning til the end.

    Great story and perfect ending.
Sometimes best friends need to be more open about their thoughts and feelings.
It did bother me the guy so attending to her didn't notice all the crying with her Mom.
And no conversations about why and discussing of breast cancer and warning signs or mammogram information.
Though as a love story maybe too heavy of a topic to give much space to.

I thought this book was totally adorable but Lottie got on my nerves not standing up to the people in her life. I understand that’s how the plot has to progress but she was basically a broom being pushed around sometimes. It was aggravating but when she did stand up for herself; tens across the board! Plus James sounds like the perfect mate. Lottie got exactly what she deserved.

First of all, let me say that Matt is a total tool! Now that we've gotten that out of the way, I really enjoyed this book. Kate O'Keefe is one of my favorite authors for rom com books and the It's Complicated series has been so much fun and just all around enjoyable so far. I do believe this one is my favorite so far because I do love the fake relationship trope so much. And I absolutely loved James. I was internally just yelling at Lottie to give up on Matt and focus on James! Matt is a tool! Also, there's been a dog featured in each story which I adore. These can all be read as standalones but they're all so good that I'd recommend the whole series.

This was such a sweet, romantic read! I really adored Lottie as a heroine. She was so adorable, quirky and just seemed so real to me. James, his honorable hotness, was one of my favorite heroes and book boyfriend. He was so charming, handsome but most of all so good to sweet Lottie. This is my favorite out of this series so far. Highly recommend!

Time for James and Lottie's story! If you've enjoyed the previous books in this series and like a fake dating trope, then you might want to check this one out. Personally, I didn't like it as much as other books by the same author but plenty other readers loved it, so give it a go if it sounds like something you'd enjoy.

This was a very sweet story. Lottie is in love with her work colleague but he doesn't seem to notice her. Then she meets James and he asks about a fake engagement to help his public profile but which may also make her colleague jealous- so the plan is in motion!

I loved the humour in this book, there are some really great lines, conversations and situations. The conversations that Lottie and James had really showed how much they enjoyed each others company as they got to know each other better.
I was a little frustrated at Lottie by how much of a walk over she was, by more than one person, but she was very likeable.
I enjoyed the ending, it was very fitting to the characters and the story.
One thing that still puzzles me though...why was James in the museum in the first place?
