No One I Knew Kindle Edition
Her daughter's missing. A tragic accident... or something much worse?
When Cleo Cooper’s daughter vanishes during a family barbecue, her perfect life begins to unravel.
Everyone thinks three-year-old Immy drowned in the river at the bottom of the garden.
Everyone except Cleo. Because all her instincts tell her someone took her daughter. Someone she knew.
With time running out, Cleo sets out to uncover the truth. But the deeper she probes, the more she realises everyone has a secret to hide. Especially her husband.
And as Cleo unpicks the lies, she discovers her carefully constructed life was just an illusion.
No One I Knew is the compulsive psychological thriller by A J McDine, author of The Baby and The Invite.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2021This novel is a riveting read that deals with every parent's worst nightmare - a child gone missing. I was enthralled immediately and it kept me guessing until the end. This book could easily be a movie or TV series. I would love to see it on PBS's Masterpiece Theatre, which features so many wonderful British mysteries.
The writing is first-class - direct and to-the-point, while creating vivid scenes. The characters are fully-dimensional with realistic virtues and vices.
Although an edge-of-the seat thriller, the overriding theme of this book, as with Miss McDine's two earlier books, is the immense power of a mother's love for her child.
I can't wait for Miss McDine's next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2021Not the genre I normally read but this story was intriguing, fast-paced, and well written. There were several times when I felt the heroine was a bit thick, as the "villains" were fairly easy to figure out. Yet, despite those flaws, I was caught up in the story and would recommend it as a good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2023I had a lot of trouble putting this one down!! It grips you pretty good from the start and keeps you guessing til the end. I've read several books by this author and this has been my favorite so far! Won't disappoint you definitely get it!!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2021This book gets you right in, you don't want to stop reading it. She did a great job pulling you in with the characters and their emotions during such a horrific ordeal. If you have ever lost your child just for a little bit, that panic that sets in and to have to deal with it, and the worst things that come out of people and friends during that time. This is a must read!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2021A good story, though I couldn't stand the narrator Cleo. She was just very stiff and lacked imagination. She ignored obvious red flags and clues.
Still it was a good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2023Read the book in 2 sittings. Kept me in suspense the entire time. Love this Author. Will read more of her books.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2021Very basic. Little to like about the characters as there was little character development. Maybe good book for 7th to 9th graders. Doubt it took long to write it.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2021The author prepared the book well in that just when you had it all figured out - it changed! Everything begins and ends with a garden gate that is left or pried open… I found the story captivating and even very believable with situations that could and do happen I real life.
Find out what a workaholic mom, stay at home dad and best friends lives endure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fantastic story.
I love A. J. McDine's stories & have read them all. This is another winner & I was gripped from the get go. Was desperate to find out what happened to Immy & it was a shock to find out. Love her style of writing & how she brings her characters to life. I loved also that it was based in Kent where I live & could relate. Highly recommend this 5*gripping thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book
Can’t find any faults with this book. It kept me reading from start to finish. I usually don’t bother giving reviews but this is one I had to do. Every part of it is believable and the ending was great. I will be buying more from this author.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not logical
- Too stretched in the end
- written from eyes of a character, and illogically made to believe readers to suspect x person as culprite, only to corrected later. Twists should have been genuin but instead appear illogical
