Maggie Christensen writes about mature heroines coming to terms with changes in their lives - women who have learned to live and love in later life and the heroes worthy of them, heartwarming stories of second chances. Readers often describe her books as feel-good reads with people you'd want as friends.

After a career in education, Maggie Christensen began writing contemporary women's fiction portraying mature women facing life-changing situations. Her travels inspire her writing, be it her frequent visits to family in Oregon, USA, her home on Queensland's beautiful Sunshine Coast.

From her native Glasgow, Scotland, Maggie was lured by the call 'Come and teach in the sun' to Australia, where she worked as a primary school teacher, university lecturer and in educational management. Now living with her husband of thirty years on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, she loves walking on the deserted beach in the early mornings and having coffee by the river on weekends. Her days are spent surrounded by books, either reading or writing them - her idea of heaven!

Another beautiful story from the "Queen of Second Chances," tackles some meaty issues revolving around domestic violence. It's unfortunately much too prevalent in today's society, but Maggie C. sheds light on it brilliantly.

It's pretty ironic that Gill, the number one divorce lawyer in town, is struggling with her own acrimonious divorce and lack of communication from her own daughter while our other main character, Mayor Joe, a widow, is drawn to her as she helps his sister flee from an abusive husband.

Pelican Crossing is a delightful seaside town and the series is filled with fabulous friends. I have to admit, I have a little crush on Mayor Joe. He's such a kind, caring and loving person. That Gill is one lucky lady! I highly recommend this book and this entire series. Second chances all around!

Maggie has crushed it again in her latest mature romance. Joe and Gill are wonderful characters. Past relationships, busy careers, family and friends all weave together to make this a book you won’t be able to put it down.

Another wonderful trip to Pelican Crossing, Maggie Christensen brings out so much in her characters, they are easy to get to know and this one is no exception, we have met Gill Dickson before, divorce lawyer and very good at her job it is a shame that her ex is causing so many problems with their divorce, then there is Mayor Joe Harris, widowed, Joe works hard for the town he spends lots of time with his Labrador Coco both are well liked.

Gill has sworn off men and is not shy in saying so, she is estranged from her daughter and throws herself into her work, when she literally runs into the mayor one day will this change the way she thinks about men, when Joe asks her to take on his sister Erica as a client after she has left her abusive husband in Perth this will bring them together but can Gill change her way of thinking?

Joe feels a pull towards Gill instantly but she has big walls built around herself and they are going to be very hard to break down but he is determined to do so as they start to open up with each other the more they see each other, will they find love?

I did thoroughly enjoyed this one, I do love seeing older couples find the love and happiness they deserve and Maggie Christensen does it so well, I highly recommend this one and the series, they are sure to keep you turning the pages, wonderful characters and a beautiful setting. This one delves into the issue of domestic violence and it is done so well.
