One chance encounter has the power to either make her dreams come true or destroy her future.

I’m a fish out of water, straight out of my element, living in the big city until it’s time to go home. Picking up the pieces of my family’s shattered life. It’s an all-consuming, solo pursuit, leaving no time for anything else… or anyone.

But I make an exception for the Marine who lives next door. The one who hears me crying and knocks on the wall separating us, making sure to let me know I’m not alone.

He’s too much for me. Too smart. Too hot. Too damn intrusive.

I know it’s only temporary, but I can’t stay away.

When the past comes crashing into the present and threatens the future, Cole gives me a reason to fight… but that fight is gonna cost me everything.

Including him.

This is Casper & Cole’s story.

You know the stories Rue loves to write. The ones filled with heroes who make you swoon, anti-heroes who smile viciously as the world burns down around them, just as long as the woman they love stands at their side… Then there are the happily ever afters that bring you to your knees whether you want to be there or not.

The story of Casper & Cole is a military suspense romance filled with emotions. It’s the 2nd in the series but has no connection to the first one, so it’s 100% standalone.

I guess it’s an ok book overall but just didn’t click for me.
I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll just say that everything felt way too rushed, from the moment they met, to the feelings developed, to the final act. The shadow of the past events was too prominent and I couldn’t feel any chemistry between the MCs.

I was also annoyed with the use of protection. Apparently if you use it once, it’s no longer needed? 😕

2.75/5 ⭐️ for me.

I’m definitely sensing a theme with these books; there seems to be a couple of common things so far.

I would say you could read book 1 without reading this and vice versa but you really can’t.

We get introduced to more characters in this book, new characters but they are pivotal to the characters we saw developing in book 1. They give you a bit more of an idea of how everyone interacts and interlinks in this small town.

Whilst this is described as a military romance, what I didn’t realise is that you have a strong FMC in every book and that is one of my favourite things to see!

The strangers to lovers dynamic between Casper & Cole is unbelievable. From their first meeting until the last scene you see how far they have come and how they have grown as people.

Cannot wait to get started on book 3, the more I’m reading about these characters the more I want to know about the next person story, I’m looking forward to Remy’s journey the most I think!

Thanks so much Rue!

Let it be known that I am an emotional reader. So the fact that this book made me ugly cry is not a surprise. There is something about the way Rue writes her stories, and brings these characters to life that just hits right. Their stories are emotional, suspenseful, and of course steamy. Situations happen in these stories that bring out my empathetic self. I am definitely one of those people that cries over fictional characters.

No Dirty Secrets had my full attention from the very first chapter. The meet cute between Casper and Cole was good, but between you and I, the bond that Casper and Soli formed first was even better. Their meet cute was a memorable one. I loved the fact that Casper and Cole were neighbors--or rather Cassie and Cole were neighbors, and they were able to have that proximity to each other to build this relationship. That proximity also helped Casper grieve, and start the healing process.

Loved the friendships, the familial relationships, and of course the romance between C & C. Emmett and Soli's son stole the show from time to time as well. Especially that line about being brave.

As usual I also loved getting to catch up with some of my favorite characters, and see each of them before their happily ever afters occurred.

If you're looking for an emotional read, that also has suspense and steam, then this is one to pick up.

This is book two of this series, told in dual first person POV and leaves you with a HEA. This story can be enjoyed as a standalone as well.

This story gripped my heart from the first chapter. Needing to know why Casper was nervous, loving the sass of the female stranger who comforted her without question and then became completely captivated and needing more from her revelation and the mystery of the second stranger who felt the pull to comfort her.

The mystery man who turned out to be the female stranger’s (Stoni) cousin by marriage left me needing even more and needing to know if my hunch was correct by his first chapter.

These two souls were the type that had experienced hurt and pain and had them thinking they were beyond repair. Finding peace and comfort in each other and then having their semi-fast love tested and still able to overcome unthinkables, to get the HEA they both deserved….have the tissues ready because you will need them!

I loved Cole and Casper. They were the perfect duo. I loved their chemistry, banter and everything in between. I loved Stoni and her goofy personality.

I loved a lot of the side characters as well and I can’t wait to read more of this series! I was provided an advanced readers copy via Booksprout. These thoughts and opinions are my own.

The book deals with sad events throughout, as in right from the get go, but the author isn’t afraid to continue to pile on this suspense, romance and more angst and trauma to fill a cargo ship. But my goodness how well she does it.

