It had just the right touch of angst that makes you wanna read on but doesn't make you uncomfortable and sometimes mad at the characters for their stupid decisions. By the way in chapter 14 I believe There is a mistake As a Sidnie's dad did not have bowel cancer but Prostate cancer.

    What a big heart! Huxley was something else and has always been in love with Elizabeth. But she perceives that he doesn’t love her and she keeps turning down his requests to date. This is the truth, “Being courageous doesn’t mean that you aren’t afraid, it means acting despite being afraid.” This was said by his best friend Mack when Huxley was pondering his decision to “jump” off a building regardless of his fear of heights. Nothing seems to matter to her. She was truly a mess for a while. Good story.

Overall, it was great the right amount of spicy to sappy and who doesn't love a man who is honorable? Hux is a great guy. I loved the plot twists, saw them coming, but not really.

    Huxley and Elizabeth had a brief romance when they were 19, which ended when she discovered he had become a father to someone else's child. Though Elizabeth was heartbroken, they managed to remain best friends. Since then, Huxley has asked her out every month for 10 years, but she believes it would be a mistake and fears another heartbreak. However, when she decides she wants to get pregnant using donor sperm, Huxley is the only person she would consider asking. While he declines artificial insemination, he is open to exploring more traditional methods. All he asked for was one night of passion with him, which at first she refused as she didn't want to lose him as a friend.

    There was good banter between them and their friends. It was also nice to see Mack, Titus, Sidnie, and Victoria in this book, which makes the series all the more enjoyable. I am looking forward to book 3.

    It was always going to be a tough ask to follow the first book in this series and this book knocked it out of the park.
    I cried several times as these characters took their journey. It's inextricably linked to the first book so don't make the mistake of jumping ahead...
    Whilst I struggled to like Elizabeth's character for most of the book the author kept me invested in the story and rooting for the couple.
    Well worth reading and I'm off to buy the next one in the series.

    This is one of my most favourite book of Serenity Woods just for Huxley. Huxley and Elizabeth's story is dreamy, funny, sassy, emotional, and scorching hot. Huxley is by far one of the sweetest guy I have ever read. His love and commitment to Eli was what dreams are made of. I loved his character and Eli, I felt for her, her dilemma and her innermost struggle. But still that didn't justify her stubbornness in keep Hux at bay. She claimed to know him, he was her best friend, but she didn't trust him. Out of the whole book, I felt only her character was flawed and a tad selfish, stringing him along the way. She eventually grew on me, but still Hux deserved better. But apart from Eli, the entire book was a roller coaster ride of emotions and fun. And what do I say about the gang of friends... They r the sweetest. I loved Mack for always standing up for Hux and calling out on Eli. After a long time, I read a story that's heartwarming, cute, made me cry sad and happy tears, and was oh so spicy at the same time. My 5 stars are for Hux, his love, and for his bunch of friends. Recommended.
