The Ops Room Girls is a romance with terrific range. This WWII story has humour, love, tension and danger, and it’s all wrapped up in a strikingly authentic historical plot. Evie Bishop is a working-class girl from Oxford who is given the opportunity to study maths at Oxford. When tragedy strikes and she is unable to attend, she instead chooses to sign up with the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force so that she can find purpose in helping the war effort. And here she meets new friends and charming Air Force pilots. Vicki Beeby has crafted a compelling plot that moves effortlessly from one beat to the next, as a slow-burn romance gently unfolds. This is a fantastic debut, which launches a heartwarming wartime saga.

This was a good read. It has suspense and romance, and three women coming of age in World War II. What more could you want?