A twisty yet fulfilling story, I loved how Casper and Cole came together (their meet through Sori was awesome) and how their relationship was build on being there for each other initially.

Fab characters all round, I always read a Rue Lennox books craving ALL the stories for ALL the characters so I now have the NY boys on my want-to-read list as well as the Birch Harbour ones.

And if there isn’t a Sori and Emmett novella out there already……I NEED one!

Amazing read and I love this series more with each book.

My heart is still in my throat as I write this review... I loved every minute of this story and the emotions it made me feel while reading.
This is a military romance with neighbors to lovers.

Cole and Casper are so perfect for each other, and they have this pull to one another that can't be explained. They both need each other for different reasons, and each soothes the other in a way no one else can.

Cole is in the military, and due to an accident, he is not able to go with his unit. He is strong and has a swagger that will make you swoon.
Casper is grieving and is heartbroken. She is trying to get things in order to make the next move. I love the drive she has to do what needs to be done.

I adored these characters in every way you can. The feelings this story made me feel will stick with me. I feel like there are not enough words to express how this book will make you feel.

This is the second book in the Birch Harbour Coming Home series and was an enjoyable read. This book features Casper and Cole, there is an instant connection between the two even though there is a timeline on their relationship. It takes you on emotional journey on their quest for happy ever after. There is a great cast of side characters whose love and support for the two is perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed this read by Rue, my second read by her and this one didn’t disappoint.

Cole & Casper are super adorable & steamy together. She has a way of pulling you in till the very last page. Brilliant! There were a lot of characters to remember who was related to who and who the other non related characters were for a 2nd in series book. Maybe if I had read book 1 first, it wouldn't have been an issue. Who's Lil?
One thing that gave me whiplash was the sudden jump between locations without actually following the characters to the destination. Like a conversation Casper has with Sori and Emmett at their place and then suddenly Casper is back in her own living room. Or when she's travelled with Cole to Mimi's place and next she's home alone when she travelled to Mimi's with Cole.

Having said all this, I was really invested in Casper and Coles relationship after finding out that Cole lived next door to Casper's dead twin sister. I cried right along with Casper from the first page over the unfairness of everything and laughed with the lightness that Laurence brought her. It seemed they were only going to have a fling with the temporary situation they were both in in New York with Casper packing up her sisters things and Cole on forced medical leave from the military. I enjoyed the added background of knowing that Casper comes from such a strong family of first responders and how it has empowered her with habits to keep herself safe.

I was left with a lot of questionable closures to some incidences that seemed to be glossed over in the book.

I don't want to ruin the story for anyone so I just have a couple of things to say about this book. First, I expected a lot from No Dirty Secrets because book one, No Perfect Love, was an awesome and very emotional read, from start to finish. After a promising start, book two seemed kind of slow. I liked the characters but it didn't seem like a lot was happening. Then the second half of the book happened. Everything I had been missing was there. Lots of drama, some suspense, and enough emotion to have me reaching for the tissue box. Casper and Cole get their well deserved HEA (that's not a spoiler, it's in the book blurb) and I am ready to jump into book three. I have my tissues handy. 4.5 stars

I very much enjoyed this book and the characters were wonderful.

After Casper experiences a personal tragedy, she meets Cole, the ex marine next door neighbor who helps her.

Action, drama and emotional with a sweet romance and a touch of suspense makes this a really gripping book. Casper and Cole both had issues they were getting through separately but also together and even though it starts as casual, it heats up quickly. Their connection was strong and it was great to see the journey they both take.

Well written with an amazing plot, it was a very involving book. Great work to Rue!!

I understand this has been renamed and changed, significantly to the first version. And it shows. It's choppy, a little messy and actions don't match emotions.
One minute Casper was somewhere walking to someone and the next she was in another room or place seemingly in the middle of a scene.
I didn't feel the attraction, chemistry, or emotional connection between Cole and Casper.
I this was a pleasant read, but I felt like it missed the mark a bit.

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. Whilst this one also dealt with heavy issues like losing a sibling and child, and being in an abusive relationship (not described), I found it less intense than the first book but still emotional, heartbreaking and heartwarming. Both Cole and Casper were likeable characters and were so good for each other. But each is dealing with something and it may break them before things even start. The ending was emotional and sweet and worth the painful journey the 2 of them went through. On to the next book in the series!

I have read the previous version, and it just keeps getting better!

As always, Rue doesn't fail to make you cry and get absolutely lost in the story. She loves to draw you in and then break you! I can't lie I am totally here for it as it is always worth it.

