    One Taste of Love follows Ben and Rita. From the day Ben met Rita, he knew she was the one for him. She's quiet but her mere presence speaks volumes. When he finally gets the nerve to ask her out, she turns him down. His friends that we met in book one, Zeke, Zoe, and Dee are always pushing him to ask her out because he's never told them he was shot down, it hurt too much. But now there is a murderer out there, one that is taking down people that Ben thinks look a lot like Rita. He's edgy and scared for her, but what can he do? He's in love with a woman who nearly broke him in two with her rejection.
    If you're new to this series, the great part of it is that you can read each book as a standalone. Knowing the characters from the other books does tie things together nicely and it makes it feel like you're greeting old friends. From Ben and Zeke's hilarious comradery, Zeke and Zoe's swoon-worthy romance, to Dee's over-protectiveness, this series is filled with great characters. The relationship between Ben and Rita is sweet and endearing, and as Siegrist warns in her blurb, there's insta-love. She makes it work well because while a relationship is blooming, there's a murder to solve.
    This is the third book I've read by Siegrist and she has the romantic suspense genre down pact. I love the edge of the seat feeling you get, desperately turning pages trying to solve the case right along with Ben and Zeke.

    One Taste of Love is the second book in the A One Taste Novel series. The characters of Ben and Rina were introduced in the first novel of this series. With that said you could read this as a stand-alone book but I feel that you would get more from the story if you read the books in order.

    Ben is a sweet character and has been in love with Rina since the first moment he saw her. He was a bit shy and intimidated by Rina in the beginning but his heart yearned for her. Rina’s character very much gave off the impression that Ben was strictly in the friend zone and that there would be no compromise on that aspect.

    It was lovely to see Ben finally just wave his hands in the air (figuratively) at Rina and say enough! He just had enough and his heart couldn’t take anymore rejection. It was this final act of frustration that cracked Rina’s composure just enough and allowed him a glimpse of what lay beneath her cool exterior. Oh yeah, Rina had the hots for Ben and he was all in after that.

    He grabbed her hands, weaving his fingers through hers, and pulled her closer.
    “I would love to help you change.”
    Her heart started to pound in tune with his as a light blush tinged her cheeks. Good to know she was just as nervous as him.
    “I think I should change by myself.”
    He lightly touched her lips, gaining a soft moan from her.
    “You sound so unsure. You keep saying you think. Trust me, I know. I’m very good at changing clothes. I’ve mastered it very well.”

    Zing! Things escalated between these two characters and hello sexy times! I love the writing style of Amanda Siegrist because she can make the dialogue very sensual but it still has that comedic element that just makes it a fun read. This excerpt had me laughing because I could just see the character of Ben saying this to Rina. Love it!

    Things are not smooth sailing though. While Ben is trying to woo Rina to keep her in his life despite the costs, and there are costs, things are spiraling at his job. There is a serial killer on the prowl who appears to have his sights set on Rina. Ben is caught between trying to develop a relationship and keep his woman safe at the same time. It makes for a roller-coaster of a story but will have you all warm in the heart by the end!

    There is tension, suspense, and heat sprinkled throughout this story. It is a fast read that will keep the pages turning! In addition, you are not truly sure until the end who the killer is so you definitely have the “ah ha” moment! Truly a wonderful read and I recommend this book and the series!

    A sweet romance, with some comedy, mixed with a little suspense! Something for everyone! As much as I enjoyed the romance and the suspense, and had a few laughs, the thing that I loved the most about this book is the camaraderie between the main characters and the group of supporting characters, the friendships are awesome, and definitely a highlight for me! We also got to catch up with Zoe and Zeke from book one in this series, which I always enjoy when I read a series, getting to see how the characters from previous books are doing and what they're up to. The romance developed well, and the suspense side had a nice mystery to it that was fun to watch unravel. All in all although this book had a lot of different aspects they all merged together well to produce a great story.

    I enjoyed this book.
    Ben and Rena are the stars of this second book in the series and have a bit of a struggle getting things right. Particularly when women's bodies are being found and they look like Rena!
    Ben is determined to protect her at all costs and she's not quite as eager to follow his orders. She's had more than enough with people telling her what to do in her life!
