Pining for You : Good with His Hands: Season 2 Kindle Edition
Left high and dry and deeply in debt by a con artist ex, the only way out is a job I swore I’d never do again. Manual labor. It is the opposite of my dream job, plus I don’t want my parents pressuring me to take over their tree farm. But the pay at Pine Ridge Prunery is good, as are the benefits. One of which is hella-sexy arborist Brad Calhoun. We make a good team—in more ways than one—but I plan for this job to be temporary while Brad’s angling to settle in for life. The last thing I need is to depend on another self-employed man for a job.
BradI’ve never believed in love at first sight. Then I met Chloe. What’s not to love about a strong, confident woman who can wield a chain saw with ease? When I discovered she needed a job, I had no hesitation in recommending her for the open position at the tree service where I work. Except I’m stuck with two problems: dating coworkers is against company policy, and Chloe insists we aren’t compatible despite our chemistry. Then why does my heart float whenever she’s around?

About the author

Leah found her happy-ever-after with her college-sweetheart husband, and they have two grown sons and three grandsons. All that testosterone! She loves escaping the ever-multiplying dust bunnies by opening up her laptop to write about sexy heroes and the women who challenge them.
All of Leah's books are personally written, no AI use for her. Readers won't be surprised by cliffhanger endings. She won't kill off main characters, and there's a guaranteed Happy-Ever-After ending.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2024One of the reasons I love Leah Braemel’s books is the characters are so relatable; characters that work hard, don’t expect everything handed to them, and just want to be able to live their life on their own terms. Pining For You features Chloe, she’s divorced and her ex did her dirty and it took help from her parents to clear her name. She retuned back to her home town and has been working as a waitress, but finds out that soon she’ll be unemployed. It also features Brad, a certified arborist who works for a small tree service company and has a heart of gold helping the elderly with jobs around their home. Following a storm, they meet at the residence of an older woman Chloe is checking on for her dad who is a property manager and Brad is there to see about a tree that fell on the property and sparks fly.
Chloe is a bit hesitant about getting involved with Brad because she doesn’t trust easy after what her ex did to her and she realizes he’s 9 years younger than her. However, he’s interested and isn’t worried about the age gap and she decides it doesn’t have to be serious it can just be fun. While she does run when she overhears Brad talking to a friend, they did talk it out and in turn she told him about her past and she was able to help him with a business venture.
These two had serious chemistry, but more than that it was easy to see they were both good people with similar values. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop.
I loved Pining For You; it was well written and held my interest from start to finish.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2024Chloe has come back home heartbroken and running from her troubles. I love that even though she is skittish she still gets out there and works hard and takes care of business and helps her dad and his clients. She still wants to connect with someone. I love that Brad is so family oriented. He loves and supports his sisters. He is kind and caring of his neighbors and friends. I love how patient he is with Chloe and how he makes sure to always consider her feelings. I love Ms. B and her chickens. The story is detailed and draws you into the thick of things easily. The writing is smooth and engaging.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2024This was a cute reverse age gap romance. It was a story with a good flow and a cute storyline. Brad and Chloe had good chemistry and I liked them together.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2024Chloe had been burned by her ex-husband, he went to jail and she was left penniless with a mountain of debt. Her only choice was to head back to her hometown. She helps out her dad and that is where she meets Brad, he the head arborist for Pine Ridge Prunery. The man is hot but she does not want nothing more than a casual thing.
Brad never thought love at first sight was real until he meets Chloe but she does not seem to have the same feelings. That does not stop them from turning up the heat in the bedroom. When he sees she is his new apprentice, how is he supposed to keep things professional.
This is a steamy story about a reverse age gap, they younger man will need to help heal her scars.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2024Very wonderful short story that will put a little romance and pep into your day. I thought that Leah wrote a really good book and the characters fit together well like a puzzle being put together. The ending was romantic and sweet, and I could actually imagine seeing the characters unfold together.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2024These two worked together so well! And that was despite what she thought, about trust, age differences, and wanting to avoid commitments. I really liked how they were cautious, but open, caring but reserved, and communicative but still held things back. They had a maturity to them, while still having human foibles. Having them get their dreams come true, and doing that together, was a wonderful thing to be part of 😊
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2025Boring! Beta Bob simps his way through this extremely boring book. One sided “strong” female gets her way and Beta gives in constantly. I literally sped through the pages and just picked a spot to see if it got any better, it didn’t.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2024Pining for You by Leah Braemel is part of the multi-author Good with His Hands: Season 2 series. This is the first book I have read by the author so I was not sure what to expect. This is a solid story about Chloe and Brad. She is a single mother, her ex did some dirty things to her, and she moved back to her hometown after the divorce. She has been working as a waitress while nursing her broken heart. Brad is an arborist who is known for his big and buff bod but also his heart of gold. They cross paths after a storm and the rainbow comes out in full color between them. But Chloe is hesitant after what she has been through so Brad has to be patient, caring and attentive in order to win her heart.
I enjoyed this book quite a lot. The characters are nicely defined, older, have had some knocks, and the story-line is interesting and enjoyable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Brad and Chloe
It was an OK read. I guess I was expecting it to be smutty. It was not.
Chloe is 43, and Brad is 34. She was not looking for a relationship, just fun.
He liked her. A lot. He decided to take whatever she was willing to give.
A lit of the story revolved around anything and everything but their relationship.
It's a bit boring in all honestly.