Caspar and Cole both have their own battles to deal with but together they are something else. Their meet-cute and subsequent meetings just keep interlinking so clearly fate has plans for them.

This book started a little slow for me and lacked a strong character build in the early chapters. The storyline was, at times, a little predictable. However, once I got into it, I enjoyed it, and the last half I read very quickly.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Birch Harbor: Coming Home series. I have read the first book in this series before picking up this book. I loved both Casper and Cole. There were so many cute and fun moments in this book. There was a big twist in this book I really did not see coming, and WOW... It was done so well. I loved all this book. The ending had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I really loved reading this book and the characters. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

I loved Cole and Casper's story. This dual POV book in first person with HEA is the second book in a stand alone series. Rue Lennox does a great job drawing you in emotionally and feeding Cole and Casper's story bit by bit to leave you needing to learn more and keep your attention.

Casper's heartbreaking loss of her twin and Cole's healing journey makes for a great combination in this romantic suspense with lots of twists and turns. They create rememberable characters in a universe that I can't wait to learn more about.

No Dirty Secrets by Rue Lennox, is part of the Birch Harbor: Coming Home Series, Cole is a marine who had an accident, but of which he has no memory, this leads him to be placed on medical leave, unable to join to his infantry team abroad. One day, chasing and tormenting his cousin's wife a little, he arrives at court with the intention of finding out for his cousin if his wife was given another fine. It's there where he meets a woman who leaves him breathless. Casper lost her twin sister, and this has devastated her, and she is in New York to pick up her things and thus sell her apartment, which leads her to meet who her sister's neighbors were, specifically Sari, and although at first she is somewhat apprehensive, she ends up accepting their friendship to get through those hard times. The friendship with Sari brings her closer to the next-door neighbor who turns out to be Cole, they become friends and their relationship quickly evolves into something more, for Cole Casper is the woman of his life, but Casper, even though she is very attracted to him, does not want to get her hopes up because their life is not there, but in a twist of fate their lives are more linked than either of them could have imagined.
This story is heartbreakingly beautiful, full of all the feelings and with the perfect touch of suspense and unexpected twists that make this a unique story, once again this author takes us on a roller coaster of emotions with a captivating story from beginning to end. Highly recommended!

I was keen to read this book after discovering Rue Lennox in the previous book in this series. I had high hopes of this one and I certainly did not disappoint.

Here we learn more about Casper and we meet Cole. The book starts with the aftermath of Casper mourning a family member and the emotions just jump off the page.

This is a book with a good cast of characters, and the phrase, it takes a village was running through my mind throughout. There was love, support and feelings from all characters and the emotions this gave me felt very genuine.
Cole is military and Casper is just so sad but together they support each other. But what will happen when they realise that more connects them than they first realise?
This is a book full of difficult emotions, suspense and steam and all of this was were handled with great sensitivity.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Casper and Cole's love story was a great read. He's a marine who was in an accident and can't be with his team and she's a teacher who's grieving her twin sister. Their neighbors and he hears her crying thru their shared wall. They meet as friends first and then things turn romantically.

No Dirty Secrets is the second book of Rue Lennox's series Birch Harbor: Coming Home. This can be read as a standalone book, I've not read the first book yet (it's now on my list of things to read) but I was intrigued when I read the blurb. Lennox is also a new to me author, so I had no idea what I was in for.

This book tells the story of Casper and Cole. Cole is a marine who was in an accident, unfortunately he has zero memory of the incident and it also meant that he was put on medical leave, unable to join his team overseas. So he's home, near his obscenely wealthy family (his cousin was the subject of the first book) and is beginning to take an interest in taking his place in the family businesses. A series of coincidences brings him into contact with Casper.

Casper lost her identical twin sister, there is mention of some mystery surrounding her sister. And quite honestly, I kind of guessed one of main pivot points in the plot involving Casper's sister and how she passed away. Regardless, Casper is in New York to pack up her sister's life, far away from their. Her crying and being heard by her sister's neighbour brings Cole into her life, first as a friend.

Like many books, it's great to see how two seemingly unrelated people have so much in common in terms of their surrounds more so than their personalities - which all leads to chances and romance and love.

