Oxford Star (Romancing Oxford Book 2) Kindle Edition
JACK
Rock stars shouldn't suffer from debilitating panic attacks, but I'm barely hanging on by my famous fingernails. That's why I leverage the name I despise to study my childhood love of astronomy. Just one term at Oxford? Problem solved.
Too bad my pre-stardom life reappears to haunt me in the form of Lucy Snow, the sharp-tongued, opulent-bodied woman I can't seem to forget. This would be the perfect opportunity to make amends for stealing her fantasy four years ago, except Lucy's love for me has turned to loathing.
When she refuses my financial help, I have a wonderful, dangerous idea…
LUCY
Jack Seary stole my dream of a singing career and made it his reality. When he trampled my heart, he also taught me a lesson: being selfless and hardworking makes me Cinderella without the goddamn glass slipper.
Now this infuriating thief of a man thinks I'll pretend to be his girlfriend to dispel tabloid rumors? Ha!
Oxford Star is an enemies-to-lovers, fake dating, second chance, celebrity / rock star romance with a plus sized heroine and panic / anxiety rep. Brace yourself for a SLOW-BURN (but steamy!) romance that explores the complexity of love, dreams, and redemption under the dreaming spires of Oxford University.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2023The second book in Laura’s Oxford series is more emotional and intense than we’ve seen from her. Jack and Lucy were friends in Newfoundland before a major disappointment got in the way of Lucy getting her dream and left Jack moving on to stardom. Both had difficult parent relationships to deal with that impacted their life choices, and got in the way of their shot at happiness. When they meet four years later on a plane to England their past relationship has a chance to build again, but not before intense emotions, Jack’s battle with anxiety, and sadness for both get in the way. An amazing eight weeks at Oxford changes everything, and along with their friends, they each find their niche and happiness together.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2023Loved our new rock stars. Oxford is so lucky. It's always good to get away from the world and in the middle of Laura's stories
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2023I started out loving Oxford Star. I am not kidding, I laughed out loud like 5 times in the first 3 chapters of the book. The books follows Lucy as she unwittingly because reacquainted with her teenage first love Jack, who is now a mega rock star in need of a sabbatical. They both were supposed to audition for Canada's Got Talent, but Jack betrayed Lucy by signing an exclusive contract to join a band known as Northern Junk. Four years later the two end up at Oxford College together. Lucy begins studying for an advanced pace law degree to support her mother and baby sister since her dad died in a boating access. Jack is suffering severe panic attacks and starts a research project on his favorite star in the universe (he's an astronomy nerd). Through forced proximity and a fake dating scheme the two fall back into love with each other and come to term with the way their futures are shaping out.
I really liked the romantic scenes that the author thought out. There were several super cute things that Jack did for Lucy that really warmed my cold dead heart. She has a penchant for fairy lights, which is a surefire way to get my mental picture of the scene to go into overdrive. I also enjoyed that Jack was not aggressive in the alpha male way that many rom-com's portray. Even though he's a mega star, he's down to earth and normal in a nice way.
I was severely disappointed with the absolutely unhinged turn the very end of the book took. I feel as thought the usual third act break up in rom-com's would have been way more agreeable than dramatic scene that solidifies Jack and Lucy's love. I know that this will also be a niche take, but it's clear the author doesn't know how the scientific field works. The idea that a student could, in less than 6 months, make a major academic discover, write, and publish a paper is laughable. That's just not how it works and irritated me rather than what I'm sure was supposed to be a heart warming ending. All of the junk in the last two chapters was what made me knock a star off of my rating.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2023I absolutely love this book! So much that I'm going to buy the authors backlist!!
This is a wonderful rock star romance, where both main characters are going to Oxford.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2024Famous Rockstar Jack Seary wants nothing more than to trade his fame for a quiet life in academia. Lucy Snow is working towards her law degree to support her mother and younger sister believing her dreams of stardom are out of her reach despite her compelling voice. When these two bump into each other after four years apart things are complicated to say the least. All the could have been loom between them as they carve their paths forward.
Dual POV, Spicy, Second Chance, Forced Proximity, Curvy FMC
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2023A unusual departure from her sweetly romantic tales. The graphic and redundant sex terms used in the sex scenes is not her usual language. It's like someone else wrote them. If you could ignore that, the extremely poor editing and sentence construction distracts the reader. I started bookmarking and highlighting the errors that stopped me from reading, but soon gave up. Someone should read the books before publishing them with so many errors. I've loved all her books, but writing them and getting them out quickly has definitely been detrimental to her skills. I don't be reading any new offerings by her.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2023This is a cute romance that includes important topics, such as self-discovery, family issues, and anxiety.
I loved this book! I definitely recommend it if you like forced proximity, friends to lovers, dual POV, and fake dating.
I enjoyed reading their backstory, banter, and chemistry. Lucy is so witty. I love her lines, especially when they reunite. She's also independent, caring, and determined to ignore Jack. Jack is so adorable with how he remembers every little detail about her, and I love his romantic gestures. I also love how Jack helps her learn how to embrace her true self.
I love their friends at Oxford! They're funny, unique, amazing, and supportive. I definitely want to read Oxford Wild now too!
Towards the end, I was surprised because some things were unexpected and a little sudden. But, it wasn't anything disappointing and I loved the epilogue. It tied everything together well, and I didn't want this book to end.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5⭐️
Wow, what a wonderful and cute romance was it with some healthy dose of emotions and depth.
A world famous Rockstar with millions of adoring fans but secretly struggling with crippling anxiety + a curvy, bold and intelligent heroine who gives as good as she gets and can sing like an angel? I loved this pairing.
Jack and Lucy was so in sync with each other and had a strong connection. I loved how their story progressed and all that romantic gestures of Jack.
And that dreamy friends group they got… sigh! Loved the name for their group-SKULK (a group of fox).
There is something about a story that set in Britain that push all my buttons. I loved the charming way all the British slang, people, geography and alleys were portrayed.
Oh, and I hated Gary!
I didn’t give it full stars because Jack didn’t check on Lucy even once after he got famous, even though they were very good friends and secretly loved each other. Their meeting again was pure coincidence.
Overall a very well written romance with charming backdrop, deep characters, angst, self discovery, friendship and finding love again and fighting for it.
Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read’ Great Storyline. Great Location.
A great read that grabs attention from takeoff. Newfoundlanders, Lucy and Jack, are surprised to find themselves flying together on their way to Oxford University where they quickly become part of a supportive College set. But they have history. Both are seeking their own space at Oxford - Lucy, the substitue parent for her pampered and financially dependent mother and younger sister, and Jack, the charismatic rock star with his ambitious parents, manager’s greed, and intrusive paparazzi. Both can see nothing but a treadmill of commitments ahead. Can Lucy and Jack find peace with their pasts and courage to make their dreams a reality? Great characters and beautifully written.
