Oxford Wild (Romancing Oxford Book 1) Kindle Edition
I came to Oxford eager to learn, but it’s my haughty professor who needs a lesson.
CEDARMy name is Cedar Wild—wild by name, wild by nature. I arrived at Oxford straight from my family’s off-grid log cabin deep in the Canadian forest. Intimidating? Absolutely. But if I can run a trapline and butcher a moose, I can adapt to student life at the world’s most illustrious university. Right?
I hadn’t bargained on my barely-older-than-me advisor, Alfred, Lord Invernay. On my first night in Oxford, I help him out of a mortifying situation. By all accounts, this brilliant, rugby-playing academic should make a much-needed friend. Instead, he treats me like a pebble in his brogues.
Sure, the air snaps with electricity every time we’re in a room together, but he’s obsessed with rules—especially the proper respect due to him as a newly minted Oxford faculty member. Let’s just say reverence is not exactly what he gets from me.
ALFIE
It's obvious Cedar has never encountered a rule in her life, much less followed one. She needs taming if she's going to put her right foot forward at Oxford. Thanks to College orders that unenviable task is mine. Good grief, this should be interesting.
Oxford Wild is an enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract, fish-out-of-water, SLOW-BURN (but steamy!) romance. Fasten your seatbelts for the culture clash to end all culture clashes within the dreaming spires of Oxford University. New World vs. Old World. Who will prevail?

- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2022This is a opposites attract, fish out of water, teacher / student romance. (He's her junior advisor, he's 24 she's 22)
Cedar Wild, our heroine, is a fish out of water at Oxford College. Traveling all the way from RURAL Northwest Canada to England the day before classes start and she is off to a rough start! But she is independent and determined. I absolutely loved her. She takes risks, she stands up for herself, she knows what is right, she doesn't back down and speaks up when no one around her thinks it proper. I LOVE HER.
Lord Alfred Invernay, Alfie, he is so smitten with her!!! "A sense of rightness like nothing I'd ever experienced hummed through me. I could handle this. I could handle loving her. She was worth everything." This poor guy thinks he needs to be proper and perfect to keep scandal from tarnishing his reputation, but then Cedar crashes into his life and he starts to question all his rules and regulations he has surrounded himself with. Yes! Question your entire life because you met the girl who makes you reconsider EVERYTHING. I AM HERE FOR IT!
There is so many laugh out loud scenes in this book. And we get a little rag tag cast of friends that add fun and heart to the story as well. But my favorite part is some of the most romantic lines I have ever read. I am telling you, Alfie made me swoon.
"...but just kissing her was cracking my soul wide open. I adored her, I adored this."
These two can just be bumped up the to top of my favorite couples list. I LOVED how Cedar won't just let the awkward conversation be ignored. She is here for the open communication and she is now my favorite of all heroines. More of this in romance, PLEASE! And how Alfie just owns that he screwed up and wants to make it up to her, so many screw ups. Haha. Bless. This book swooped in and stole my heart!
Gah, Lord Alfred Invernay just stole it, he stole my heart!
I have NO CHILL about how good this book is!!!

- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2022There is just something extra special about this story that really captured my heart... Maybe it was the 'reverse Tarzan and Jane', set in the world of rigid academia, or maybe it was the adorable breath-of-fresh-air heroine.
I fell for the majestic tradition and that old-leather smell of libraries and then relished breaking all the rules for the sake of love. I adored Cedar and Alfie and how utterly different they were. I sometimes feel like the 'opposites attract' romcoms play it too safe with characters who are only a bit grumpy/sunshiny, but not really that different. Cedar and Alfie are polar opposites. Apart from their passion for medieval literature, they have nothing in common and are both fascinated and puzzled by one another. Yet, they fit together. In this book, Laura pulls off one of my favourite things in a love story: two people with complementing strengths and weaknesses. They don't just fall in love, they change each other for the better.
Oxford Wild is a beautifully crafted tale with some excitement and intrigue thrown in! Highly recommend ❤️
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2022This was a sweet, romantic story, written through his and her pov's which I love. It's a stand- alone novel with a HEA. The only reason I didn't give the story 5 stars is because I wouldn't have minded a tad more steaminess on the intimate scenes.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2021I did not know what I was getting into with this book! I found myself trying to figure out the chemistry between Cedar and Alfie and then, they both discovered their special place with one another. In the library no less. Get ready to find out for yourself the magic of young, spicy love at Oxford. Did I say Oxford? Read on. Thank you Laura Bradbury. What’s next?
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2021I’ve followed Laura’s writings almost from the beginning, and can only smile in appreciation for the talent she is becoming. Character development is, perhaps, one of her strongest suits, and here in “Oxford Wild” we see just how good she is at bringing “people” to life on the page. That skill, combined with a true story-teller’s knack for spinning a tale, make this book one of her best yet. Bien joué, Laura!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great plot. Great read. The Oxford tutor and wild student.
Oxford: Reclining on a punt on the Thames under the dappled sunlight; historic honey stoned architecture; the Bridge of Sighs; the Colleges; tradition; power; privilege; prejudice; benefactors; pubs; academics; and students!
Alfie, Lord Invernay, familiar with aristocratic society and Beaufort College traditions, is striving to escape his father’s tabloid attracting antics to become a staid, self-contained Fellow, with similar colourless girlfriends. Until he comes face to face with his fascinating, rather wild pupil, Cedar. The only daughter of hermit-styled bear researchers, and educated online in the isolated forests in northwest Canada, Cedar has the instincts for survival and self-sufficiency in this wilderness but is a novice about community living. Alfie and Cedar find themselves mutually attracted, but their pasts, positions, and misunderstandings, seem to be barriers in developing a relationship.
Can Alfie find a pathway that allows him to keep tracking toward his longed-for tutorship between the pressure from his mentor, the straitlaced Professor Harris, in whose hands his future lay, and his desire for Cedar? Is Cedar’s position at Oxford at risk? Can both Cedar and Alfie finally learn to begin to mutually trust and accept each other as a team?
I love the characterisations in “Oxford Wild” and the journey through Oxford. And yes, a punt and the Bridge of Sighs make an appearance!
A great read!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun, Romantic Adventure Set at Oxford
I picked this up on a whim after seeing the pretty cover. And I'm glad I did! Following Cedar and Alfie, it's an opposites attract, slightly forbidden romance set at Oxford University. Filled with medieval literature studies and royal scandals, this story was so nerdy, fun, and unique.
Raised off-grid in Canada, Cedar has lived an isolated life with her bear researcher parents. Fumbling through rules and regulations at Oxford, I loved her bold, resilient energy. The pairing with Alfie, Lord Invernay and Junior Thesis Advisor, was so sweet. And funny!
Desperate for a life of predictability, one without the constant shadow of family scandals, Alfie was a stickler with a precious soft side. With Cedar raised in such a detached, unloving manner, it was super heartwarming to see her experience the idea of someone truly caring for her. I absolutely adored these two together.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect tonic for a dreary January
This light, fun read was just what I needed right now. The contrasting personalities and life experiences of the two main characters made for a lot of sparks and interesting tension. And Oxford University felt like a character unto itself. Laura's first hand experience in attending Oxford was evident as she painted a picture of what student life is like there. Learning about the history and bizarre Oxford traditions was interesting, and I appreciated being transported to England as this dreary month unfolds.
I hope there will be more adventures for Cedar and Alfie to come - maybe in the wilds of Canada?

5.0 out of 5 stars First weeks in Oxford
What a fabulous story of two significantly different people required to work with each other. A wild girl from north of Stewart BC Canada, and a stuffy socially- fearful Junior Advisor - a LORD even - clash in misunderstandings over and over. Both have so much to learn from each other. And it was a unique pleasure to follow their journey to love, appreciating each other's strengths without the necessity of perfection. Add in a nasty blackmail to up the tension in their relationship, and I was hooked! I had to stay up to finish this in one go! What an educational romance (teasing!) this story turned out to be. Highly recommended!!
