Of Lost Things Kindle Edition
I won't let this divorce define my life.
When my husband, who I sacrificed everything for, trades in our life for a fling with a cheerleader, I know it's time for a change.
I pack up our teenage daughter to start a new life in a new house as a single mother, with no idea what comes next.
My entire life has revolved around him. For the first time, I get to make the choices.
But what will I decide when my daughter's poor decision making forces my path to cross with Officer Tyler Mason?
He's kind, attentive, disarmingly attractive... and much younger.
Bringing him into my world feels impossible, maybe even irresponsible, and yet, he's still here.
He makes me feel beautiful. He makes me feel smart.
He encourages me to do what my heart is telling me I should.
I felt lost in my new life, but he found me.
Am I ready to move on or will I run away as fast as I can?

- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2023Ariana Rose is a new-to-me author, so her newest standalone was my introduction to her writing. While it may have been my first read from her, it most certainly won't be the last. Color me impressed because Of Lost Things was a well-written romance about finding love after heartbreak and that age really is nothing more than a number when it comes to matters of the heart. The cast of characters is led by Nina Caufield née Carson and Tyler Mason; she's a forty-one-year-old single mother to thirteen-year-old Mia, and he's a twenty-eight-year-old police sergeant in the town that Nina and Mia have just moved to. The implosion of her marriage came as a surprise to Nina, but then she thought happily-ever-after was a given when you've been with someone for twenty years, eighteen of which were believed to be in wedded bliss. Now, she's trying her best to recreate a home for herself and Mia while figuring what to do with a life that was no longer focused on helping her husband be a success. When Mia gets in trouble and Tyler happens to be the one who catches her, the last thing Nina expects is for the younger man to become such a presence in not only her life but Mia's as well. Is Nina ready and willing to lose her fragile heart on this new, maybe true love she's found with Tyler? With everything she's lost, what else is waiting to be found?
This book! These characters! Their love story! GAH! Nina was such a wonderful female main character--flawed yet brave, knowing she had to be the primary parent and strongest source of support for Mia while also trying to figure out what her life would look like now that she and her cheating ex were divorced. I appreciated her vulnerability and strength and cheered her on, especially whenever she had to be firm when it came to matters involving her daughter. And Tyler? The pessimist in me would be say he was too good to be true, but the hopeless romantic side of me thinks that there are still good men in the world, so why shouldn't some of them be found between the covers of a romance novel? He was such a protector, whether it came to his sister and her family or Nina and her daughter. When he was all in, he was all in, and he didn't have a single iota of hesitation of regret because he believed the time and effort he was putting in was worthwhile. These main characters shared a stellar connection, but I need to tip my hat off to the peripheral characters as well, particularly, Mia (Nina's daughter), Kelly (Tyler's older sister), Ashley (Nina's best friend), and Ryan (Tyler's best friend and partner). My one quibble? Whatever happened to Smoky, a cat introduced early in the story and then there was no other mention of him, only to have another cat, Moose, make an appearance in the epilogue. Overall, Of Lost Things is a highly commendable book, both with its story and the storytelling, which is why I'm handing it five stars.

This book was good but I don't quite understand the title. I mean I get that she was lost after getting her world rocked and dealing with the aftermath of the divorce but I was hoping for more.
Nina is a single mom. She was used to being in the limelight. Every thing about her relationship and marriage with Justin was out in the public for everyone to see. With him out of the picture she is lost and confused on how to do life. A younger man comes into her life and knocks some sense into her.
Tyler is a police officer and single. He always wanted to settle down but never found the right girl until Nina. He was remarkable and 100% amazing with her teenage daughter. He treats her like she's the most important person in the room just like he does with Nina. I seriously loved Tyler and Nina.
This was a good book with great characters and heartfelt moments!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2023Once again Ariana gives us all the feels with Nina and Tyler’s story. From the beginning we are transported to the words in the pages. You feel the tension, angst, and heartbreak. But, are so happy when you get this amazing slow burning, second chance love story. I mean, who doesn’t love a slightly younger alpha cinnamon roll who happens to be a cop? We watch as the universe puts this amazing, protective, patient, understanding, loving and sexy man into her life. We watch Nina and her daughter Mia go through a rollercoaster of emotions after having to start from square one. Their life as they knew it had been turned upside down. Loved their bits of banter when Nina would let her walls down. Mia’s such a smart 13 year old. Loved her storyline. And, of course it was great seeing the growth from Nina and Tyler individually and as a couple. The Epilogue was just a chefs kiss. Great read.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2023Stoic, mature police office Tyler meets his perfect woman. She’s a divorced middle aged mom who feels broken, but he only sees how brilliant she shines. There’s tons of chemistry backed by a perfect book boyfriend. He reminds me of the “Hey Girl” meme. Gave my husband the side eye a few times reading Tyler’s pov lol!
If you’re looking for hot, swoony, perfection please let me introduce you to Sergeant Tyler Mason. Things I loved about Nina, she was a mom first. She made sure her kid was okay. Even when the kid messed up she disciplined, and she made sure her kid’s emotions were being considered.
This is a reverse age gap, divorced single mom dealing with the aftermath of her ex-husband’s infidelity and the damage it’s done to herself and her teenage daughter. A fun read.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2023It's no secret that I love books by Ariana Rose and Of Lost Things is another fantastic book to add to the collection. I went in expecting a complicated love story and was surprised (in such a good way) with a sweet story of strength (both mother and daughter) and love after hurt. The element of the reverse age gap was perfect in this story, which, I felt, added to the vulnerability of this story. Not only does the MFC, Nina struggle with the fact that she's starting over after a divorce in the public eye but she also has to overcome the initial nagging in her own mind regarding the age difference between herself and the MMC, a younger man (hello, hot cop!). I adored the depth of the storyline that Tyler brought to the book - you could feel how he instantly felt connected to Mia, Nina's daughter, due to past hurts he knew from childhood. If you're a romance fan, definitely make time to read this one!
