Norway – what does it really mean to live under Jante Law? In this concluding volume, Anthony King gets to the heart of the lauded ‘Nordic lifestyle’ by persuading 350 Norwegians to tell him about their lives. Almost without exception, they described how great it was to live in Norway. He listened politely... and then he asked them to tell him the truth. In fifteen months Anthony King amassed over 500,000 words of transcripts and hundreds of hours of recordings with the Prime Minister, doctors, teachers, students, scientists, hotel workers and people from all walks of life, of all ages. From Oslo, Tromso, Svalbard and a total of fifteen cities across Norway and from over fifty smaller locations including Sogndalstrand, Averoy, Romsdalen and more to Sweden and Denmark. Is Norway a country living in denial? Decide for yourself as you read the final conversations about what life is really like in Norway, told by Norwegians in their own words. What they said WILL shock you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Horrifying, Janteloven is a scary thing

This is the final book in the series, a series I never expected would affect me so deeply. I don't know anyone in Norway and I always planned to visit 'the happiest place on earth'. This series has truly opened my eyes to something hidden and disturbing.

This final volume continues the journey and reveals even more of the horror of what it's like to live in a country in denial. It brings everything together but ends with a hope for change. Anthony King has given its oppressed a voice but the question is whether it's enough to effect the much-needed change.

It's been evident from book one that the author is thorough about his research. The conversations are not always easy to read and the author does say that, but urges the reader to keep going because the message is there. When he gains their trust, people open up. They have opened up all across Norway and it's terrifying how much bullying, racism and abuse there is and also whole chapters missing from history.

Read it, and judge for yourself. Well worth it.
