Nothing But Trouble (Malibu University Series) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 638 ratings

Reagan Reynolds...
Water polo god.
Owner of a face that belongs under Wikipedia’s definition of drop dead gorgeous.
Too charming for his own good.
But most importantly––the worst driver on the planet.

No, really, I’m pretty sure his blind nana taught him how to drive.

I had no idea who he was until he almost ran me over. And frankly, I kind of wish I still didn’t because then I wouldn’t have a sprained ankle to show for it. And my leg wouldn’t resemble a boa constrictor that’s swallowed a feral pig.

Yeah, it’s that bad.

I’ve spent years saving every penny I’ve ever earned to be able to transfer to Malibu University. And now my entire future––including my scholarship––is in jeopardy.

So I either accept the help he insists on giving me, or lose everything I’ve sacrificed for.

In the meantime, I’m going to ignore the fact that we’re becoming friends.

And I’m definitely going to pretend he’s not turning into the object of my…umm, dirty fantasies.

That’s not happening.

Not even a little.

Because the minute I clapped eyes on him I knew he was nothing but trouble.

I make up stories. That's what I do. In the shower, while I'm driving, when I'm at the movies. It only seemed sensible that I should put them down on paper...or computer screen. Romance is in the blood. I grew up watching my father paint the book covers of best selling romantic authors of the 80's and 90's such as Daniel Steele's Palomino. And after writing film scripts for years, I finally made the switch to novels.

When I'm not writing, you can usually find me painting, up to my ankles mucking horse poo at the barn, or daydreaming about my beloved NY Jets getting to the post-season.

Five “god” stars! This book is a big deal...
OMFG! What a diamond of a book is Nothing but Trouble by P. Dangelico. It is the most wonderful College-Friends-to-Lovers-Romance I had the pleasure to read. It is a intense journey with some slow-burn touches that made my heart explode like 4th July fireworks. I loved every little thing about this masterpiece. It has all my favourite tropes packed in a enticing and compelling authenticity that commands and owns you from the first page. Alice and Reagan's story is a perfect blend of witty and angst. A story born in friendship and consumed in tempting romance. Two different people. Two different souls but two similar hearts. They didn't know each other in spite of going to Malibu University. Alice is doing everything to keep her scholarship that will be on jeopardy because of a water polo god. She is an independent and a fierce young woman. She is career focused and she will keep it that way even if that means to accept the help of mentioned water polo god. She won't lose what she worked for. Accepting Reagan's help will be an epic friendship fail. Her sassy mouth and attitude made her unique. Alice will become Reagan's challenge without noticing. Both will be in the friend zone but… How can you be friend of the water polo god when he is the object of your wicked fantasies? Lusting after the one person you are forbidden to lust after. A fail friendship. A love born in scorching hot attraction. The big real deal... Reagan is the epitome of a book boyfriend. He is charming, handsome, swoon-worthy and rich. His stalkerish methods were kind of sweet and like a natural competitor, he lives for the challenge and Alice set it on silver plate for him. He is a fixer. His level of responsibility is out the charts as his loyalty. He is one good guy. He is not only a pretty face and hot body. He is sweet and understanding. There was something endearing about him being like a lost puppy trying to get Alice's attention. It was a delicious torture to see the evolution of both characters. From unknown souls to friends. From friends to lovers. From lovers to soulmates. It makes them such a great couple. Charming, sarcastic, and a penchant for easy and brutal honesty makes them crave things they'd never considered before. Companionship, affection, stability, someone to belong to. The story flows brilliantly and it is poetically addictive. Each page made me ache for more. Every turn and twist made me crave more. P. Dangelico's writing made this story unfolds like a sweet tempting symphony. Nothing but Trouble is nothing but flawless perfection. It is written with authenticity and the storyline is unique and different. It is a breath of fresh air. The author created two characters for whom are perfectly suited yet weren't anywhere near ready to meet that perfect match. I undoubtedly recommend you this book. Alice and Reagan stole a piece of my heart. I loved their friendship. I loved their playful banter. I loved the way they loved each other, even when it hurt. Nothing but Trouble is the real deal. What a way to start the Malibu Series. To simply put it: I loved everything about this book so much.

I can’t believe how much I LOVED this book. I initially read this back when it came out and was completely blown away by the story, so I revisited it just in time for the next book in the series. And I’ve gotta say - it holds up really well. At the time, this was the first book I had read by P. Dangelico but I have since read nearly her entire library of books because this was so great. It’s got some fantastic chemistry between the leads, a relationship that just gets deeper as time goes on, some lightness, and an emotional punch that will hit you in the gut.

Nothing But Trouble follows Alice, a film student from a blue collar family, and Reagan, a premed student and college water polo star from a wealthy family of doctors. When Reagan causes Alice to badly sprain her ankle and she loses her source of income, he feels responsible and won’t stop trying to help her out. Alice is unsure of his motives because Reagan is a “big deal” around campus and she’s already let him off the hook, so she doesn’t understand why he would spend time helping her. There is immediate attraction between the two but they each have their reasons for not pursuing anything, so they wind up developing a friendship.

I loved the slow burn from strangers to friends to lovers. Reagan really is a sweetheart and I never doubted that his feelings for Alice ran deeper than he liked to believe. He is so easy to like, and I was rooting for these two in a big way. It’s New Adult romance done so well, and P. Dangelico filled the book with an intriguing set of supporting characters that I am excited to read future books about. Hopefully we’ll also get an update on Reagan and Alice. Though we get our HEA, it doesn’t come without a few speed bumps along the way - as the title suggests, Reagan is Nothing But Trouble. I received an ARC via NetGalley and then purchased it for my collection, and am voluntarily leaving a review of this slow burn romance.

