Paper Lipstick Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 30 ratings

Lipstick kisses and caviar dreams don’t have a place in my life or his.
~ Max (Rebecca Robbins)
I'm a bad ass bitch. It's a truth of mine. I live it and breathe that shit. No, I'm not conceited or full of myself. It's just something I've discovered over the years.
I'm damn good by myself, always have been, always will. What I didn't know is I can be improved upon.
Enter the equally bad ass and hella charismatic Deckard Camden. Who, the hell, told him to be this jaw-droppingly gorgeous, mountain of a man, in comparison to my little self, projecting a wall of defense that rivals my own?
Nobody prepared me for the sensual words that would fall from his lips or the massive ... peace he would bring to my life.
Damn sure didn't get me ready to be Deckard Camden's wife … wait, what?

OMG, I am beyond in love with Deck and Max! I can't even begin to tell you how good this book is! Deck comes back to Atlanta after being away for a while and immediately seeks out Max, who is the owner of Inked to the Max. He's wanted her since before he left and he's not going to take no for an answer! Of course Mac doesn't really want to say no, no matter why he is there. As things heat up with them trouble brews in the background and they have a lot of conflict in the rest of their lives. How do Deck and Max cope with all of this during their budding relationship? Well, I guess you should read to find out! Excellent book and I'm adding them all to my harem! Deck is definitely a great addition, he doesn't play nice much, but he's a great addition! I can't wait until the next one from Kelsey!!

I am giving this book 3 stars which I think is very generous.

The characters are meant to be adults but come across as adolescent teenagers.
Their personalities throughout the book are inconsistent and the dialogue does not fit the characters.

There was no depth to the characters, and their relationship had no chemistry. Every character in the book is obsessed with sex. Almost every conversation contains something about sex.

Max and Deck's relationship is unrealistic in how quickly they got together considering they have no genuine conversations.
For example, Deck plans a dream date for Max... they go and she is excited but because he planned something amazing she wants to leave to have sex and complains when that can't happen. Another time they are hanging out with friends and she kicks them out to have sex.

There is a lot in the book that is pointless and does not enhance the book

The plot to the story is very thin and overall I found the book boring. I could have easily DNF this book but I pushed through hoping it would get better. It didn't.

    3.5 Stars

This is my first read by Kelsey Elise Sparrow. I found this book on Facebook, the cover caught my eye, I read the blurb and thought it was something I'd enjoy.

First of all, I loved Max. She was fiesty-(it's the natural red head in her, I'm sure) as described she was badass and the banter between Max and Decker was my favorite part of the entire book. I loved the chemistry between them, it was hot and very sweet at the same time. Decker was definitely book boyfriend material. He was super protective and funny, two qualities most women can appreciate.

The reason I'm giving this book 3.5 Stars is because the grammatical errors were really bad. I found that words were missing and misspelled, it was just to many to look over.

"Paper Lipstick" is the first book in the series, Inked to the Max. The cover was the first thing that caught my attention. The description sealed the deal. Anything with tattoos and female artists is something I always want to read. That being said, with "Paper Lipstick" I had to put this down and come back to it later. The cursing and vulgarity in this book was a little much. I’m all for expressing yourself but Max and Deck take it a little too far. I felt like every other sentence was full of it and the first run through I had to stop because I felt it took away from the story. When I came back and read it again I knew what to expect so it was easier for me to get through the book.

I love how unapologetic Max aka Rebecca Robbins is. She takes no prisoners and just let’s the world know this is her. She had me feeling so many emotions it wasn’t even funny. I liked that in certain situations I could connect with her. The people she surrounds herself with are interesting but you better be careful when you enter her shop on game day. She ain’t afraid to do some damage.

Deck’s role in this whole situation was interesting too. His dad cracks me up and doesn't play. Deck is very protective of the people he loves and I enjoyed the name he coined for Bliss. From the first moment he stepped into her shop the game was afoot. I loved every second of them and the journey they went through. Some things were hard but they were tough as nails and I loved the support they gave each other.

I love how the author put in deleted scenes at the end. It gives you more insight into certain things that went on and gave more information. This is the first author I’ve come across who has done this and I loved it. (Night Owl Romance voluntarily reviewed a reviewer copy.)

I enjoyed this story. Deck and Max were made for each other, their attraction was strong, they were drawn to each other. The chemistry that was between them was sexy, they were good together.

I really enjoyed this book and Deckhard Camden is one of the hottest book heroes I've read about in a long time. I really really really enjoyed him and this story.
