One Night by Aleatha Romig is a delightful contemporary romance. Unlike some of her previous novels that are loaded with angst and suspense, One Night is a light hearted romance that will make your heart tingle.

Mandy is a widow and single mother. She married her husband when she was nineteen and became a mother at twenty. Her husband died before he held his son. Now her son is five and ready to start school. Her family and friends think it’s time for Mandy to start living her own life as well. With the encouragement of her family she allows her best friend to set up a blind date. The blind date ends up being a bust but she meets Malcolm at the bar. Malcolm is the kind of man who makes her want something just for herself. She’s willing to make an exception, one night and one night only. She’s not ready for a full blown relationship but she is ready to feel like a woman once again.

Mandy insists on keeping their relationship a secret. She isn’t ready to introduce Malcolm to her son. She doesn’t know if she’s ready to commit to a real relationship. Malcolm is a good man but she’s not sure if she can handle anything more.

Fate has a way of intervening and it does on more than one occasion. Fate is going to prove that Malcolm and Mandy were meant to be together.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet romance by Aleatha Romig. It proves she can write any kind of book and keep her readers completely charmed.

I am adoring the lighter side of Leatha!!! This is the second light side and 16th book of Aleatha Romig's that I have read. I would dare to say that I am a little bias in that she has never failed to make me fall in LOVE with her imagination, heart, and mind when it comes to her stories.

In this story we have Amanda who has had some devastating things happen to her in her lifetime. I related to her struggles because I have had friends go through similar situations as Amanda was struggling with. I appreciated the struggle and the journey she ultimately took to get to the ending of this book. Then there was our main male character Malcolm.....I loved him from the start even though he is described as a playboy. I loved that his character was shown as someone that acknowledged past actions to learn from them and not doomed to repeat them. When conflicts arose (for both characters) there was this level of maturity that was fresh and new. Just goes to show that angst in a book doesn't have to be laced with immature actions.

Malcolm and Amanda's individual and combined journey was fun, sexy, freeing, and touching as each page was turned. There is a level of predictability with some aspects of the story but as it has been said this is the "lighter side of Leatha" so all the normal, dark and twisted turns that Aleatha likes to throw at her readers are not as dark or twisted. This is another big hit in my book for Aleatha Romig's lighter side of writing!

While this is a departure from Aleatha Romig's usual romance style, all the strong points are still there: strong, likeable characters, interesting storyline. This is a poignant, lighthearted love story.

Mandy is trying, with big pushes from her mom and best friend, to put herself out there and live again after losing her soldier husband five years ago. Until now her life has completely revolves around her five year old son. While waiting to meet her blind date Mandy meets Malcolm. One thing leads to another , after the blind date doesn't show up, and Mandy agrees to one night with Malcom. She is strongly attracted to him and needs to be "fun Mandy" again even if it's for just one night. If Malcolm het his way it will be for a lot more than one night. He's been drawn to her since first setting eyes on her. As tbeir "non relationship " evolves they reveal themselves a little at a time but Mandy is reluctant to tell all and still seeks to protect her son. A happy coincidence finally brings all secrets out into the open and Mandy, her son and Malcolm get their HEA

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS - I picked up this light romance by Aleatha Romig exactly when I needed a sweet love story. It is incredibly simple, not much angst. Mandy is a single mother so when she meets hottie Malcolm in a restaurant one night rather than her blind date, their chemistry is off the charts and she agrees to live this one night to the fullest. Malcolm is a retired hockey player and breaks down Mandy's resistance little by little - at least he gets her to spend time in his bed. The problem is that Mandy is a widower and a single mother and is afraid of opening up her life to Malcolm. Very sweet ending though where their personal lives cross and it is all wrapped up in a pretty bow for Malcolm, Mandy, and little Jason. Still, a nice romance to cut through all the dark and violent books I've been reading lately.

It was an okay and quick read. Mandy was a widow and a devoted mother to her young son. She forgot how to enjoy herself being ladened with responsibilities. A carefree one-night stand with Malcolm led to a fling. She was determined to separate that life and shield it from her son. However, Malcom was determined to have a relationship with her. Whenever Malcolm called Mandy “Beautiful Mandy” or “gorgeous”, I felt it kind of creepy. Mandy seemed normal but Malcolm was borderline obsessive which took the romance away.

A story to follow, Alpha caring male Malcolm, pretty single mom Amanda, meet under one night circumstances, and so the storyline continues. So many arh moments. A smile with every page. Ales that can write some very dark storylines and I would not like her to stop, but these are equally as good and satisfying. May well appeal to a different audience.

I love both sides to Aleatha Romig's work.

This one had me intrigued. Amanda and Malcolm's story seemed like it would be obvious and maybe in parts it was, yet mostly it wasn't.

One Night was meant to be just that, but it turned into everything the more Amanda and Malcolm spent time together, their love grew, but not without the hesitancy of their relationship lasting with the foundation it began.

I love the sweet, sexy, sassy side to Aleatha's writing, while it wasn't all swoony it dealt with real and difficult feelings too.

I can't wait for more from both sides of Ms. Romig.

Pep & Amanda are each other blinds dates but they don't know it. Thinking they have been stood up, they hook up. This is quite a touching story of a reformed playboy meeting an adorable single mum & their progress into a relationship & more.