I gotta say, 5 stars just doesn't do this book justice...it deserves so many more, and Rue is an EVIL GENIUS!!!! What she did with this story was magical, and she makes you feel all the feelings!! Casper goes to New York to settle things for her sister who she lost in a tragic accident, what makes it even worse, it's like she's lost a part of herself because Cassie was her twin. She's rushing to get to her when she gets to the hospital and doesn't realize she's parked in the wrong place. Next thing ya know she's in court because she's gotten a ticket. She meets Sori who is also there because of a ticket, and there is an immediate bond between them, she also meets Cole who is there for Emmett to spy on Sori...Cole is in the military and he's home because he was coincidentally in an accident which he has no memory of. Is it coincidence, or divine intervention that Cole happens to be Cassie's next door neighbor? So Cole and Casper start spending some time together, and the attraction grows. The one thing, ok there is really more than one thing keeping them apart like the fact Casper lives in a different state, and Cole is in the military so he'll be shipping out again once he gets cleared by the doctor. In the meantime....they could play a little maybe, or a lot??? Lol There's also a HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER!!! twist that you won't see comin' or at least I didn't!! I can't recommend this book enough, y'all need to read this book!!!

No Dirty Secrets is the second book in the Birch Harbor: Coming Home series. This is an emotional story that will hit you straight into your feels, wreck you in the best possible way and then piece you back together. Perfectly woven story that leaves wanting more and to never leave this world.

Cole is in the military but due to an accident he is unable to join his team for a mission. He is very protective and caring. Casper is heartbroken and grieving, yet strong and determined to get her life on track.
Cole and Casper are so perfect for each other. From the start there was a simple understanding and unexplainable pull between them. Both have been through so much. The pace of the story, the friendships, the family relations added to Cole and Casper's romance and love story. Their transformation and growth throughout the book is heartwarming. I think they learned that some people don't need fixing, only love, support and being there for them which forced proximity, slow-burn and build-up in Cole and Casper's situation allowed to develop naturally.

Simply amazing, sexy, healing and captivating.

Cole and Casper's story will have you riding an emotional rollercoaster but it is well worth the ride. Ms. Lennox's writing will have you holding your breath, sitting on the edge of your seat and feeling all the feels. No Dirty Secrets is a suspenseful, slow-burn and riveting romance of two people who meet by chance and sparks ignite.
Cole and Casper's story is like no other. Cole is a military man who is on medical leave and suffering from panic attacks due to what happened overseas. Casper is having to deal with the death of her twin sister and is responsible for cleaning out her home. Meeting by chance but the circumstances will break your heart and the next thing they know they are neighbours. Both of them are trying to survive the tragedy that life threw at them. The connection that they felt from the start was emotional and what developed was a friendship that grew into something more. It is not until a piece of information is brought to the surface that hearts get broken. Will the truth come out? Can what has been broken be fixed? When both of them face danger, the love that they have been hiding comes to the surface but there is also heartbreak they have to deal with.
I recommend adding No Dirty Secrets to your TBR list.

This book is face paced and emotional from the get go. It starts out in an NYC courtroom where Casper is contesting a ticket she got while double parked in an ambulance loading zone the day her sister, Cassie, was killed in a car accident. There she meets cousins Sori and Cole Morgan. Cole is recovering from an accident as well and has some amnesia from it so he's out of the military for a few weeks recovering. Casper then finds out while she's at Cassie's house cleaning it out that Cole is also Cassie's neighbor. Cole pretty much falls for her instantly. Casper is much more reserved but still likes him, and she decides to have a fling with him for the month she's clearing up Cassie's affairs in NYC before heading back to Birch Harbor, Maine.

Things comes to light around the 70% mark that neither anticipate or, in Cole's case, remember. I liked the relationship progression. I would have liked a bit more of the backstory with the Morgan family. They get their HEA in the end.

I would love at least a novella on Emmett and Sori. Their relationship seemed like a good one to read about.

What a twist of fate!

Casper is still grieving for her twin sister while packing up her sister's home and personal belongings. A chance encounter introduces her to Cole, who is on leave while he heals from a car accident. Their romance moves smoothly, for the most part, as they provide emotional support to each other.

Then the twist hits like a tornado - I kinda saw it coming, but wasn't absolutely sure - but as the story progresses, it becomes clear that the tornado is being followed by a hurricane of epic proportions! And then there's one more surprise that heightens all the danger for Casper, leading to a showdown that finally blows the dust off all the secrets and lies. It's quite a ride, exquisitely written, and I was absolutely enthralled with the entire story.

There were a couple issues where the timeline didn't make sense, but they were minor. The characters are memorable, the intimacy is intense, and the journey to their triumphant HEA was well worth every incredibly difficult step along the way.

It's a wonderful book all in all, and I'm happy to recommend it for anyone who loves contemporary romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
