Illegal Contact (Playing for Keeps Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,384 ratings

Tucker: I’ve hated spoiled, cocky Patrick Whitt since the first time I saw him at football camp when we were kids.

Once we made it to the NFL, of course, he landed on the LA Royals, the biggest rivals of my team, the Denver Rush. Everything about him rubs me the wrong way…until one unexpected night, we happen to rub each other the right way, and suddenly I can’t get enough of him.

And Patrick can’t get enough of me either.

I’m his secret, and he’s mine, stealing moments together where he comes undone for me.

There’s more to Patrick than I thought, and now one thing is clear to me.

Despite all of the obstacles in our way, Patrick Whitt is mine.

Whitt: I don’t know what it is about Malik Tucker that gets under my skin, but he irritates the hell out of me. Maybe it’s that he was drafted instead of me to my dream NFL team, the Denver Rush. Or maybe it’s that he’s a force to be reckoned with on the field and adored by fans and his family off the field. He seems to be living the perfect life while I live the perfect lie.

And then we have a chance encounter that changes everything.

We keep it professional on the field, but off the field, there’s all kinds of illegal contact happening between us. Every time we’re together, I’m drawn in deeper, intoxicated by the way Malik makes me feel, the things we do to each other in the bedroom.

At some point, we’re going to have to let go, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to.

"You're locked up tighter than a secret, you know."

“I don’t have secrets,” I grated out because it felt like I didn’t, not with him, and definitely not in this position. The guy could see straight into my desires, and if it hadn’t felt so good, that fact alone would have made me dislike him even more.

“You do now.” He smirked. “I’m your secret, and you’re mine.”

Be still my beating heart! Tucker and Whitt are perfection. Whitt, my precious man, I just wanted to hug him! Whitt truly does have a sweet soul underneath all the loneliness and hurt from his lacking family. Once Tucker recognized that, he didn’t step off the gas and pummeled his way to loving Whitt the way he deserved. The Christmas decorations gift?! SWOON!! 😍 Tucker, my absolute sweetest man, is such a caring soul. Everyone deserves a Tucker in their corner, fiercely loyal and dependable and loving. As the relationship progresses, you witness Whitt become softer and more comfortable being himself. And Tucker was there to support and encourage him every step of the way.

Once again, the banter and snark just make the couple that much more enjoyable. Their “hatred” and competitiveness being the reason they first ended up together was the perfect setup. And they’re totally hot together! I like that it didn’t take a whole bunch of push and pull, and they acknowledged fairly quickly how much they wanted each other. I also loved that they had no qualms admitting their love to each other. And they never wavered, even when it got tough with the long distance or exposure to their relationship. They never once questioned their love for each other.

The side characters were fantastic! I enjoyed Cullen in his book, but I’ve gained even more love for him as a side character in this book. I just love Cullen’s antics, especially the way he shows support for Tucker and Whitt. Tucker’s Mama and siblings are so sweet, and I even enjoyed how Whitt’s parents started to come around even though it lasted only briefly. Tucker and Whitt had the best support in their teams, friends, and Tucker’s family.

One of my favorite things about all the books in the series are the football details. These books are legit sports romances! It’s not just some of the characters are athletes and we never hear about their sport or it’s essentially fade-to-black when the games take place. You get all the elements and excitement of the game they play! Even if the authors took creative liberties and didn’t “follow all the rules,” these are probably the most in-depth sports romance stories I’ve read. Scenes of the characters actually playing the game, time periods that span actual seasons, practices and other off-the-field moments. I loved it all!

I just loved this series! And I’m extra happy because they finally got the Super Bowl win! I’m also an emotional sap, so that win and Tucker’s ring to Whitt made me tear up 🥹This book was truly the perfect ending, and the epilogue was *chefs kiss* and rounded out everyone’s lives so nicely.

Tucker is a really good, character. It is a pleasure to spend time with him. I liked the characters and have read the two previous books in the series (which both have great characters) and enjoyed all three.

Well, here we are. Last book in the Playing for Keeps series. What a bittersweet, fun, sexy and swoonworthy ride it was. This one was Whitt and Tucker's book. Whitt and Tucker have gone to the same football camp since they were kids, and both develop a hatred for each other. Whitt is rich, closed off, and seemingly had it all. Tucker wasn't well off, and his mom struggled during his childhood to take care of him and his sisters. Tucker was also outgoing and charming. They both couldn't be more opposite except for the way they liked to get under each other's skin and the fact that they were both cocky as heck and loved football. Years later, they both find themselves drafted but on rival teams. Their dislike of each other burned strong throughout the years, especially being on opposing teams and both wanting that Super Bowl ring. But what they hid from everyone as well as themselves is the attraction they've pushed aside and denied but has always been there. One night, they find themselves in a compromising situation with another woman, and a spark is lit even as they both go their separate ways and don't talk about what happened after. Yet it seems fate has others' plans because they keep finding themselves in hot situations that they can't walk away from. The more they get to know each other, the deeper they see into who the other really is and things shift because it doesn't feel like just hooking up. It feels like so much more. I really liked how though there was some push and pull these two didn't deny their chemistry and the feelings they kept building and when they were in they were all in and stuck by each other through the confusion, fear, lust, and the feeling of coming home when they're together. They were both hidden sweethearts even if Whitt was a little prickly. Tucker was able to smooth his edges a bit without changing him, and Whitt grounds him. Goodness, these two were hot together and for each other, and their adorable moments were the best. OMG, the Christmases were the sweetest! And it was so fun to get back to the other books and see their point of view from that time. I definitely also loved how the boys from books 1 and 2 were big parts of Whitt and Tucker's story, too. Whitt finally got the family he always needed and deserved, and Tucker found the man he couldn't live without. I love how in all three books, each couple was never strangers to each other. Sometimes in life, you have to play the long game. And that's what these two beautiful men did, and they found the loves of their lives through the second live of their lives, football. I'm going to miss everyone from this series, but I'm happy I found them. Until next time I reread!

With book 1 fell in love with McRaes, book 2 Cullen became my favourite character… but book 3 was something else. I knew I loved Tucker then but man do I love Tucker for Whitt or what. They are my favourites from this whole series. Patrick makes me feel like I want to do everything to protect him but Tuck does it for him so awe good there. Malik Tucker is the sweetest and kindest human character I’ve found in this universe of footballers. It was great to know these people and also the rush and the royals. I only hoped they all are happy with their placings in this universe.
