The Nice Guy: A Sweet Small-Town Romantic Comedy (It's Amor Rom-Com Book 1) Kindle Edition

3.8 out of 5 stars 582 ratings

Here’s my advice: Never fall for your boss when he is a walking red flag.

After finding out that my boyfriend cheated on me, I packed my bags and moved to Sunshine Falls.

My uncle's ready to retire, and he has always dreamed of me taking over his partnership at the animal clinic in town.

My surprise comes when he introduces me to my new partner, and it’s the cute guy I was talking to at the coffee shop.

It’s okay, though. I’m not looking for a relationship. My priorities are my career and starting over.

Ivan and I clash at every turn, and our transition is anything but smooth. Throw in the exotic animals that keep showing up, and I think we’re doomed.

The one thing we can agree on is to make my uncle proud.

When Ivan starts to open up to me, it's difficult to ignore my feelings. Throw in turtle-shelled glasses, and I’m putty.

I’m tempted to break my rule, but I know the consequences that come with dating a co-worker, and I won’t go through that again.

The Nice Guy is a diverse closed-door romantic comedy full of swoony moments, laughs, and a meddling Cuban family. It's Amor Series follows Cuban-American cousins as they find unexpected love. You'll get sizzling chemistry without the spice.

Abi Sabina writes sweet closed door romance full of swoon, sass, and humor. She traded in the big city life for small town living when she moved to Spain.

She hasn't wrangled herself a country boy yet, but she writes books based on charming heroes and small town charm. (And maybe throw in the city setting every so often.)

She loves coffee, country music, and the mountains. Her goal is to write stories that make you feel, smile, and cheer on love.

Nice guys don’t always finish last…
Abi Sabina has done it again 👏🏼 This is the first book in her new series and I’m already wanting more! I absolutely loved Ivan and Madison! It was so fun watching their relationship unfold. Watching them both learn to open up and trust each other was my favorite. Ivan struggled some with self esteem, and Madison was fresh out of a bad relationship. They were afraid to share, but learned how to with each other. Ivan was the sweetest! He was so protective of his City Girl, but also let her handle her self. His family was hilarious and his mom and all her meddling was one of my favorite things! I loved the crazy situations at the vet clinic (like Ivan finally getting a llama…even if it was only for a day) This book was full of small town sweetness (and gossip!) and I can’t wait to go back for Sara’s story! *I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book - thanks so much @abi_sabina and @justreadtours!

I have found my way down a rabbit hole of sweet sappy rom-coms and I’m not even mad about it!
I loved everything about this book, small town Texas (which I miss so much), the love for animals and the MMC is Cuban😍 I loved the mentions of all the foods, my hubby is Salvadoran so I recognized everything and they are delicious!
I also picked up more Spanish and my hubby was shocked so thank you Abi, I’m learning more from reading then I did in school😂
I fell for all the sappy lines and was getting all giddy, those first love butterfly feels, you know? It’s a perfect love story and was like getting all cozy watching a hallmark movie. I honestly loved it the most because my passion is animals, it’s what I went to school for and both main characters are vets.
I was laughing the whole time too, she made it funny and it was a great rom-com!
Can’t wait to dive into book 2!

This was a cute story but very poorly written.

It felt cheesy and jumbled and I truly didn’t care to finish it. The random thrown in stuff didn’t add anything to the story and there were things focused on that felt pointless and honestly kind of annoying. It felt very obvious that this was her first, or one of her first few books.

It was cute but poorly written

A cute and wholesome read with snappy characters and a few hilarious encounters. I enjoyed the rivalry aspect as these two vets try and learn how to work together despite their different approaches. Great family dynamic with a hint of matchmaking that adds to the drama and keeps the characters on their toes. The characters are entertaining and their drama relatable.

MmmMm! Such a good book! If you like office romance, this is the book for you! Clean, close door, and language free 💯 I love me some City Girl and Exotic Animal Whisperer romance! Madison and Ivan are an adorable match, steeling kisses all while keeping work life professional by helping their clients and animals stay happy and healthy. And to say Boots is my favorite kitty is an understatement 😅 now I can’t wait for more books in this series by Author Abi Sabina! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love Madison and Ivan! Their chemistry was so fun and sweet. The antics with all the pets made me laugh and I loved how family-oriented both characters were.

Love this book!! Such a cute slow burn book. Love how they went from hating each other to falling in love.

I was hoping for a change in my romance reading but this one lacked a lot. I felt like there was no build up to a lot of their romance it was just oh hey we are dating. Oh hey we had our first kiss cool. Overall the story line wasn’t bad but had a lot of repeating details that weren’t important I felt.

Let me tell you that this is not a bad book, at all! I loved the writting and I really liked the first half of this book: in the first pages we see that we have a bit of enemy to lovers, which is a trope I eat up 😁 After that, we see them, slowly, overcoming their problems, because they understood that thay had a common goal - and I loved it! 🥰

And as Maddison and Ivan both had some baggage, I thought this would be very good to deepen the story. What I think is that these issues, which are part of them and influenced the people they are today, were talked about very superficially and I would have preferred if there had been a little more depth when Maddison and Ivan talked about them. I hope this could've been used to develop the characters.

I have to admit that Evan's family, despite being very close, made me think that, if it were me, I don't know if I could handle it 😂 Maddison and Ivan barely knew each other and his mother already wanted them to get married and have children 😅

I thought there were a lot of scenes that were repeated and that I would have preferred if we had had some more content about their dates.

I really liked the idea of the problem they faced, almost at the end, I think it was very well thought, but I wanted it to last a bit more ahahaha I think it was to easy to fix🤭

Overall, it was an easygoing read and I want to read more from this author ✨

I loved The Nice Guy! It was very sweet but relatable and fun. I love that things weren’t rushed and there was a splash of the unknown to keep me needing to know how their story unfolds!
