Nothing But It All Kindle Edition

From USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke comes a warm and romantic novel about a marriage in trouble, two conspiring kids, and the meaning of long-lasting love.

After twenty years, the cracks in Lauren Reed’s marriage are showing. She and her husband, Jack, feel more like roommates than a loving couple. What they have in common are two wonderful teenagers, Michael and Maddie, and the same wistful question: When did it all go wrong? Now that Lauren’s decided to get on with her life—alone—divorce is inevitable.

Not to the kids. They aren’t giving up so easily.

Michael and Maddie have conspired with their grandfather to bring everyone together for a vacation in the family’s favorite summer getaway, a rustic lakeside cabin in Story Brook, Ohio. Awkward? Yep. A little deceptive? Sure. But as far as traps go, Lauren and Jack agree—the meddlers couldn’t have set one that was more scenic or filled with so many bittersweet memories.

This trip is going to be life-changing for the whole family. Fourteen days of hope, heartbreak, and unexpected possibilities—like maybe falling in love all over again.

About the Author

USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke writes contemporary romances about the two things she knows best—big families and small towns. Her stories are about ordinary people finding extraordinary love with the perfect combination of heart, heat, and humor.

She loves connecting with readers, fall weather, football, reading about alpha heroes, everything pumpkin, and pretending to garden.

Hailing from a tiny town in the Midwest, Adriana spends her free time with her high school sweetheart (who she married more than twenty years ago) and their four sons (who truly are her best work). Her kitchen may be a perpetual disaster, but if all else fails, there’s always pizza.

So it's been a few months since I've read this book and I still think about it. Marriage in trouble is one of my favorite tropes so this may be biased but I found this book to be so relatable. The relationship dynamic and marriage issues were all very realistic and well written. I think every wife/mother can relate to how Lo feels. That feeling of being in the background handling everything and being forgotten about by your partner and if you've ever been in a relationship that's falling apart you know how hard it is and how much work it takes to get back on track, Adriana takes you a long that journey of broken to happily ever after with this married couple. If you liked "written in the scars" I think you'll also love this one.

I absolutely LOVED Nothing But It All by Adriana Locke; it is the most relatable book that I have ever read. Adriana Locke continues to prove that she is an amazing storyteller and continues to be one of my favorite authors to read. It was impossible to put Nothing But It All down and I loved every moment on every page. I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. Nothing But It All is the story of Lauren and Jack Reed who have lost the spark in their marriage. Lauren is a stay-at-home mom, and Jack owns his own automotive business and is the sole bread winner. I related how as a stay-at-home mom you sometimes lose your self-worth and your identity as a woman. Adriana Locke portrayed Lauren perfectly. Adriana Locke continues to deliver the books that I love to read. Lauren and Jack are parents to teenagers, Michael and Madison and every year they take an annual two-week vacation to their family lakeside cabin in Story Book, Ohio. This year Lauren is not sure she wants to go, her marriage continues to be estranged, and her professional scrapbooking business, Story Books, that Madison helped her establish is sky rocketing. Michael noticed the name of a divorce lawyer on her desk and Michael and Madison know they need to do something to save their parents’ marriage. Jack has no idea that his marriage is in trouble. Michael, Madison, and Jack’s father, Harvey “Pops” secretly trick Lauren and Jack to head to the Firefly Cabin separately. Michael asks Jack to go fishing and wants to stop and see his grandfather. Madison tells Lauren that her grandfather forgot his insulin at his house, so they retrieve his insulin and take it to the cabin. It is then that they realize that they have been set up. Michael and Madison convince her to stay. I love the heart-to-heart conversations that Lauren and Jack have, especially when she informs him of all the things that she recently stopped doing and he never even noticed. It was heart breaking and made me feel blessed that I am not walking in Lauren’s shoes. As they spend time together at the cabin, they begin to remember why they fell in love in the first place. I love that all the stages of love are covered in Nothing But It All. Lauren and Jack are having marital problems, Harvey is spending time with Mrs. Shaw, Michael starts dating Mrs. Shaw’s granddaughter, Ava, and Madison is in a committed relationship with Daniel. I love everything that Michael, Madison, and Pops do to get Lauren and Jack to spend time together, I especially loved the boat trip. I love that Jack reaches out to Lauren’s best friend Billie for tips on how to save his marriage. Conversation between Lauren and Jack flows so easily, especially their playful banter. As they spend time together things begin to change between them. A heart-breaking plot twist occurs with Pops, which once again puts their marriage in peril. I love all the changes that Jack is willing to make with his business to save his marriage and to stay with Lauren. I loved that Nothing But It All is more than just a romance, there are issues that both Lauren and Jack facing that need to be resolved and the changes that they were both willing to make to save their marriage. I love how the storylines get so beautifully resolved. I love how the epilogue is the perfect ending to their love story. Nothing But It All is filled with poignant and bittersweet moments as well as plot twists that I have come to love and expect in an Adriana Locke love story. My favorite part is how Adriana Locke incorporated the title of the book into the love story with the very last line in the book. I love the characters and the family dynamic in Nothing But It All, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoyed all the interactions between the Reed family, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I loved everything that Michael and Madison did to save their parents’ marriage. Who does not love a family that always have each other’s backs? I thoroughly enjoyed Nothing But It All, it is so relatable because marriage is hard work and you need to make it a priority every day. Highly recommend this incredible love story.

