New Addiction: MM Dragon Shifter Paranormal Romance (Wingspan Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 560 ratings

A dragon shifter who doesn’t rely on anyone. A bear shifter too grumpy for his fated mate. Attraction isn’t the problem. It’s deciding whether to let love in.

Caerwyn needs to be at home in Wingspan. After his parents die in a tragic accident, picking up the pieces for his brother and sister hasn’t been easy. The last thing he needs is for the alpha to loan his tracking skills out to the Saint Lakes clan. And he certainly doesn’t need a fated mate.

Rory will do almost anything for solitude. He doesn’t like people or conversation. All he really wants is to cook at the local diner and stay home. What he doesn’t want is a mate who will demand his time and attention.

When Rory sees how much Caerwyn needs someone to rely on, he has to decide what’s more important. His solitude or his fated mate.

New Addiction is the first book on the MM paranormal romance in the Wingspan series. If you like growly bear shifters and dragon shifters too stubborn to ask for help, then you’ll love this romantic novel.

First ever book I've read by this author but I enjoyed it immensely. I loved how complicated the characters seemed and how they sorted their issues out. The story is captivating and easy-to-read and I can't wait to read the next one!

This is the first book by this author that I have read. I enjoyed Rory and Caerwyn, but Rory’s hot and cold attitude towards his mate had to both anger and confuse him. Rory may say it’s blunt honesty but he is close to just having zero tact and being heartless. He needs to work on that and finally accepting his mate should help temper that a little. Caerwyn isn’t perfect either, having had to learn the hard way with at he couldn’t really depend on his parents to do the right thing. They loved him and his siblings but they weren’t very good at managing their farm. These two will be good for each other. The author does give you a look at how hopeless and hard to combat true suicidal depression is with Sawyer. Whatever trouble is going on with the vampires isn’t really discussed that much though. This is a good story and I will probably go look up the author’s backlist.

I started reading this on accident, thinking it was written by a different author.
The characters are ok. They kept me here for the end, but the author clearly didn't have a proof reader/editor.
There was only one instance of the word 'to' that wasn't spelled 'too'... unfortunately, it was one that should have been (shakes head).
Add that to what I imagine was an attempt to follow a rule of 'every scene should have a conflict and resolution '.. it was a bit exhausting.
All in all, I am curious about Sawyer, so I am going to read the next book. I just really hope it's a little better.

Recently discovered this author, and even though the stories are shorter than I would normally care to read, fell in love with the characters of the story. Author has a style of writing that pulls you into the story and makes you feel like you are there with the characters. Only negative for me is that they are very short, would love to see the author expand a bit more on the characters and their lives, but I'm defininately hooked and am reading the second story in this series now.

Rory worked at a diner and had a good life he thought until he glanced at Caerwyn in a car. Caerwyn was sent to help track out the vampires causing problems and his mate rejected him. He was also trying to help his brother who just wanted to die since he was the only one alive in the accident that killed their parents. Rory’s bear wanted Caerwyn for his mate but he didn’t but finally he felt the same, Caerwyn had to go home to help out but never discussed how they were going to work. Sawyer went missing so he went back and his sister called Rory and told him what was going on and the money owed. Rory came to help and asked for some other bears for help and that was a surprise. Good book!

This is my first APRIL KELLEY Book. I really do love Dragon Shifters. Caerwyn is a Dragon buried under family obligation. Rory is a Bear Shifter who had no clue. These two are stubborn to the extreme. THIS is going to be a great series. I really enjoyed this Book. I'm looking forward to more. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!

Love the story of a grumpy bear shifter and shifter dragon.
A few editing points. Here and there an empty line space or two between scenes would be beneficial as I was particularly lost when the scene shifted from the home to a workplace and I naturally thought it was the kitchen in the home. I had to read it three times over to understand what happened in moving to the workplace kitchen.
I don’t know if it’s just American English idioms where whole words are left out and occasionally a sentence is missing, or is it just the way the younger generation now speaks after the early mobile phone cost of texting where abbreviated words replace real words and then developed into abbreviated sentences in language, even though the cost of phone texts is no longer an issue.

For me the writing style was slightly disjointed however the story kept me interested and I guess part of the reason it was written that way was to illustrate the way the main characters were affected by their emotions and how they dealt with the surprise of meeting their mate during stressful times for the clans. Can the isolationist deal with having a mate? Can the control freak cope with relying on someone else?
I would have liked to see more about the vampire issue but as this is only book 1 in a planned series I guess they'll turn up to cause trouble for our favourite characters later.
