An all-new stand-alone from New York Times best-selling author Julia Kent

One hundred years ago when I was young and impulsive (okay, it was five, alright? Five years ago...) I let my boyfriend take, let's just say...compromising pictures of me.

(Shut up. It made sense at the time.)

Surprise! The sleazy back-stabbing jerk posted them on a website and, well, you can guess what happened. That’s right.

I’m a meme. A really gross one.

You've seen the pictures. And if you haven't - don’t ask. And don't look!

As face recognition software online improves, I get tagged on social media whenever anyone shares my pictures. You try getting a thousand notifications a day, all of them pictures of your tatas.

So. I’m done.

It’s time for revenge. Let him see how it feels! But how do you get embarrassingly intimate pictures of your jerkface ex who double-crossed you five years ago?

Especially when he’s a member of the US House of Representatives now?

Getting sweet between the sheets with a congressman is pretty much every political roadie’s dream, right? I’m one in a crowd.

Except to this day, he swears he didn’t do it. Pursued me for months after I dumped him five years ago. Begged me to take him back.

And I almost did it. Almost. I was weak and stupid and in love a hundred years ago.

Okay. Fine. Five.

But I still have the upper hand. Second chance romance has all the emotional feels, doesn’t it?

I can’t wait to punch him in the feels.

All I need to do is sleep with him once, take some hot-and-sweaty pics of him in...delicate positions, and bring him down. That’s it. Nothing more.

Pictures first. Revenge after. And then I win.

At least, that’s how it was supposed to happen. But then I did something worse than sexting.

I fell in love with him. Again.

A laugh-out-loud funny, sweet and sexy second chance romance
I've been waiting to get my hands on Perky since I fell in love with Fluffy a couple months ago. I was hoping for more of the humor, heart and heat I found with the first book. And you know what? That's exactly what Perky gave me. But this time it was wrapped up in a super complicated second chance romance that I just couldn't get enough of. It was totally addicting. While I'm all about the second chance romances, I'll be the first to admit I was totally side-eyeing Parker in the beginning. No wonder, considering he allegedly posted a naked photo of Perky online. Not very swoony boyfriend material, right? Well, yes and no. His insistence that he had nothing to do with it, as well as his very obvious devotion to Persephone (Perky) basically made me question everything. I suspected he just might be telling the truth, so I was cautiously optimistic. And man, was he ever swoony when we got right down to it. I was Team Perky from the very beginning. Hell, before that even. I adored her in Fluffy and I was thrilled to learn she would get a book of her own. She exceeded all my expectations in her own book, too. Not everyone could go through what she did — no matter who was ultimately responsible — and come out as strong as she did. I understood her skepticism when it came to Parker, but also got why she had a hard time staying away. Their chemistry was fierce and their connection so very real. Perky, the book, was an absolute joy to read. I absolutely lost track of how many times I quite literally laughed out loud while reading it. I thoroughly enjoy Julia Kent's brand of humor. This book made me giggle, but it also gave me all the swoons and feels. If you're looking for heat, you'll find that here, too. It was the perfect combination of all the things I want in a romance. And I can't wait for the third book. I need me some Feisty ASAP.

What happens when the man you love betrays you in the worst of ways? Perky (or Persephone as she was when we first met her in Fluffy) is quirky...but in the best of ways. She is Mallory's best friend (along with Fiona) but she has her issues. Mainly being the butt of a joke that wasn't a joke. Despite everything she has done in the last 5 years to erase the pain, it is constantly with her and the meme that started it all still floats around in some people's minds. Never does she expect to run into the man who caused all that pain. But one thing is clear, she has nothing but revenge on her mind. The banter between Perky and Parker is always fun and the chemistry between them is so very clear, but how can you forgive? How can you forget? While always fun to read the banter, the wild, off the wall facts (yes google was my friend quite a bit in this story lol), there was a whole lot of depth in this story. Can you ever love again when you know you found the one you were truly meant for? The right for privacy in such a large social media world? Does that even exist in this day and age? Perky must learn to forgive and she must learn to use her power for good. Will she? But I will forever remember the video of the spider and that will have me gasping with laughter...and cringing because....well you will just have to read it to know what I'm talking about. And for the record, Will reinforces why he will forever be my Julia Kent book boyfriend :)

I'm not sure why it surprised me that Julia Kent could intrigue me with a completely new series. After all, she as done it over and over again. It's the quirky characters that suck me in every time. This series was no exception. Set in a relatively small town, these stories, with outrageous elements, are relatable. Years ago, I could have been friends with Perky, Mal & Feisty.