I love basically every book from this author. I will tell you this though. I do feel like this marriage kind of was over. And I know the purpose was for them to find each other and that’s OK. But taking it for someone like me who was married divorced, and then remarried the same man five years later Sometimes this two week thing of he figures out what’s wrong and fixes it it’s not sustainable and I really do get that feeling from him. He really was a bad husband. I know that sounds terrible and a lot of people might not agree with me, but I’m not sure he really deserve to be forgiven. I had a lot of problems with him and how unimportant she felt and I just don’t think that a two week cabin vacation is enough to fix that.

As an older reader, I wish this book was written about 35 years ago. The characters and their stories are so believable and the way they work it out was great. I think that putting Snaps in the book was like adding chocolate syrup to the vanilla ice cream. Thank you for telling such as beautiful story.

A couple tries to save their twenty year marriage. It really is a foregone conclusion and not particularly engaging story. The wife seems to get most of the concessions, but does not give equitably in return.

I loved this book, would recommend it to anyone who likes Romance.

    Possible Spoiler-y review to follow.

Lauren and Jack have been married for over 20 years, with 2 children - 17 year old Michael and 14 year old Maddie.

Jack actually seems to be married to his job, and Lauren is over it. She's been struggling to keep it all together emotionally as she manages their home & household, and all of the kids' activities. Jack knows that Lauren isn't happy, but it seems he has no idea how to change things. They're so unhappy that Jack has been staying at his shop more than he stays at home. Lauren feels like she's expressed her unhappiness so much, there's no point in trying to salvage their marriage anymore. She has finally started her own "from home" business and has been pretty successful, but she's still doing everything and is at her breaking point.

The kids, along with Jack's father, basically parent trap Jack & Lauren into their annual family vacation. Fortunately, Jack has figured out just how "done" Lauren is, and he's starting to understand just how much of the responsibility for the damage to their relationship rests on his shoulders - and he's desperate to make the changes needed to get his wife back in his arms. Lauren also realizes that Jack is truly ready to listen, and rather than put up more walls, she lets them all fall and really talks to him.

Lauren isn't perfect in this story - she's very relatable to any woman who's ever found it challenging to have a hard conversation with a spouse because it might lead to an argument. But the hard conversations are vital, if both people want to fight for the right for a future where they're still together, watching from the porch while grandkids play in the yard.

Beyond the presumed Happy Ever After, this book illustrates (really well) how important it is to communicate inside a marriage. A fight doesn't have to be the end, not if you're investing in fighting for your future together.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book as it sounded a little different from my usual romance reads but I've read and enjoyed other Adriana Locke books so I was willing to give it a go. I'm so glad I did.
This is a story about a marriage in trouble, how it got there, and how Jack, Lauren, and their family and friends try to get it back on track. It really resonated with me as I found so many of Lauren's thoughts and experiences familiar to me. I enjoyed the way Jack and Lauren's kids and Jack's father conspired to bring them together for a trip to their cabin in a bid to try to get them to reconnect. There was a strong sense of family throughout and plenty of humour with all the meddling and, of course, Snaps!
This is a real feel-good story. It's quick and easy to read and will leave you with a smile on your face. If I could give it more than five stars, I would!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing But It All is VERY Different Than Ms. Locke's "Normal"....And I LOVED IT!!!

First, I have to say that Adriana Locke is one of my go-to authors! Getting into one of her books is pure pleasure, the small-town, family-centric themes are really my jam...having said that, Nothing But It All is VERY different from Ms. Locke's "normal". This one explores a 20 year marriage in trouble, with the main characters, Lauren and Jack, navigating the landscape of their relationship that seems to have become more of a roommate situation than two people who share a life and two teenage children. When those those two kids get together with Jack's father and come up with a plan to get Lauren and Jack together, some of the funniest and heartwarming scenes occur, inducing a lot of laughter and tugging of the heartstrings...

I absolutely loved everything about this second-chance, never-too-late to re-discover love, love story! Filled to the brim with all the things that make (and sometimes break) a marriage, but the journey to recapturing the obvious love between these two was inspiring! Add to all that Ms. Locke's seriously funny sense of humor (the scenes with the kids and Jack's father conspiring together are HILARIOUS!!!), lightening the serious issues Lauren and Jack are addressing, some of which had the tears freely flowing!

And THAT, my friends, is the sheer MAGIC that is Adriana Locke!
