Patient 247: Cinnamon Roll Saviors Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 18 ratings

It took almost dying for me to find something worth living for.

Being disabled was hard enough, but being overweight and disabled? It was a nightmare. Especially when my disability was making one of my legs blow up like a balloon while doctors just ranted at me about losing weight.

I was homebound, writing romance novels just to have something to break up the monotony, and had exactly two friends who cared enough to check in on me.

And then I ended up in the hospital, flagging for sepsis with not one, but
two serious infections.

Enter Lennon. Amidst all the agony and humiliation, my gorgeous, goofy, and kindhearted night nurse was like a bright light, guiding me back from the brink.

I kept telling myself not to fall. That the connection I felt with him was nothing more than my desperation for human contact. But the more I got to know him, the more I let myself hope for something that seemed impossible.

Was I deluding myself, or had this romance novelist finally found her own happily ever after?

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Carmen Richter is an old soul. Her words are like theater, masterfully spun to bring all the feels, interspersed with music that makes your heart soar. She needs her coffee to make the words flow, and some of her best writing is done in a caffeine-induced haze at one in the morning with a soundtrack that ranges from jazz standards to rock to show tunes and everything in between. When she's not writing, she loves going to live concerts and especially live theater, or just staying in and binging Criminal Minds or Law and Order: SVU for the zillionth time.

Carmen lives in Kansas City with her boyfriend, Brett, and their two fur babies, a bunny named Marty and a cat named Mal. In addition to writing, she also has two branches of a business that aims to provide quality services to independent authors at a reasonable price. CPR Editing deals with everything inside your book: editing, proofreading, and interior formatting. CPR Designs deals with, well, design: logos and branding, social media graphics, covers, and teasers.

Carmen loves interacting with her fans and will happily respond to all messages personally until she gets uber famous and gets a ton of them. Hey, a girl can dream, right?

Carmen Richter has written a fabulous story!
Patient 247 is an endearing love story for the ages. It's a don't give up on love story and it stole my heart.
Carmen's characters are so well written they had me laughing with them crying with them and hoping for them.
This is a feel good book and I recommend it for everyone.

A little hope and some hotness mixed in to help this girl get back on her feet. Little did she know she was gonna get so much more than what she expected

Patient 247 hit all the emotions. Carmen Richter put her soul into these 200 pages, and I devoured it in just a few hours. I am a chronically ill, legally disabled, morbidly obese woman myself, so Hope's story mirrored my own. It is real and raw with the best possible outcome. I ached. I empathized. I raged in anger. I cried. I laughed. I smiled. I loved it. It was short compared to many things that I read, but there was so much packed into those pages that it didn't seem that way. It was an easy read that I could rave about for days.

I always love when an author takes a challenging approach to a book, and writing about disabilities definitely qualifies. Being able to properly display a disability on paper and not make it the characters entire personality is a feat that should be celebrated, especially because it brings awareness and empathy to the people those disabilities affect. I loved that our characters where able to understand and adapt to the challenges that they face, challenges that so many real life people struggle with when it comes to seeing their own value. Thank you for tackling this and delivering a beautiful love story!

Carmen has no chill in this book. Please read the trigger warnings if you are more sensitive dear friends. Some of the themes are very hard to read and sometimes I had to take a moment to process. Because I could be the main character. I find it refreshing and somewhat terrifying that she has managed to take a little talked about area, medical discrimination and bias, and turn it into not only a romance, but an exploration to some of the "secrets" and "shameful" parts of the medical community.
I love the real feel of this book. As the author states it is largely based on some personal experiences. I wept for her. I felt her shame and frustration and hopelessness. Hope's journey in some ways mirrors my own as I too live with a chronic illness. Becoming fully disabled and dependent on a biased care system is one of my true fears. And boy did I have to face the ugly truth with this story.
Lennon and April were amazing characters.
I loved Lennon's own struggles. The author is really good in this book at diving in to the minds of her characters. I found it beautiful that in the midst of all she was enduring, she was looking out for others. Such a beautiful and painful story. True representation of all types belong in romance. Thank you for being brave and sharing this story.

Admittedly this was my first book by this author I was impressed. This absolutely broke my heart, nobody should be treated like that. I was brought up to respect everyone I can't begin to imagine what it was like for her or the character. This was beautifully written and I highly recommend it.

This book starts out intense with the main character dealing with severe physical pain due to a health condition. While at the hospital the love story starts up. I really enjoyed this read. It was ooey-gooey sweet but had enough heart and action to keep it exciting. If you're into Hallmark happy endings I highly recommend it!