Nothing But Trouble is such a fantastic read. I love how Reagan and Alice meet in this one. Reagan and Alice may come from different backgrounds but it doesn't mean they can't relate at all to each other. in fact they each bring something more out of each other. Alice she is a strong, nothing is going to stop me, a little stubborn, has a big heart kind of girl. She may have issues taking help from others and her world may be falling apart with a streak of bad luck but nothing is going to stop her from living her life the way she wants That is until Reagan almost runs her over. He is athletic, not too snobby, looks out for everyone and carries everyone's weight on his shoulders kind of guy. Even though guilt played a big part of how Reagan friends Alice in the end that isn't everything. You feel the sparks start to take off in the very beginning as they get to know each other. Even when they friend zone each other when they both want more. I think that is what is needed for them to grow as a couple. If that didn't happen then the little angst in this one may have a completely different result. Nothing But Trouble is a fantastic read. You will fall hard for Reagan and Alice. This is a must read.

Water polo is exciting to watch and water sports in the Olympics is favorite so I had to read this. I like this author's work a lot and those teasers were enticing. This what I like about College set books the whole new experiences and relationships. Nothing but trouble had the feels of a exceptionally good one with great characters and banter. Plus all the slow burn goodness even though that age group is always raring to go. Reagan and Alice had a interesting meet cute and they didn't get along a first. Known for his water polo glory Reagan has it cushy, his parents expect him to toe the line and follow their family legacy. He maybe a pretty face and charming but he's all heart. A good guy, dry sense of humor and sweet as heck.

Alice does everything to avoid Reagan but his guilt over causing her accident and losing her job made him pursue her. To help as a friend but oh man so much chemistry and flirty innuedos. They drew the line with the friend-zone before but it's getting harder to ignore. Oh the angst and the mixed feelings boil into one pot of lust and feelings. When it finally reaches boils over it's just as yummy. I liked Alice she goes for what she wants and her courage is brave. Reagan is just dreamy.

Aside from all that fun stuff this book also has addiction topics. The bad side of it and how Reagan deals with his brother. It can be sensitive to some so heads up. The typical problems on after college plans are part of this too, expectations of parents and your goals. All done is a good way that is relatable to many. Ah the feels, a beautiful love story between Reagan and Alice, from accidents to friends to way more. They overcame a lot. I could relate so much to the last parts.

    P. Dangelico did a terrific job here and it's a fantastic start to new series with interesting layered characters. I couldn't stop reading it hooks you right at the start till the end. I hope to see these characters here again. Malibu University is a hot one and I can't wait for the next.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet NA college sports romance - lacked something

    Three and a half stars.

Aspiring photographer, film-maker Alice Bailey has moved heaven and earth, worked harder than ever before, to get from her small community college in New Jersey to Malibu University and she isn't going to let anyone or anything distract her from her goal of getting an internship with James Cameron's production company by submitting a winning short film by the end of the semester.

Reagan Reynolds maybe the son of hot-shot lawyers, he may have been born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth, he may have the body of a Greek god and be a star player on Malibu's water polo team - but he can't drive. After nearly running Alice over he takes her to the team doctor to assess her injuries, although his family has drilled it into him that they are prime targets for scam artists trying to rip them off for millions in compensation. When Alice brushes off his offers for help he should be relieved, but actually he feels guilty that this girl is suffering because of his poor driving, and intrigued be she seems quick to brush him off.

Reagan is the archetypal poor little rich kid, pressurised by his parents into a career he doesn't want, ignored and neglected. Alice on the other hand is the typical over-achiever from a solid blue collar background, struggling to fulfil her dreams.

Full disclosure, I've been having a rough time recently and so maybe my head isn't in the right space to review books - this will be the third book by a favourite author to get a meh rating in less than a week - but this book just didn't really do it for me. It was typical college YA/NA sports romance/ rich kid/poor kid romance. Sure there's a more believable angst than others in the genre but it just didn't grab me. As I read early into this morning to finish the book I got the distinct impression that it was plot moves forward, they have sex, plot moves forward, they have sex. As if every time anything happened it had to be rounded off with sex. Maybe it was the late hour, but yawn!

Maybe I should have passed on a favourite author when I saw it was billed as NA - I'm a bit over the genre TBH - but it's P. Dangelico so I had to request an ARC.

Anyway, if you aren't sleep deprived, bitter, twisted, cynical and a little bit heartbroken you will probably enjoy this well-written NA sports romance.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Alice was my favourite character in Nothing But Trouble - I loved her, she gave out attitude where it was deserved, especially with Raegan. After Raegan almost runs her over, they slowly become friends. So much chemistry between these 2, I was dying to get to the part in the story where it developed into more.

Raegan Reynolds is known by basically everyone ( except Alice ) and plays with the extremely popular water polo team. He was so drawn to Alice, and so attracted to her yet determined to stay friends. He was pretty frustrating at times!

I really enjoyed reading the first book in the Malibu University Series. It did wrap up very quickly in the end though, I would have loved a little more on Alice and Raegan. He really needed to grovel, A LOT. Hopefully there will be plenty more to see of these 2 in the other books in the series.
