Off the Wall: M/M Fantasy Romance Kindle Edition
After the royal moat dragon is accused of murder, Prince Cyril immediately heads to his childhood friend-turned-nemesis's farm to exonerate the beast. Too bad Rye still hates him and assassins want him dead.
Rye has avoided Prince Cyril since he learned his crush was futile. Now, he's responsible for his siblings and the majority of the kingdom's food supply. He doesn't have time for his princely annoyance, especially when they're trapped together with only one bed.
Instead of finding a way to return the prince to the castle, Cyril and Rye succeed only in irritating each other until another feeling rears its ugly head. Love or no, a prince can't marry a farmer, even if their relationship is key to restoring peace in their kingdom.
Off The Wall is a male/male fantasy friends-to-enemies-to-lovers romance with comedic and cottage core elements. It has a farmer turned rescuer, a himbo prince who complicates everything, a princess with amnesia, and a playful moat dragon. There's snark, spice, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
Content Warning: Off the Wall contains fantasy violence with swords, assassins, dungeons, and the aforementioned hungry moat dragon. It also contains farm animal battery for butchering. There is mention of a fatal plague-like disease.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2023This is my first book by Edie and I love it. The characters are well fleshed out. The story moves at a fast pace. I love that the female characters are not damsels that need saving like most stories The main characters are sweet and their relationship is one you will find yourself rooting for And there's a dragon! What else do you need
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2023I truly loved the base fantasy elements such as the dragon and the history of side character relationships. I also loved the contemporary flare of the romance. I'm not sure the two came together cohesively.
The angst builds somewhat clunkily but persistently to the spicier scenes popular in modern romance. Rye and Prince Cyril are a fun couple with misunderstandings and assumptions from their youth. I was happy to read through their story as they came to know each other better. Likewise, I'm looking forward to more from Edie Montreaux as they perfect their recipe for romance.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2024I’ve read books by this author before, which I really enjoyed. This one had promise but was mostly disappointing and at time confusing.
First of all, this book is slooooow! Most of it is spent inside Rye’s family home waiting through the cold winter, for Catalina to regain her memory and for Rye and Cyril to move past the stupid phase and admit their true feelings.
The storyline jumped forward randomly and you could suddenly be days or weeks ahead from what you were just reading. And it seemed like every scene, especially the intimate scenes, were interrupted by someone announcing dinner/supper was ready.
As the story slogged along and Rye and Cyril were getting more openly lovey-dovey, Cyril kept announcing that he would abdicate his throne if his mother, Queen Minerva, didn’t allow him to marry Rye. Abdicate? He has no throne, he is not the crown prince, he’s just a “spare” as he said himself. So what exactly does he have to abdicate? And when the family was exchanging gift for Solstice, or whatever holiday it was, Catalina’s gift to the family was a portrait of her with her mother and brother. Um, didn’t she notice that the guy in the portrait was the real Cyril, not Rye. Wouldn’t that have helped with her memory. Instead, her memory get triggered by a soap sculpture of Sox, the occasionally appearing moat dragon.
The cast of characters felt one-dimensional. There was nothing that made them feel real. Even the key plot points were lacking excitement. When our heroes finally return to the castle and creepy King Azerton confronts them, what should have led to at least a full chapter of intrigue and drama fizzles in just a few pages, with the help of here again/gone again Sox. And when Catalina and Cyril confront their mother about allowing them to marry commoners, we get a lot of boohoo woe-is-me from the Queen and, snap, she changes the law. The story stumbles along briefly after that until we get to the snooze-worthy epilogue.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2023This was an absolutely adorable book! The angst at the first part of the story was just perfect and the ending was wonderful. I loved the real getting to know each other while hiding from the evil King and the family they became part of. A real gem of a story. Highly recommend
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2023This story base is not my usual trope but I was really looking forward to reading this one. As an avid ARC reader I can say I usually only write a review that's worth it or should be considered to be checked out as a whole per genre.Everyone has different feelings per aspects depending. I thought this story caught me up and it definitely had appealing characters. I don't like spoil alerts so you won't hear nothing from that aspect. However, it wasn't too slow yet too fast. Even though Its so annoying when ur into a story and want to shake the characters for being obtuse or stubborn about the truth of their feelings yet love it at the same time. You never can be too sure the outcome along the way. This Author did just about the right mix, had great characters and character traits, you get all the love and suspense they are going for, keeps you interested without snoozing at any point so for me it was a great read. Coodoes! 5 stars
- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2023Standalone. Fantasy. Childhood friends to adversaries to lovers. Close proximity. Second chance. Slow burn. Dual POV. Rye grew up alongside royalty but when his parents died he took over the family farm, raising his siblings, and trying to forget the man that was once his best friend but now treats him with disdain. Cyril has loved Rye since they were children, but royalty can’t marry commoners and he has had to keep his distance from Rye in front of his mother the queen while secretly yearning for a different life. Now there is danger threatening the royal family and when Rye rescues the princess after she loses her memory and then has to shelter the prince as well, he slowly finds that Cyril is the same friend he loved but also a different man that he wishes he could keep forever. This story has humor, family love and loyalty, remembering friendship, interesting secondary characters, steamy times, and rediscovering a lost love. An entertaining read with a couple that learn to appreciate each other and are willing to sacrifice for their HEA.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2023While things get off to a slow start, the author paints a beautiful picture of the characters and the world, which was incredible, by the way!
From the language used to the stunning descriptors, I was thrown into a whole new world which is exactly why I read!
Rye and Cyril were friends as children and had both secretly yearned for each other for years. Their stations in life stood between them and their HEA until a tragedy, a mystery, and forced proximity throw them back together again - let the slow burn and hot and cold commence!
The cast of secondary characters was incredibly well-defined; each one added something to the story and the plot.
I fell hook, line, and sinker into Rye and Cyril’s world, and I feel like it’s somewhere I will go back to again and again. I can’t wait to explore this author's backlist and see what they do next!
