Nothing but Ink: A Montgomery Ink: Fort Collins Novella Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 447 ratings

New York Times bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan returns to the Montgomery Ink world with Nothing but Ink.

Clay Hollins knows he needs to stay away from Riggs Kennedy. He doesn't have time to fall for the bearded bartender that haunts his dreams and waking fantasies. Not only is he working long hours at his dream job with Montgomery Builders, but he’s raising his three cousins and they need him more than he needs a private life.

After one night of giving in, however, neither Riggs nor Clay can walk away.

Only their lives are chaotic with baggage from Riggs’ past and Clay’s present and taking a chance on each other might be the scariest yet best decision they ever make.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

LOVE LOVE LOVE this story!
We've been dancing around Clay and Riggs for a while now and FINALLY we get their story and what a story it is! I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say I gobbled this goodness up in one afternoon because I didn't want to put it down. Between Clay being a great "dad" to his three little cousins that he has guardianship over and the tenderness Riggs shows when Clay needs his help...oh man I was done for. And the same goes for when Riggs needed Clay. These two men was perfect together and I am so glad they have finally gotten their HEA. The beauty of this book is that you don't have to have read the rest of the series to read this book because Clay and Riggs aren't Montgomery's they are closely woven into the family but they were side characters that may not have gotten their HEA if not for this 1,001 Dark Nights Series which gives authors a chance to write books they may not have otherwise written to give new readers a taste of their work and readers of the series a couple they may not have otherwise have gotten. SO a BIG THANK YOU to both Carrie Ann Ryan and 1001DarkNights/BlueBoxPress for gifting us this story. If you enjoy Steamy MM Romances or Second Chances Romances I highly recommend this book to you. Happy Reading!!!

I really enjoyed this story and especially our two heroes: Clay and Riggs. I have always liked these two characters individually but what would happen if they got together. They both have busy lives – Riggs with this bar and Clay with his job and taking care of the kids (his cousins) as well and I have to say he is doing a fantastic job keeping everything running. I also enjoyed the kids with their different personalities, especially Mariah. Definitely a lot going on in this novella; unfortunately someone from Rigg’s past shows up and causes trouble but he definitely got what he deserved, Clay is doing a great job at work and handling the situation when he has a couple of things pop up with the kids and I was glad that Riggs was able to help him out there and who knows what might come out of their one night together. Great story! There was a quote from this story that I loved, “You’ve been trapped. Just know that there is no way out. Now that the Montgomery’s have officially assimilated you, you’ll either get tattooed or be brainwashed. There is no middle ground.”

They knew each other in high school and had a little fling but then life came between them but now they have reconciled. But Riggs doesn’t know if Clay will want a relationship. Then Clay need help with one of the kids a the first person he calls is Riggs. Riggs drops everything to be there and Riggs gets to know the kids that starts their relationship. But Riggs past is going to cause trouble for Riggs but the Montgomery’s won’t let that happen. So enjoy another good read in this wonderful series !!

The Montgomerys are an awesome family and have a habit of bringing outsiders into their fold. Clay is an honorary Montgomery who works for their company. They adopted him years ago. Now he's raising his three orphaned young cousins and has no time for dating. On a rare occasion he has an evening free he ends up at the bar Riggs, which is owned by his friend Riggs. When they were in school they had a relationship but then went their separate ways. The attraction is still there and Clay ends up going home with Riggs. Both work insane hours and figure there's no chance for a relationship. But then an emergency happens and Clay calls Riggs for help. Riggs doesn't let him down and slowly they realize they will do anything to make the special feelings between them work. Short story but great reading.

Nothing But Ink is Clay and Riggs tale. Clay and Riggs are much loved secondary characters from the Montgomery Ink: Fort Collins series.

Clay is acting as a single father to his three young cousins and working for Montgomery Builders. He doesn’t have time for a love life. Riggs practically lives at his bar making his dreams come true after a disastrous marriage. Can these two find time for love? Maybe with a little help from the Montgomery clan.

These two are so sweet together. I’m thrilled that Carrie Ann Ryan shared their story with us.

I loved this story of Clay and Riggs!! They knew each other back in high school, but it didn't last long. They were attracted to each other now, but both had a complicated, busy life. Riggs with his bar and Clay with his nephews and niece he was raising as his own. Fortunately, they found that together, they could do it all and have the support they needed. Love this book! It's my first Montgomery book and I want to go back and read them all!!!

I don’t generally like novellas as I feel like there isn’t enough, but this was a wonderful addition to Fort Collins. I loved the 2 of them getting together without a huge degree of drama just the complications of life involving families and second chances
  • Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2022
Riggs and Clay have a past that the Montgomery don’t know about. When Clay can make it to the bar with the Montgomery Riggs asks him to dance and always says no until he doesn’t. It becomes a turning point. Can they make a relationship work? Will the continue to make work en excuse, or for Clay also his cousins that he is raising? Will the Montgomerys as always get right into the middle of it all and meddle? Come on have a drink and find our. Oh just a warning it will start of extremely hot.

Parts of the story I really enjoyed, but the writing style was more clunky than previous books. I missed the fluid style, which seem to impact on my connection with the characters.
