    I think you could almost use this in a high school class! The two characters are as sweet as the title suggests. The two find each other by a common interest in baking. The willingness to help each other with their baking brings them together romantically, but you never really hear or feel the steam. Like a movie from the 40’s, you can guess but you never see… fade to black. Actually, it was refreshing and I enjoyed meeting these two characters. Good read!

    I took a star away bc the entire plot felt 2 dimensional. There was no emotional growth or complexity to the relationship. I didn’t feel like I knew the characters any better by the end of the book.

    The one “change” was when Randy realizes he’s misunderstood Eli for years and feels bad about it….then proceeds to repeat that through the entire book.

    Heat level 0.2/5 and only bc there were a couple of kisses and like 2 make out sessions. Oh and 1 sentence at the end of the book saying how one of the MC’s liked to take charge in the bedroom.

    I’m not someone who has to have sex in my romance to enjoy the romance but then you’d better give me all the feels! I’m talking hugging, cuddling, twiterpatted lovey dovey stuff. That did not happen in this book which is why I took another star away.

    It also felt disjointed. They went from “rivals” in Randy’s opinion to Eli asking if Randy was single to them walking home together and then Randy asking Eli not to break his heart…all in the course of maybe 30 minutes?

    Further along in the story Randy implies via text that Eli is his boyfriend and Eli gets thrilled by this but plays it chill. Then a chapter or 2 later the decide to be boyfriends and I’m like, “but I thought you already agreed on that???”

    I didn’t take anymore stars away bc IF you ignore all that it was a low-angst “safe” read that can be useful from time to time but I don’t know that I’ll read more from this author.

    I read this ebook last year and really loved it. I personally don't like this narrator after listening to him narrate another B.L. Maxwell book... but I wanted to hear the story I enjoyed so much narrated. I'd previously said I didn't like the inflections in Guy's voice while narrating, and there is a slowness to his speech. I tried speeding it up to 1.3 (I've never tried speeding up the audio before) and it was so much better and easier to listen to. I couldn't hear the inflections so much and of course it wasn't as slow. After that, I was able to enjoy listening to it. Since I see Guy Veryzer will be narrating more of Maxwell's books, I'll speed it up so I can get through them.

    I loved this book. It was such a sweet romance- in more ways than one. Eli and Randy were perfect for each other. I loved how Eli's kind and caring personality won Randy over when Randy had just considered him competition. Eli was so much more than he'd thought and they had so much in common to bond over. I love romances that involve baking- there is just this appeal that immediately draws me in. I couldn't get enough of these two men. They were sweet and romantic and I couldn't wait for their happy ending- it was so sweet I couldn't hide my smile. 5 stars.

    Wasnt great but wasnt bad :)

    Its a cute read with no real drama. Eli and Randy just seemed a bit flat and boring to me. We didnt really get any character growth. As the characters were so similar i sometimes had to check who was actually 'talking' :)

    Also a few inconsistencies in the storyline that threw me out of reading.

    Full of sweet cuteness, a slow-burn romance with lots of baking and cookies.

    Randy and Eli have known each other since they were kids, and the families are firm friends. However, Randy comes across as grumpy and very OCD, while Eli is all sunshine and will help anyone.

    The story is a slow burn, but it's full of sweetness. There is no onscreen bedroom activity, which actually makes a change in these books. It's implied, but that's all.

    All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Well worth a read. I read in KU.
