    PEBBLES IN THE GRASS
    BY: SRIVALLI REKHA

I really loved each short story featured in the collection called, "Pebbles in the Grass," by the talented wordsmith Srivalli Rekha. The prose and precision of each word made me feel like I was reading poetry. The short stories are imbued with imagery, so they gave me a visual picture in my mind of the natural subjects featured in each one of them. Anybody that loves beautiful writing with a heavy theme featuring the natural world will enjoy this collection filled with 38 brilliant stories. They are distinct and are sprinkled with passion with a love of humanity. Some of the stories are tiny in length, while others that are longer seemed to me to be perfectly executed in the narrative. I highly, highly recommend this fascinating compilation filled with stunning ideas developed in each offering. I couldn't pick a favorite because as I savored each one, and as I read on I found them all to be quite intoxicating!

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting read
Reviewed in India on June 15, 2021
The first story itself got me hooked and then there was no turning back until I had savoured the last one.
These are short stories; 1 pager stories or stories under 300-400 words. There are stories where authors ramble on, and then there are these short stories which despite their brevity pack a punch.
The titles are eye catching and have a dreamy old world charm - Garden Quilt, A Box of Music, The Magic of Solstice, you get the drift.
My favourite stories are The Lady in the Old House (an old lady who is misunderstood and feared is not at all what people think about her), Lazy Bloom (a story about a rose bud that doesn't want to bloom) and The Sugar Cube (a story from the POV of an ant). I like the fact that the protagonists of the stories are not always human.
Pick up this book for an uplifting read; under 30 minutes (because that's the amount of time you need to finish the book in one sitting), you will be transported to a more benign world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tales that are wonderfully crafted and full of heart.
Reviewed in India on June 8, 2021
This e-book contains delightful short tales that one can relate to and are a perfect mix of emotions. From the humorous letter penned to the 'guardian angel' by a disgruntled human, to the spooky grandfather's clock in 'Tick Tock,' an emotional and dramatic twist in the 'Dreamcatcher,' a happy end to the 'Library' filled with books, a kind hearted 'lady in the old house' who reaches out to the talented, destitute child; to a rose that blooms when accosted by the love of a young one, are some personal favourites that touched my heart. The collection has been aptly titled "Pebbles in the grass.' It is a subtle riot of thoughts, feelings and situations that crisscross through and evoke that familiar sense of déjà vu. Keep honing that pen of yours, purple faeirie. This one rocked! 👍

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful collection!

These bite-sized stories go perfectly with evening tea. It’s like taking the time to smell the rose in a garden, run behind the vibrant butterfly. You don’t need to know the characters; you just enjoy the fleeting stories they tell you like meeting an interesting person on a train and striking a conversation with them. And being a part of their loves for a while. And years later, thinking about them and wondering what became of them, wishing them well wherever they are. The flash fiction collection reminds you of how ephemeral life is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent micro stories
Reviewed in India on July 20, 2021
What is better than short stories? Micro stories! These are tiny stories from all walks of life. The author has written many stories from a different point of view and in my humble opinion, it makes the book a lot better.
