About the author

Danielle Ramsay is the Scottish author of ten novels. The latest four are standalone psychological thrillers; the first was The Perfect Husband, followed by My Best Friend's Secret. The third standalone is the psychological suspense, The Other Wife, perfect for Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca fans. The fourth, Taken, is released November 25th and is a tense, psychological thriller: Alice's baby disappears on a passenger ferry, and she has hours before the ferry docks in Spain to find him alive and disprove the authority's suspicions that she has murdered him.
Before writing psychological thrillers, Danielle wrote police procedurals. Her debut, Broken Silence, was chosen for a Northern Writers' Award. It was the first in five DI Jack Brady crime novels set in a small seaside resort in the North East of England. Her sixth police procedural was The Last Cut, a dark thriller with DS Harri Jacobs.
Always a storyteller, it was only after first wanting to be a filmmaker and completing a Degree in Media Production, then changing to an academic career in literature, where she found her place in life and began to write creatively full-time.
Danielle spends her time writing, wild water swimming, running, and beach walks with her Westie. She is also the Patron of the charity SomeOne Cares, a cause close to her heart, which counsels survivors of domestic violence, rape and child abuse.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchasePage turner from beginning to end. The lead character was quite complex. Open ending without the neat fairytale bow. It ended as mysteriously as it began.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2024Format: KindleIt was a little predictable but still held my interest especially at the end. I would recommend reading it. I have had a traumatic brain injury and it helped me understand a little of my own issues.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe actual story was good but it was easy to figure out from the beginning. It could have been half as long.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2025Format: KindleI’ve read many psychological thrillers - but this one really kept me on my toes throughout the entire book. Lord James Langston was helping his wife recover from a horrific accident at the family castle. She required serious medical attention for many months. However, Mrs, Langston, as she wished to be called, couldn’t remember even being married to this man. Her memory was definitely not back s she had hoped. She couldn’t even remember the day or the month or her husband’s name without help. She assumed that he had been married before to Isabella Langston. She even found a few diary pages that had been written, and wondered what happened to the first wife. Did he kill the first wife to get rid of her, before marrying her? Was he trying to kill her too? Why wouldn’t anyone believe her? What could she do to stay alive? The plot was definitely genius and the character development was definitely on point. You don’t want to miss out on reading this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2025Format: KindleIt was frustrating to read the dangling parts of the main character not remembering anything then to learn that she was actually the person she was jealous of… this wasn’t a psychological thriller, it was more of a mental game played with unruly playmates.
The author may have spent too much time adding main character delusional self talk. I started asking myself: was there a word limit to meet?
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book was difficult to get through. I kept having to skim thru it. I am so sorry. I just don't like to start a book without finishing it.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2024Format: KindleI really was hoping for a different outcome, but it had me gripping through the pages… hope never dies! Great work!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI had figured out the twist very early on (spoiler ahead) when she started always saying he killed his wife and when she talked to the police officers and referred to his wife never once said Isabella I knew she was Isabella. After that it was a lot of redundancy. I did finish the book, but skimmed through a lot of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Purely Surprising Ending.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe author keeps you mesmerized in the story, cheering for the heroine against all her antagonists. The research on memory loss and behaviors often exhibited after trauma is evident. Danielle Ramsey is a very talented writer.
