About the author

Angela Clarke is a best-selling novelist and screenwriter, happily living (and writing) in her 'apartmentini' in London. She loves writing gripping twisty stories that grab you by the scruff of your neck and demand your attention. She's the author of crime thrillers On My Life (Hachette, 2019), Trust Me (HarperCollins, 2017), Watch Me (HarperCollins, 2016), and Follow Me (HarperCollins, 2015). Angela also wrote the humorous memoir Confessions of a Fashionista (Penguin Random House, 2013). Follow Me was named Amazon’s Rising Star Debut January 2016, long listed for the Crime Writer’s Association Dagger in the Library 2016, and short listed for the Dead Good Page Turner Award 2016.
A sufferer of the rare genetic condition Ehlers Danlos Syndrome III, Angela is passionate about bringing disabled talent and stories to all. She also really wishes there were more mirrors in accessible toilets, so she could check her hair before meetings.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was a first for me by Angela Clark(e?) but she has me hooked.
Crime, heavy drama, interesting characters & story arc that evoked one emotion after another.
When I write reviews - I am letting others who love the genre or want to try it out that this is a really good book. I dislike reading spoiler reviews so I try not to give anything away.
Again, tight, twisty plot with characters you love and those characters we love to hate...when the final brick drops into place ..your jaw will drop.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAs usual, Angela Clarke has created a thought-provoking, page-turning thriller. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because the English prison in which the protagonist spends much of the book is Dickensian in its sheer awfulness. I found many of the scenes downright disturbing which, of course, was the author's intent. Nevertheless, if you like Angela Clarke (and I do) you will likely like this offering as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOH My Gosh, I loved, loved, loved this book! Its definitely one of the best physcological books I've read this year! I never could have guessed the ending, and I read at least 3 books a week, i usually at least have an idea. This book blew me away, I literally couldn't put it down! It's a twisty, gritty thriller you don't want to miss. Do yourself a favor, quit reading these reviews, get the book!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have mixed thoughts about this book. It was okay, but I found it more of a prison reform story than an actual psychological thriller.
Jenna has been put in prison to await her trial for murdering her fiancé and her fiancé’s daughter. She soon discovers she is pregnant and then you get to read about her prison experience with little emphasis on the actual murder until the end. No true character development and no surprise ending.
It was interesting, but not my cup of tea.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGood plot and believable characters. The story line keeps you interested and even when you figure out who the culprit is, you can't help but feel sorry for everyone. I will definitely read more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA very good book with a strong heroine who endures injustice but stays strong and fights for truth and freedom. Most of the book takes place in a women's prison and it's definitely a scary and bleak place to be -especially if you are pregnant as the protagonist of this novel is. I enjoyed this book and the ending was very unexpected.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved this book! It was informative, fascinating and horrifying. Couldn't put it down, and the ending was a rollercoaster that I'd never experienced in my life! Well written. I will look for more books by this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhat wonderfully woven story of hope and loss. The bonds of family at times so strong and other times weak. I know this is a book of fiction but the core is so very true and all to prevalent in all societies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and unputdownable!
Having read the social media murder books by Angela Clarke I was keen to see how she did with a stand alone thriller. And I’m pleased to report that she has surpassed herself with this terrifyingly brilliant novel that’s part psychological thriller and part prison drama! When Jenna is sent to prison to await trial for the murder of her stepdaughter, she is determined that she won’t go down without a fight against the system. She says she’s innocent but if she is then who did kill Emily and why? As the books flashes back to Jenna meeting her fiancé and the development of their relationship, we are introduced to some unexpected family secrets but don’t expect to be lead by the hand to the truth because this journey follows a very twisty path indeed!
Honestly, this book literally grabs hold of you from the first page and does not let go!! After finding Jenna a little too good to be true at the start, I gradually found out more about her history and that began to explain some of the decisions she made and why. But I couldn’t decide if she was just naive or just very manipulative as she rushes into a relationship with her fiancé without realising that he comes as a package! But On Her Life isn’t just a mystery to solve, it’s a brilliant study of life in a woman’s prison and the relationships that get formed there. Yes, there’s a hierarchy that is difficult to make sense of if you’ve never been faced with jail time (this makes me sound as though I have but I haven’t!!) but the relationships between these women, who are all in jail for very different crimes, is a huge part of this book.
I could not put this book down and raced through it in a matter of hours…then wanted to kick myself because I’d read it too quickly!! But this addictive read is pretty much impossible to put down. It was like picking up a bar of Green and Blacks Butterscotch Chocolate and telling yourself you’re only going to eat a couple of squares but knowing that you’ll end up eating the whole thing at once! (Please tell me that this isn’t just me lol) Jenna is a brilliant character creation that every reader will be rooting for as she battles to prove her innocence before her own child is born. Angela Clarke doesn’t waste a word as she keeps her plot tight and her writing expressly to the point. The characters felt so realistic, they could have been plucked out of any office or home in your neighbourhood so it was fascinating to see how real women reacted to a prison life that definitely wasn’t on the list of things they wanted to achieve in their lives.
This is a brilliant but terrifying thriller that kept my blood pressure higher than my doctor would approve of but what’s a little hypertension between author and reader eh?! This is definitely one of the best thrillers I’ve read this year and one I can highly recommend especially for the number of OMFG moments throughout! Loved it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast Paced and Enjoyable
Jenna has the perfect life, a good job, a fiancée she adores and a beautiful home. Then suddenly she is arrested for the murder of her stepdaughter and her partner Robert is missing. Locked up until her trial, she is trying to keep her head down because other prisoners will hurt her if they know what she’s accused of, Jenna needs to clear her name. Jenna is sure that someone close to her has framed her and she needs to work out who it is before time runs out.
A good storyline, which is very fast paced and kept me turning the pages until the end. I liked the short sharp chapters and the characters were likeable. Overall I really enjoyed it and recommend to anyone who likes fast paced psychological thrillers.
