Pillars of Evil is a gripping, fast-paced thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. J.J. Carson delivers an electrifying story of suspense, danger, and intrigue as Special Agent Charlotte Glass navigates the perilous poppy fields of Afghanistan and the dark web of global corruption.
The action is relentless, with twists and betrayals that had me guessing at every turn. Charlie’s unique blend of intelligence, grit, and archaeological expertise adds depth to her character, making her journey all the more compelling. The vividly depicted landscapes and immersive details of ancient culture and modern crime syndicates made this story feel authentic and captivating.
This was my first read in the series, and I absolutely loved it! The narrative pulled me in from page one, and the combination of historical intrigue and high-stakes action made for a thrilling experience. I’ve already purchased the previous two installments and can’t wait to dive into more of Charlie’s adventures.
If I had one critique, it would be that some of the action sequences felt a bit rushed, leaving me wanting more depth in those moments. However, this didn’t detract from the overall intensity and excitement of the story.
J.J. Carson has crafted a remarkable thriller that blends history, suspense, and a fierce, intelligent heroine. I can’t recommend Pillars of Evil enough—it’s a must-read for fans of action-packed mysteries and archaeological adventures.
