No one expects to have to fight for their life.

But for Katy Ketcher, that nightmare is about to become reality. She’s sixteen years old, and the daughter of a wealthy Hollywood producer. She’s the perfect victim.

Now, Katy and her best friend Jill must use their wits and cunning in a desperate battle for survival against four dangerous criminals. As events spiral out of control, will their friendship be enough to survive the ensuing bloodbath?

The Perfect Victim is the latest violent thriller from David Sodergren, author of The Forgotten Island and Maggie’s Grave.

David Sodergren lives in Scotland with his wife Heather and his best friend, Boris the Pug.

His best known books include the gory and romantic fairy tale The Haar, the blood-drenched folk-horror Maggie’s Grave, and the analog-horror fever dream Rotten Tommy. David also writes under the pseudonym Carl John Lee, publishing splatterpunk

The Perfect Victim is a kidnapping and revenge story that captured my heart and broke it at the same time. The book was both intense and shockingly funny and I found it impossible to put down. The tonal shift from light-hearted funny moments to dread-inducing horror made me gasp.

I loved the dialogue between the characters, especially the friendly banter between Katy and Jill. Katy could be very unserious at the worst of times, out of touch with reality, and that aspect made her a convincing character being the teenage daughter of a rich Hollywood producer. She is a charming lead character and how the story plays out was deeply satisfying.

David Sodergren’s books are always exciting and just plain fun, and I find myself clawing to pick them back up every chance I get. This is my second Sodergren book and he truly doesn’t miss, it’s easy to see why he’s become an indie darling. He’s quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

The Perfect Victim is an awesome hostage thriller that you can't put down. It's a must read! David is known for his horror novels, but fans of his will be just as delighted with this. It's bloody and grim and a damn fine story. Check it out!

I started reading this book just last night after finishing 'Summer of the monsters' the day before. This book, like the rest of David Sodergren's works, kept me hooked on to it. I couldn't put it down & had to finish it to calm my curiosity of what happens in the end. David's horror novels have a unique mystery touch to them, they keep you guessing and wanting more at the same time. Katy's resilience & unwavering strength in the face of such adversity was remarkable and saved her life. 'Be the pug' phrase kept her going. It's funny how sometimes random phrases in life keep us going and yield strength in times of great need. Thanks david, for this edge of the seat thriller.

Just WOW… bought this book Nov last year, never got a chance to read it, until 3 days ago! I am addicted to David’s books! 6th book completed and the next one lined up already. Amazing author, attention to detail is second to none, the story, although it starts off as predictable, the twists in the plot never fail to impress me. I would very highly recommend reading this book. The simplicity of the idea for the book to the actual story is amazing! Keep writing as I need to keep reading :) thank you
