Pampered Pet of the Alpha King (Pets of the Danzaith Book 1) Kindle Edition

3.8 out of 5 stars 189 ratings

Thomas Addison feared becoming a pet of the aliens who had taken over Earth. While hiding out with his mother, he found an injured alien and couldn’t leave him to die. Taking him home with him was one of the scariest things he had ever done, but leaving someone, even an alien, to die in the dirt wasn’t something he felt he could do.

Kalon had been set on by his own kind. Betrayed and alone, the last thing he expected was to be saved by a human male, especially when the only reason he was on the planet was to try and undo some of the damage his people had done. Meeting Tom and his mother brought home the importance of what he was trying to do, but the meeting also brought with it other complications. Mating complications.

Can these two stop the pet trade and rescue the humans that have gone missing? Will those who want to keep their illegal pets and other gains prevent them from enjoying their happy ever after?

I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. I still remember one of the first books I read, it was the Bobbsey Twins. As I got older, I moved into the more interesting books, but some of the typo’s made me nuts! So, after contacting writers I started a career of where I began content editing (I am no good with grammar), beta reading and brainstorming. After being harassed for a couple of years by some of the writers, I gave in and have now begun to write.

I live in central Canada with my hubby of over 25 years, 4 kids, and 5 grandkids. We have a collection of pets, including our guard cat. I love nothing more than curling up with a good book (much to hubby's frustration), or my laptop to work on the next thing that catches the muse.

I would love to hear from readers, you can find me at https://authordanigray.blogspot.ca/

I truly enjoyed reading this story. Both of the MC's seemed to be well thought out and quite emotional within their passionate beliefs. In this story you find love between two completely opposite beings. One, that in the beginning is a slow burn, but soon picks up quite a good bit of steam. Honestly, I think the only bad thing I'd have to say about this was that it ended to soon. Would have loved to see how their lives carried on within the future. Hopefully there will be a second book, and soon! Great story!

The plot and ideas for the story were solid, the execution was not up to par. It was hard to read due to the writing. I finished it because I was interested in knowing how it ended.

This is a sci-fi book with patched together sci-fi elements. What do the aliens look like? Dunno. How do they reproduce amongst themselves? Dunno that either. Their culture is basically just earth culture and the similarities are just shrugged off.
Absolutely nothing in the book is shown, it's just explained to you in endless exposition. And yet somehow i don't know anything personal about the main characters. The grammar and typos get worse as the book progresses, so that doesn't help either.
Bottom line: this book is basic.

This is prime example of cliché plot with no meat or anything interesting to pull you in. The premise is interesting but everything was resolved extremely fast with no stakes or consequences. It was like reading a book with just bullet notes of what the author wanted to have happen and nothing to explain what happens between. The couple was insta-love and the human immediately goes along with whatever is happening and only has about 5 seconds of "What if?" You never got to the point where you're worried about the characters because whatever it was, was over the very next page. Honestly, can't believe I paid for this when it feels like something off Wattpad.

I loved the premise of the story but felt it didn't live up to its full potential. There were grammatical errors that distracted from the story and it felt rushed and didn't flow well in places.

I would say this book was a little more than easy. Probably convenient? There's was little to no conflict, and even if there was, it's resolved right off the next two or three chapters. I would have appreciated this to be a little longer and help me feel like I was in the characters's shoes, but the plot felt too convenient to have any of that. This book was unremarkable, and good if you'd just like to pass some time. Otherwise, it's a little underwhelming and unremarkable.

. I felt like I was reading a 7th grade paper with barely developed characters and lack of any cohesive plot. I don’t understand why writers do not use beta readers to give worthwhile feedback before publishing. Unfortunately I bought the group of books and most likely will not finish the series.

The author shows some imagination. However, the author needs to take a couple of writing classes. The characters aren't very developed, nor is the plot. As one reviewer said, it really is just an outline. Grammatical errors and creative use of commas...

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad read
Reviewed in Germany on October 12, 2021
The basic idea of the story wasn't bad at all, and so was like the first 20 % of the book.
The everything got hurried along without live or character growth. It was just: you are mated now... And nobody had a problem with it.
The whole cousin problem got solved in a few pages and then some passive describing how they saved earth.
Another boring sex scene after the wedding and bam! He is pregnant...
This was very boring, unengaging and hurried along like the author was bored by 90% of the story themself.

I was so pleased to find that the original short story had been expanded into a book, the main characters, Tom and Kalon, were likable and good together. what i loved was that the story had a bit of angst but not over done, which in this moment in time Dani produced a story that was able to take us on a journey of love, this is a story that i will certainly enjoy rereading again and again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing alien world with an awesome love story!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 28, 2020
I loved this! I recall reading the original shorter version and was really glad to see that it had been expanded into a longer book. I’m hopeful that this could be the start to new alien/mates/mpreg series! This is definitely an insta-love story, but that’s exactly the kind of sweet, fluffy kind of live story I want. There’s still action, but it’s so nice to be able to see people happy together when the world is not exactly a peaceful place right now.

I liked the world building in this. There was enough so that you understood what was happening but also so much more that could be explored. It was nice to see that the form the aliens shifted into was something a bit different and I think played well into the idea of an ancient alien civilisation.

My only complaint would be the ending felt a tiny bit rushed (which was what dropped it to a 5 star). Don’t get me wrong though, I still loved the story and would very happily read a whole series!

If you like fantasy sci fi with little to no angst, this is a good book for you. Good escapism