This second book in the series tells Perky (Persephone) and Parker's story. She abruptly broke things off 5 years prior because of the worst type of betrayal. He just wants a chance to defend himself. He gets the opportunity when invited to participate in the pre-wedding festivities of Perky's best friend Mal. Sparks fly and hilarity ensues. Though it's pretty obvious who the bad guy(s) is early on, the story is entertaining to the end.

This new world Ms. Kent has created is definitely worth experiencing. It's at times, laugh-out-loud funny, and at others, angst-ridden. Now, as always, I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in a Julia Kent series.

This is a cute, and sometimes funny, romance. I was looking forward to reading it, after reading the 1st one in the series. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded down to 3 stars.

I enjoyed it, but not as much as usual for one of Julia's books. Her books are usually hysterical, and often make me burst out laughing (my husband looks at me like I'm nuts when I do that!), but this one got a little silly at times. So much was going on in Perky's head, and sometimes it was just a bit too silly for me.

I understood why Perky thought Parker was to blame for what happened, but she should have at least been willing to listen when he tried to explain that he wasn't. It was weird that she hated him, but still loved him and wanted to have sex with him. I had a big problem with how easily Parker forgave the culprit, though -- what she did was awful, and almost ruined two people's lives.

One thing I was surprised about: In the 1st book, Mallory is likable. But in this one, she has become a terrible bridezilla. As far as I am concerned, there is no excuse for that, and it made me not like her very much anymore.

    My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Perky and Parker are adorable. Like they can't help their attraction and love though Perky is trying really hard not to cave in (or maybe not that much lol). I loved them together and the fact that their story starts exactly as the first book ends, it's like having just one biiig book!

Wow. Julia Kent has done it again. I know all my Julia Kent reviews start this way but I have no other choice. She is by far one of the best authors I read.
The sass and snark that comes off the page has me hooked. I love the character interactions, story arc and pure emotion that flows from the page. Every story had little comments that link back to other series characters, that gives me so much joy to know all these people live in the same universe.
Perky and Parker are the epitome of lost love. An incident 5 years ago sends Perky running and hiding. When Parker turns up to Mallory and Wills wedding rehearsal rehearsal (see Fluffy for that rollercoaster) Perky still cannot forgive. Parker though has had enough of being ignored and as the newly elected, youngest congressman, he can put all his charm to good effect.
I could not put this book down and you are a fool if you do not read it.
That being said, if you read it you will love it. Give snark and love a chance.
    I can't wait for Feisty next 😊

Julia Kent has been one of my favorite authors since I picked up her first of the shopping for..... billionaire series books!
If you want a book to get you past all of life's crazy times, just grab one of hers!
The biggest problem with these reads is you don't want to put them down so you finish them too soon! But not to worry, the second, third and fourth time you read them you enjoy them just as much!

First book ever read by Julia Kent, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It is witty, with fast paced sharp dialogue and endearing, solid characters. It is firstly a romance between Parker and Persephone (Perky) but also shows the deep bonds of sisterhood. I personally, would have liked to have seen first hand (so to speak), the relationship between Parker and Perky, when they first met and were happy and in love, and then have it blow up in their faces (lol) to add more angst and bitterness. A prologue would have been fabulous to set the scene of this story. I understand that the situation was explained in Perky, however this story commenced five years after “the incident” and to me it felt a bit distant from it. As a result, there were times, especially in the beginning that I felt a bit at sea. Though predominantly a light comedic story, *starfish* it also dealt with a serious issue- bullying on social media platforms, and highlighted the humiliation and pain suffered by those involved. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it.
