Pretty Little Threats: A dark enemies to lovers billionaire romance (Princes of NYC Book 1) Kindle Edition
A dark secret. A corrupt marriage. And a beast who might just fall for the beauty.
DARE
Power. Control. Darkness.
I’ve built an empire with those three things, and I’ll destroy anyone who tries to threaten it.
When Rose Miller’s father announces her arranged marriage to a man far worse than me, I step in. She needs my protection. But she doesn’t know the price of my help.
We share a secret, one that could ruin us both. A crime that ties us together in ways she doesn’t understand.
I’ll marry her, keep her safe, but make no mistake, she won’t just be my wife. She’ll be mine, body and soul.
ROSE
I’ve spent my life following every rule my father set. But when he tries to give me to a monster, I realize I’ve been trapped in a gilded cage.
Dare Richardson might be the only one who can protect me, but he's ruthless. A dangerous beast I’ve always despised.
The truth is, we’re both running from something darker than either of us, and when he offers me a way out, I can’t help but accept.
The man I once swore to hate is now my husband.
And the beast within him? He’s the only one who can set me free.
This is a dark contemporary MF romance. It is the first standalone in the Princes of NYC series.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2025This was so good! I was living for Rose and Dare together! Rose is a strong, but also cold FMC controlled by her father, while Dare is a tough, morally grey MMC who runs a powerful empire. They end up getting married due to blackmailing, and what follows is full of intense chemistry and unexpected twists.
Rose struggles to balance her loyalty to her father with her need to break free and find her own path. Dare is the kind of guy who might seem like a “beast” on the outside, but underneath, he’s protective and deeply passionate about Rose and I was LOVING it. Their relationship is all about tension, at first, they can’t stand each other, but things quickly heat up, and they start to get to know each other better.
I loved the banter between Dare and Rose throughout the book, it was sooo good! The suspense and the hidden secrets keep things interesting, too. If you like dark romance that's intense, steamy, and with some suspense, this one is definitely for you!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2025Dare and Rose—what a powerful duo. Their hatred for each other was built on false pretenses, never taking the time to truly know one another before forming opinions. But once they did, their dynamic was electric.
I loved the push and pull between them. Dare had a heart of gold beneath his tough exterior. He was so young when his world fell apart, yet he took on the responsibility of protecting his sisters at all costs. Rose, on the other hand, was a strong FMC, but it was clear her father had manipulated her from a young age. At times, I wanted to shake her for how easily she let him sway her decisions.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read with complex characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2025This book did NOT disappoint!! Lots of twists and turns, betrayal and angst, hate and love. It’s got it all.
Dare and Rose are chef’s kiss.. their back and forth banter is amazing, as is their hard fought HEA.
Can’t wait for the next book in the series. 🥰
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2025Loved the MMC and story kept my interest. The only thing I didn’t not like was the constant referrals to the MFC’s size and shape. It seemed a little overkill to keep referring to her thick thighs and or soft stomach. Mentioning it once, explaining how comfortable she was with her body and how much the MMC loved it was enough. I also felt that the FMC was a little immature at times. The comeback of “I hate you” is a bit silly after so many times.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2025Pretty Little Threats was I don’t really know what to say. It was a great read, kept me hooked from the beginning. I love Dare and Rose. These two hate each other thanks to one person. But will secrets come out and they turn that hate to love? Go one click because if you love dark romance this one is for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2025There's so many great things about this book. I absolutely loved both the fmc and mmc. Dare gives the mine, touch them and cease to exist vibes, so super swoony. Rose is set out to prove Dare is the beast everyone claims he is, but their tension is off the charts.
This one has some dark elements, but it was super, super dark. I love the absolute hate to love that these two experience. Nothing is quite as it seems in the world that Rose and Dare grew up in and still live in. These two have been through a lot and the deserve their HEA. There's also a lot of side characters that I can't wait to see their stories, especially Crue, he's going to a wild one to tame...
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2025This one was almost a DNF but I stuck with it and it got better around 30%. The first third of the book is a LOT of really unnecessary detail and descriptions. It was hard to get through. We need to know that the FMC is dressed up and has her hair and makeup done, but you probably don’t need to spend a page and a half describing it.
But having read the books by this author under their other pen name, and knowing that I liked them, I kept going. And around 30% the story got so much better. There are still some spots where it could’ve been trimmed down but overall I enjoyed the storyline and the relationship between the characters.
So if you’re on the fence about this one, give it a little time before you DNF.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2025I liked this book. The whole enemies to lovers is one of my favorites. I only wish she was stronger when it came to her dad. She clearly seen how Dare treated her & how vastly different her dad had. He broke his promise, he gave Eric her house codes & she found out her dad had secrets. It seemed pretty obvious. What more did she need? Though I did enjoy that he waited for her to see it for herself. He knew she wouldn't have believed him but what I don't understand why he couldn't have hired someone to look into her dad? He had connections & money, how could he have not find out? Those are the only things holding me back from giving it a full 5. Truthfully it deserves 4.5. I would still recommend wholeheartedly. On to the next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great banter
After reading the book description, I knew I had to give this one a shot. It turned out to be quite amusing, though I wouldn’t classify it as a dark romance. Some readers might see it that way, but to me, it felt more like a romance with the occasional dark moment. That said, it’s not exactly a forced marriage either—more like a little blackmail thrown in. Still, I really enjoyed the banter between the two main characters.
One of the things I appreciated about the FMC is that she isn’t just some sheltered daughter of a powerful man—she’s actively involved in the company and has made a real impact through her work, even if he never gives her the credit she deserves (which seems to be the usual in stories like this).
The Beast is more of a misunderstood man with a tough exterior he exudes in order to protect his family. The back-and-forth between them and the slow burn as they open up and fall for each other was one of my favorite parts. There’s definitely a fair amount of steam, and that same witty banter carries over into those scenes as well, which was really well done.
The author also did a great job introducing the characters for the next book in the series. I’m definitely curious to see what happens next—especially with Cassia, since I really liked her character and it looks like her book is next.
